Chapter 111 The Rooster's Crow in the Small Room

Tong Liu approached the child and called out a few times, but the child didn't respond. He then squatted down and slapped the child twice across the face, causing the child to cover his face and slowly open his eyes.

Without even glancing at the child, Tong Liu went straight to the woman, reached out and tugged at her hair a few times, shouting, "Wake up!"

After waking the woman, Tong Liu went to the middle-aged man. Just as he was about to squat down, he covered his nose, stood up, kicked the middle-aged man twice with a look of disgust, and shouted, "Wake up!"

Soon, the family of three was woken up by Tong Liu.

The three of them looked at each other, then hugged each other and burst into tears.

The middle-aged man was the first to release the mother and son. With a look of fear on his face, he glanced around a few times and asked uncertainly, "Master Feng, where is that old man Song?"

"They've been wiped out." The embarrassment on Tong Liu's face had long since disappeared, and he waved his hand impatiently as he spoke.

"Really?" The middle-aged man glanced around a few more times and asked uncertainly.

"If it's not real, then it's fake? What good would it do me to lie to you?"

"Haha, good riddance! Good riddance! Our family can finally have peace and quiet!" The middle-aged man said, wiping away tears as he laughed.

"Alright, tidy yourself up, I should go back too." Tong Liu didn't want to pay any attention to this middle-aged man who reeked of excrement and urine, and walked straight towards the gate of the courtyard.

"Wait, Master Feng, this is a red envelope for you." The middle-aged man took out a red envelope from his pocket and hurriedly walked towards Tong Liu.

"No need...no need." Tong Liu subconsciously took a step back and waved his hand awkwardly.

"Yes, yes." The middle-aged man placed the red envelope in Tong Liu's hand, glanced at me curiously, and asked, "Master Feng, who is this?"

"This is my good brother, Zuo Changming. We owe him a lot for helping us out this time," Tong Liu said, putting his arm around my shoulder as he introduced the man to the middle-aged man.

"Did you, Master Zuo, kill Old Man Song?" The middle-aged man nodded politely to me and asked softly.

I was about to answer no when Tong Liu patted my shoulder and said first, "Well, here's what happened. At first, your family and I were all trapped in that evil thing's trap, the legendary ghost wall. That's why my talismans and spells failed. Luckily, I had notified my good brother Changming beforehand. He came from behind and broke the evil thing's ghost wall outside the trap. In the end, the two of us brothers worked together and it took a lot of effort to destroy that evil thing."

"I see." The middle-aged man nodded after listening attentively and said to me, "Master Zuo, thank you so much. Please wait a moment, I'll go get you another red envelope."

"Uncle, no need, it's already been given to you." I quickly waved my hand.

"Yes, no need. The price was already agreed upon, and we don't have the concept of adding money midway," Tong Liu said hastily, looking embarrassed.

"Alright then, Master Feng, Master Zuo, thank you so much for what happened this time." The middle-aged man bowed to us with gratitude on his face.

"Alright, alright, it's getting late, we should head back. No need to see us off." Tong Liu came over, hooked his arm around my neck, and pushed me toward the gate.

"Why don't you stay for a late-night snack before heading back?" the middle-aged man called out from behind.

"No, no." Tong Liu raised his hand and waved it, then said in a low voice, "Damn it, you're covered in shit and piss, what's the point of eating? Um, Changming, this is my first time taking action, and I didn't want to look too bad, so I borrowed your name to tell a lie. But you shouldn't mind, right?"

"Hehe, not at all, not at all." I couldn't help but chuckle softly. Tong Liu's ability to make up stories was no less than mine. Feeling the force on my neck, I shook my head and said, "Master Feng, two grown men shouldn't be hugging and cuddling."

“But even if you let me hug you, I won’t.” After saying that, Tong Liu let go of me and got on his 125cc motorcycle.

So I rode my electric bike and Tong Liu rode his motorcycle, and we rode side by side toward the town.

On the way, I glanced at Tong Liu and asked, "Tong Liu, will you still do this job in the future? Oh no, will you still go and learn skills from Hu Ergou?"

"Learn my ass! Hu Ergou's tricks are completely useless. He can only scare those weaklings. If he encounters someone powerful, he'll probably be in trouble. I'll go find him and get my money back tomorrow." Tong Liu cursed, then looked at me and said, "Changming, describe what that old Taoist looks like to me. I'm going to try my luck at the Great Emperor Temple to see if I can become his apprentice."

I twitched the corner of my mouth slightly. This old Taoist priest was something I made up in the first place. Now I have no choice but to make up another lie to deal with Bucket Six.

After thinking for a moment, I fabricated the image of that old Taoist priest out of thin air, describing him as having an air of otherworldly wisdom and being a hermit master.

"What a master! I must become his apprentice!" Tong Liu exclaimed with admiration, waving his left hand excitedly.

I shook my head and sighed inwardly. If it weren't for the fact that the Zuo clan's heritage cannot be passed on to outsiders, I would really like to pass some of it on to Tong Liu.

"Changming, your electric scooter is almost out of power. Why don't you push it back to the courier station to charge it? I'll go to the intersection and get some barbecue for you. We'll eat something before going home, and I'll pick you up at the courier station tomorrow morning." Seeing that my electric scooter was getting slower and slower, Tong Liu simply used his foot to push the back of my scooter forward.

"Okay then." I nodded in agreement.

Ten minutes later, we returned to the courier station. Tong Liu went ahead to order barbecue and waited for me, while I pushed my electric scooter into the courier station.

I pushed the electric scooter into the shed to charge it, and then took my phone's flashlight and walked outside.

Just then, I heard a rooster crow.

I was immediately taken aback. Why would there be chickens crowing in the courier station so late at night?

I followed the sound and soon found the place where the rooster was crowing – the small room where I had stayed at the courier station.

The room door was closed, but the lights were on inside.

I heard the clucking of chickens and the sound of their wings flapping.

Was Deng Xiaohong killing chickens inside?

But that doesn't make sense. Shouldn't you kill a chicken in the small kitchen outside?

Besides, why would he kill a chicken so late at night?

Suddenly, I remembered the dead rooster I had seen under the bed in the small room earlier.

What on earth is Deng Xiaohong up to?

Unable to contain my curiosity, I turned off my phone's flashlight and tiptoed over.

It took me several minutes to walk that short distance of twenty or thirty meters to reach the small room.

At this moment, the chicken in the small room was still squawking loudly and flapping its wings, making a clapping sound.

I stayed in this room for several days, and I know almost every part of it like the back of my hand.

I held my breath and slowly approached the door, cautiously peering into a small opening.

When I saw the scene inside, my eyes widened, and I quickly covered my mouth with my hand, afraid that I would scream and be noticed by Deng Xiaohong in the room.
