Zhang Guangyin covered his eyes with both hands and screamed, "I'm going to die, I'm going to die!"
I saw the money sword pierce Wang Xiaoyun's head. She let out a long sigh of relief, stopped her forward momentum, and felt a little weak. She stumbled and almost fell to the floor.
Wang Xiaoyun's body was still frozen in front of Zhang Guangyin, and her long fingernails were less than five centimeters away from Zhang Guangyin's head.
"I'm dead, I'm dead." Zhang Guangyin kept repeating this sentence as if he was terrified.
"Brother Yin, don't worry, you're alright." I was afraid Zhang Guangyin would have a nervous breakdown, so I quickly said loudly.
"Really?" Zhang Guangyin asked uncertainly.
"Yes, I've already eliminated Wang Xiaoyun. She can no longer harm you." I said in a serious tone, "If you don't believe me, you can open your eyes and see for yourself."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Guangyin slowly removed his hand from his eyes, but when he saw what was in front of him, he trembled and cried out, "No, don't kill me."
Just then.
Wang Xiaoyun's body suddenly faded away and disappeared completely in a short while, while my money sword fell to the ground with a crisp sound.
"No, don't kill me!" Zhang Guangyin was startled by the noise and screamed wildly again.
I shook my head and dragged my weak steps over to help Zhang Guangyin up, but when my hand touched his arm, Zhang Guangyin suddenly flung his hand away, almost knocking me over.
After I steadied myself, I slapped Zhang Guangyin on the head several times and yelled, "Brother Yin, I've killed Wang Xiaoyun, you're alright now."
Zhang Guangyin seemed to be woken up by my slap. He opened his eyes, looked around a few times, and then let out a heavy breath, excitedly saying, "Haha, I'm not dead, I'm still alive."
I shook my head. Actually, I can't blame Zhang Guangyin. When I encountered something unclean before, I wasn't much better off than him. It's already pretty good that Zhang Guangyin didn't wet his pants on the spot.
Despite my weakness, I reached out and dragged Zhang Guangyin up from the ground, helping him to sit down on the sofa. I took out a cigarette and offered it to Zhang Guangyin, while also lighting one for myself.
Zhang Guangyin's hands were still trembling slightly. I lit a cigarette for him, and he took a few deep drags, glanced around, and asked with some unease, "Changming, did you really put out that filthy thing?"
"Yes, I've already taken care of her." I reached out and patted Zhang Guangyin on the shoulder, my tone certain.
Zhang Guangyin finished his cigarette, wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, and said excitedly, "It's out, haha, it's out."
I stubbed out my cigarette and said, "Brother Yin, now that things are settled, I should head back."
"Wait, Changming, wait a moment, let me catch my breath." Zhang Guangyin took a few deep breaths, his complexion improved considerably, and he slowly stood up and walked into a room.
A moment later, Zhang Guangyin came out of the room, stood in front of me, and placed a thick red envelope in my hand, saying, "Changming, I am truly grateful for your help. From now on, you are my brother. This is a red envelope for you."
I felt there was at least two thousand yuan in this red envelope. After hesitating for a moment, I put the red envelope in my pocket. I didn't give it to Zhang Guangyin for the money, but since he gave it to me, I didn't stand on ceremony. Anyway, he has deducted about two thousand yuan from my wages over the years, so I might as well take back my hard-earned money.
"Then, Brother Yin, I'll head back now." I walked over, picked up the money sword from the ground, and was about to open the door and leave.
Zhang Guangyin glanced at his watch, then at the messy hall, and said, "Changming, it's so late, why don't we stay in the county town for the night? My house is a mess too, so let's grab some late-night snacks first, then get a hotel room for the night."
I looked reluctant and shook my head, saying, "No, no, no, I'll just stay one night. I'll just grab a late-night snack and then head back."
"Changming, don't misunderstand. I've booked a room for you to stay in by yourself. It's almost eleven o'clock now. By the time you get home, who knows what time it will be."
After Zhang Guangyin finished speaking, he changed his clothes and went out with me.
I also happened to have something to ask him, and what he said was right. By the time I got home, it would probably be one or two o'clock, so I decided to find a place to stay in the county town for the night.
Zhang Guangyin and I arrived at a three-star hotel in the county town. Zhang Guangyin ordered some late-night snacks on the third floor of the hotel.
To be honest, this is the first time I've ever stepped into such a luxurious place. The spacious environment and the opulent decorations are truly the world of the rich, something the poor simply cannot comprehend. I reckon a late-night snack here would cost several hundred yuan.
Oh well, it's not like I paid for it anyway, and I did save Zhang Guangyin's life, so I can eat this late-night snack with a clear conscience.
Zhang Guangyin served me a bowl of seafood porridge and said with a grateful look, "Changming, I owe you so much this time, otherwise I would have been dead. You really are a hidden talent. I thought you were just bragging at the courier station, but I didn't expect you to have real skills and be so amazing."
"Brother Yin, I only know a little bit about it. There are plenty of people who are better than me," I said modestly, waving my hand.
"You're already this amazing, so wouldn't Master Hu be even more amazing?" Zhang Guangyin asked excitedly, his face flushed.
"Uh... I guess so!" I replied casually. If it were Hu Ergou here tonight, I don't know if he could handle Wang Xiaoyun. Although Wang Xiaoyun isn't as powerful as Fang Lei, she's definitely a formidable ghost, and even I find her troublesome.
"Sigh, if I hadn't experienced it myself, I wouldn't have believed that such filthy things really exist in this world." Zhang Guangyin sighed softly, his face filled with the joy of surviving a disaster.
"Yes, the world is full of wonders. No matter what, I should still maintain a sense of awe for the unknown, be a good person, and not hurt others." I sighed, then, as if remembering something, I asked, "By the way, Brother Yin, which master gave you that talisman?"
"You mean that useless, tattered talisman I slapped on my back?"
"Mm." I nodded gently.
"Damn it, what a load of crap, he's a master! I wouldn't even remember him if you hadn't mentioned him. I almost got killed by that guy. The stuff he gave me was utterly useless." Zhang Guangyin lit a cigarette and said angrily.
"Do you know him?" I asked casually. I guessed that the talisman might have been given to him by Deng Xiaohong, because I had sensed the same aura from her.
“I don’t know him. At noon today, Xiao Deng and I were having lunch when a middle-aged man suddenly came up to me and said that I seemed to be having some bad luck lately. He gave me a talisman, saying that it could ward off evil spirits and protect me. At the time, I was so obsessed with him that I accepted the talisman and even gave the middle-aged man two hundred yuan, but he didn’t accept it.” Zhang Guangyin slowly recounted the story, his anger still evident.
I was taken aback. Could it be Deng Xiaohong?
Who could it be?
"Does Deng Xiaohong know that middle-aged man?" I asked casually.
