Chapter 62 Who is your mother?

I swallowed the words that were about to come out, glanced back at Hu Ergou, and saw that his expression was normal, which made me feel a little relieved.

Since Zhong Lingui was asking someone for a favor, distrust would be disrespectful, but Hu Ergou didn't seem to care.

Hu Ergou looked at Zhong Lingui and said, "Go and boil a hard-boiled egg, peel off the yolk, and put the egg white on his forehead. If I'm not mistaken, the egg white will turn black in a few minutes."

Zhong Lingui hesitated for a moment, then told his wife to take care of it.

About ten minutes later, Lin Xiaoxue came in with an egg. Zhong Lingui took the still-hot egg, endured the heat to peel the yolk, and took the egg white into the room, placing it on Zhong Hanhui's forehead.

Everyone followed them inside, their eyes fixed on the egg white mark between Zhong Hanhui's eyebrows.

About two minutes later, a strange scene appeared. I saw that the egg white, which was originally like porcelain, was covered with tiny black lines, which were getting bigger and bigger. In a short while, the entire egg white turned pitch black.

The Zhong Lingui couple were so surprised that their mouths dropped open. They quickly looked at Hu Ergou with respectful eyes.

Hu Ergou stepped forward, took the pitch-black egg white in his hand, examined it carefully, his brows furrowed, then glanced at us and said, "Let's talk outside."

Hu Ergou came out of the room first, without lingering in the hall, and went straight outside.

The rest of us followed and came out. Hu Ergou was still carefully examining the egg white in his hand. Zhong Lingui stepped forward, bowed to Hu Ergou, and said respectfully, "Master Hu, I apologize for my questioning just now."

“You don’t need to do this, I don’t mind.” Hu Ergou waved his hand at Zhong Lingui, then said seriously, “Your son’s matter is very troublesome. Judging from the degree of contamination of this egg, your son has been in contact with it for a long time, and this infant spirit is living in this room of yours.”

"Then... what should we do?" Zhong Lingui asked, her face changing drastically and her voice trembling.

On Zhong Lingui's expression, I saw bewilderment, fear, and deep helplessness. Hu Ergou had already proven with facts that his son had indeed encountered something evil.

"The only way now is to talk to that infant spirit and persuade it to stop bothering your son. Otherwise, we'll have to forcibly destroy it. Of course, this is the only option. Judging from your son's complexion, if we don't deal with the infant spirit, he only has about a month left to live," Hu Ergou said solemnly.

"Please, Master Hu, save my poor son," Lin Xiaoxue pleaded, bowing deeply to Hu Ergou.

“Yes, Master Hu, I’m entrusting my son to you.” Zhong Lingui said, just like Lin Xiaoxue.

"You don't need to do that. Of course, if I'm going to take action, I'll do my best," Hu Ergou said, waving his hand.

Zhong Lingui hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Master Hu, how much do you require?"

Hu Ergou glanced at Zhong Lingui and said indifferently, "Half a pig, I guess."

"What?" Zhong Lingui asked, looking puzzled.

I quickly pulled Zhong Lingui aside and whispered in his ear, "Brother Zhong, Master Hu meant that half a pig is worth... In their line of work, they usually don't talk about money, they talk about yuan."

"Oh, oh." Zhong Lingui nodded repeatedly upon hearing this, and then said to Hu Ergou, "Master Hu, I understand."

"Hmm." Hu Ergou nodded gently and said, "At eight o'clock tonight, I will perform a ritual to imprison this infant spirit inside your son's body and allow him to communicate with you. At that time, you should persuade him to break free from your son on his own, otherwise things will become very difficult."

“Okay, I’ll ask him why he’s been bothering my son.” Zhong Lingui nodded emphatically, his face looking rather grim.

"It's dinnertime now. I've already prepared the food. Let's eat first," Lin Xiaoxue said to us.

No one objected; since they wouldn't start until evening anyway, it would be perfect to do it after dinner.

Lin Xiaoxue prepared five dishes and a soup today, including roast goose, steamed tilapia, sweet and sour pork ribs, fried eggs with chives, and a bok choy.

Lin Xiaoxue's cooking skills are really good; the dishes she cooked were delicious, and we each ate two bowls of rice.

After dinner, it was already past seven o'clock in the evening. We sat in the living room smoking and chatting idly.

Time passed by, minute by minute, and before we knew it, it was already eight o'clock in the evening.

Hu Ergou took out the Taoist robe from his bag and put it on. He held a large seal in one hand and a talisman in the other. He glanced at Lin Xiaoxue and said, "Ms. Lin, you shouldn't go in later."

Lin Xiaoxue hesitated for a moment, then nodded without saying anything.

I saw that Lin Xiaoxue was very puzzled, and I was also very confused as to why she wasn't allowed to go in. Just as I was about to ask, I saw Hu Ergou open the door to Zhong Hanhui's room and go in.

Zhong Hanhui was still asleep when Hu Ergou slowly walked towards him. Just then, Zhong Hanhui suddenly woke up and roared at Hu Ergou, struggling desperately. However, being tied up with ropes, he was unable to do anything.

I saw that although Zhong Hanhui had a fierce expression and was baring his teeth at Hu Ergou, there was obvious fear in his eyes.

Hu Ergou didn't say anything. He raised his hand and stuck a talisman on Zhong Hanhui's forehead. Then he chanted a spell and gently placed the large seal in his hand on the paper. He held the seal with one hand and kept making incomprehensible gestures towards Zhong Hanhui's head with the other.

When the talisman was placed on Zhong Hanhui's forehead, his struggles lessened. After the seal was applied, Zhong Hanhui calmed down completely, slowly closed his eyes, and seemed to fall into a deep sleep.

Hu Ergou was still chanting incantations, his hands constantly gesturing on Zhong Hanhui's body. After about five minutes, Hu Ergou finally stopped, removed the seal and the talisman, and placed them on the bedside table next to him. The seal then covered one corner of the talisman.

Hu Ergou made a strange hand gesture and quickly tapped it on Zhong Hanhui's forehead, shouting, "Come out!"

Just as Hu Ergou finished speaking, Zhong Hanhui slowly opened his eyes. Unlike before, Zhong Hanhui's body seemed to be frozen, and only his head above the neck could move.

"You old geezer, what do you want to do?" Zhong Hanhui spoke up, his voice like that of a baby.

“You can talk to him now. I need to suppress it and can’t be distracted.” After Hu Ergou finished speaking, he placed one hand on Zhong Hanhui’s forehead and the other hand on the large seal on the table.

"Who are you, and why are you harassing my son?" Zhong Lingui paused and asked, pointing to her son's body.

"Get out of here! He's my brother, of course I want to play with him!" the infant spirit said shrilly.

“What are you? My son, how could he be your brother? If you are willing to let my son go and promise not to bother him again, I can ask Master Hu to let you go,” Zhong Lingui said in a low voice.

"I said he's my brother, so he's my brother. If you don't believe me, you can ask my mother," the infant spirit said in a still incredibly sharp voice, with a hint of anger in it.

"Who is your mother?" Zhong Lingui asked.

"My mother lives in this house." Zhong Hanhui opened and closed his mouth, and the infant spirit's shrill voice rang out again.
