Staff Meals
Li Xingzang had just taken off his apron when he saw Shi Er walk into the kitchen with the ferocious Wu Fei in his hand.
"What happened?" She looked at them strangely. Although Shi Er was not as steady as Shi Yi, he got along well with Wu Fei. Why would he quarrel with him on the opening day?
"Let me go! He's here to cause trouble, I'm going to beat him!" Wu Fei was grabbed by Shi Yi by the back of the collar. He was small and could not escape no matter how hard he struggled. Moreover, he had been beaten by Li Xingzang and did not dare to use his magic power in front of others. He could only be as helpless and furious as an ordinary child.
"Come on! You're just a little kid, who can you do to someone like that?" Shi Er mocked him mercilessly, then looked at Li Xingzang who was standing helplessly by the side. "A big ghost came outside, and Wu Fei thought he was looking for trouble, and he almost got into a fight with him." [1]
"Big ghost?" Li Xingzang looked back at He Yishu who was silently peeling garlic in the corner of the kitchen. Well... she shouldn't count. Being able to appear in physical form during the day, she must be a very powerful ghost cultivator senior.
He Yishu rolled her eyes quietly. How could she have the guts to come here and challenge in broad daylight?
Shi Er shook the little tiger in his hand and said, "Big brother is watching outside, it should be fine." Besides, the entire Snow City is under the influence of Baishan Bathing Center. Which big devil would dare to cause trouble here?
"Xiao Fei, why do you think he's here to cause trouble?"
"What else can we do?" Wu Fei crossed his arms and whipped the stone spirit's arm with his tail. Shi Er looked at his useless efforts with ridicule.
"Maybe... you should remember that our family runs a restaurant." Is it possible that they are here to eat? After all, there are monsters next door who come to get a bath, so it shouldn't be surprising for monsters to eat in a restaurant, right? "Did he order?"
Wu Fei and Shi Er exchanged a glance and suddenly remembered the important matter. "An extra large portion of pickled cabbage and large bones, with extra blood sausage."
Li Xingzang tilted his head. Hey, this ghost's taste is a bit like hers.
"Everyone who comes here has to pay. He has spent money. Your salary depends on him. Don't make trouble." Li Xingzang put on his apron again and put the blood sausage he had just made that morning into the pot while instructing He Yishu to pick up the pickled vegetables. [2]
Shi Yi came out of the kitchen carrying a bowl of pickled cabbage and blood sausage and walked towards the private room on the second floor. Everyone in the restaurant smelled and looked over. It was so sour and authentic!
"Hey, kids! Kids!" The quick-witted aunt took advantage of the others' daze and hurriedly whispered to Shi Shan beside her, "Give us a bowl too." Winter comes early in Snow City, and a bowl of hot blood sausage in the cold weather is so refreshing. "And give us a plate of large rice noodles."
They just ordered three fresh vegetables and sweet and sour pork, thinking it would be enough for two people. Unexpectedly, the boss's cooking skills were really good and the dishes were served quickly. They decided to start cooking quickly. If they couldn't finish the food, they could pack it up and take it home, so they didn't have to cook in the evening.
Li Xingzang originally wanted to go and see this ghost cultivator during lunch break, perhaps he could give him some advice on cultivation, but he didn't expect that this dish of sauerkraut and blood sausage would actually revitalize the customers in the restaurant and they all ordered more dishes.
Receiving the order from the front office, Li Xingzang felt a mixture of laughter and frustration, yet also a sense of accomplishment. The pork in the restaurant was from large pigs she had personally selected from the countryside, not to mention the pig blood in the blood sausage. Her sensitivity to blood was perhaps even greater than that of a natural carnivore like Wu Fei. Fresh ingredients only enhanced the flavor of this dish.
In the side room, a cool young man with high dreadlocks smelled the blood sausage and smiled with satisfaction, "This little girl has a very sensitive nose." He picked up the chopsticks slowly. Although he was very fast, his gestures still showed some elegance, like a person who was used to a life of luxury.
After eating, he wiped his mouth, and facing the vigilant faces of several little goblins, he slightly curled the corners of his mouth, picked up a pen and wrote something in the suggestion book hung on the wall by Li Xingzang.
Wu Fei breathed a sigh of relief when he saw him walk out leisurely. Although he was a pure yang body and was not afraid of these evil spirits, a man of insight is a hero. Not to mention him, even his mother couldn't beat this guy!
After working all afternoon, Li Xingzang looked at the few large bones left in the pot and said to Shi Er, who was waiting for the food to be served, "Turn the sign that says 'Open' over. We have to take a lunch break too!"
"Sister Zang, we can still do it!" Shi Er used to soak in the bath center. Although it was very comfortable, he liked it here more. Not only could he stay with Sister Zang who gave them their name, but the fire in the kitchen made him warm all over. It was more comfortable than eating stones. He felt full of energy.
Li Xingzang handed the last dish to Shi Yi, who was delivering the plates, and patted Shi Er on the shoulder. "There's no end to making money. Although we're different from other people, we also need to rest mentally."
Shi Er left in a daze. In fact, he didn't quite understand what Zang Jie said, but he inexplicably felt that it made sense.
"Student He, what would you like to eat for lunch?" Li Xingzang clapped his hands and squinted at the sunlight coming in through the window. The stinging sensation seemed to be much less.
He Yishu hid in the "small dark room" specially designed for her, holding a bundle of green onions in her hand, "Boss, I also want to try the sauerkraut and blood sausage, is that okay?" Many people ordered this dish, and although she was a ghost, she also wanted to try it.
"Of course," Li Xingzang said, meeting He Yishu's surprised eyes, "Why are you looking at me like that? I'm not some black-hearted capitalist who wouldn't satisfy any employee who wants to order a dish. Besides, you've performed well. Boss, I'm sure you'll be satisfied with today's employee meal!"
Li Xingzang waved his hand, pointed at the pickled cabbage jar and looked at He Yishu, "What are you standing there for? Get some pickled cabbage!"
"Oh—oh oh!" He Yishu hurriedly moved, feeling a little warmer in her heart. In the past, she could only be praised when she performed very well, but those times... those times...
He Yishu stood there for a moment, stunned. What happened during those times? She still couldn't remember. She only vaguely remembered that it wasn't a happy memory, and... the sky, the tall buildings... someone was trying to harm her!
Li Xingzang turned around suddenly, pointed the back of the knife in his hand at her head and hit her hard, "He Yishu!"
"Ah!" The cold air dissipated in an instant. He Yishu covered his head and looked back pitifully, "Boss, why did you hit me?"
Li Xingzang squinted his eyes and looked at her. This silly girl hadn't realized what she had just done. If the red-clothed ghost really attacked, even with the suppression of the Dragon God and the Mountain God, the guests outside would have nightmares for several days.
"You're too slow!" Li Xingzang put his hands on his hips and scolded her, "Are you slacking off right under my nose?!"
He Yishu looked at the pickled cabbage in his hand and complained in his heart: Black-hearted capitalist!
The guests gradually dispersed. Shi Yi and the others cleaned up the front hall, pulled down the blinds, and then went to the dining table. He Yishu also slowly floated over. She deliberately sat a little further away from Wu Fei. It couldn't be helped. She wasn't the ghost cultivator master who came today. The pure yang energy of the little tiger made her uncomfortable. Although the stone spirits also gave off heat from time to time, it was still much better than him.
She kept lamenting the difficult working environment in her heart. When she looked up, she saw Li Xingzang placing a plate of something as white as cotton candy in front of her. "Student He, you performed well today. This is a reward."
The soft, white balls were evenly placed in the center of a beautiful porcelain plate, sprinkled with fine white icing sugar, like ice cream balls.
"Snow-coated bean paste!" He Yishu exclaimed in surprise.
She had heard of this Northeastern "children's dish" a long time ago, but the boss thought it was troublesome and was unwilling to make it. She could only look at the menu and imagine its taste. She didn't expect that she would actually make it.
"And this, don't you want to eat sauerkraut and blood sausage?" Li Xingzang asked her to pick up some dishes, and at the same time asked others to go to the kitchen to serve the dishes.
"Yeah!" He Yishu nodded vigorously. Although the working environment was a bit difficult, the boss was really nice. She had completely forgotten the complaints she had just made in her heart.
"Wow!" Shi Er and others looked at the cooked "dishes" in the kitchen in surprise. Sister Zang also made special employee meals for them!
"Spicy ruby, aquamarine with turquoise, sweet and sour citrine..." Li Xingzang stood by the table, clasped his hands in front of his body, and introduced these special dishes seriously.
"Auntie..." Wu Fei blinked his big eyes. They all had staff meals, but what about him?
"Of course I can't forget you." Li Xingzang purred his stiff hair and brought out a large plate of red meat. "Deer sashimi!" (You can't eat wild animals in real life!)
"Aunt, you are so awesome!" Wu Fei jumped up vigorously. Although he usually eats this, someone specially arranged the dish for him. This level of attention is completely different. Moreover, the meat was specially selected by her and paired with a unique sauce. It's amazing!
"Alright, alright!" Li Xingzang looked at the touched people, "If you're not actively eating, there's something wrong with your thinking! Why are you all looking at me? Go ahead!"
Li Xingzang took a piece of sweet and sour pork and walked to the comment book. Perhaps it was the first day of business, and the customers were still excited, so most of the comments they left were encouraging:
The three fresh delicacies are fried perfectly!
The rice noodles are well mixed, just the right amount of saltiness!
The sweet and sour taste of the pork in sweet and sour pot is good, and you can also try the salty one. I hope I can eat it next time I come.
Boss, your sweet and sour pork is different from the one I had in Liaocheng. Did you put ketchup in it?
Seeing this comment, Li Xingzang puffed up his cheeks slightly. She was an authentic sweet and sour sauce pie. Putting ketchup in sweet and sour pork, what kind of heresy was this!
Then he flipped through the pages. Besides the praise for the taste, there were also compliments on the decoration. Li Xingzang pursed his lips, and his small dimples were faintly visible. But when he saw the bottom page, the smile on his face froze slightly.
The flamboyant calligraphy was clearly well-practiced, flowing and elegant yet hinting at a sharp edge: "The decor is nice. The pickled cabbage isn't sour enough, but considering you pickled it yourself, it's barely acceptable. The large bones were overcooked; they would have been better with some blood. The blood sausage is good." Oh, and the restaurant could use a TV to play promotional videos. "The Legend of Zhen Huan" would be even better."
The comments at the beginning were quite normal, but the ones at the end... Li Xingzang raised his eyebrows in confusion. What the hell was this?
