While she said she was packing, Mo Shuwan was really just putting Cai Zhongqi's belongings into her backpack straps, putting the little dinosaur in a cage, saying goodbye to Wen Zuo, and then leaving the bus with two time cards.
She had already told the bus driver she was going to get off at the apartment building in the city where she works. But after getting off the bus, she realized that besides the things she had brought from the bus, she had no money and no house key.
Holding the little dinosaur, Mo Shuwan stood outside her door for a moment before turning around and knocking on her neighbor's door. The neighbor was an old lady who, upon hearing that Mo Shuwan had lost her keys, very kindly lent her her phone to call a locksmith. She then warmly invited Mo Shuwan inside for a drink of water.
Mo Shuwan smiled and politely declined the old lady's offer. However, the old lady did not close the door and stood at the door talking with her for a while. After the locksmith arrived, she reminded the young man to be careful not to always be forgetful.
The room had been uninhabited for more than half a month, and a lot of dust had accumulated. Mo Shuwan put the little dinosaur on the table in the living room, stuffed some meat into the cage for it to eat, and then turned around to go into the room to get her bank card to go out and buy a mobile phone.
"Little one, I'm going out for a bit. You're in charge of watching the house, understand?"
grumble--
Mo Shuwan simply pulled the door shut and left to withdraw a considerable amount of money. She bought a cell phone, got a temporary ID card, and replaced her SIM card before returning home.
The little dinosaur was lying on its back in the cage, but when it saw her return, it rolled over and stretched its hind claws out of the gap, as if to greet her.
Mo Shuwan walked over and touched its hind paws before entering the bedroom.
She only had twenty hours to go to City X to find Cai Zhongqi's family. This meant that if there were no afternoon flights, she would have to spend even more time on the road. After finding Cai Zhongqi's family, she might only be able to stay for a short while before having to rush back to the bus.
Fortunately, after checking the flight information, I confirmed that there was a flight to City X at 4 pm, which would only take an hour to arrive.
In order not to reveal anything to Cai Zhongqi's family, she carefully recalled some of the things Cai Zhongqi had mentioned to her. Worried that it might not be safe, she opened her computer and created a document, writing down everything she could remember about Cai Zhongqi's family.
An hour and a half had passed since she finished this task. Mo Shuwan carefully reviewed the contents of the document and breathed a sigh of relief.
15:06
Seeing that it was almost time, Mo Shuwan turned off her computer, picked up the cage containing the little dinosaur, slung her backpack over her shoulder, went out, took a taxi to the airport, and had forty minutes left before takeoff. After collecting her ticket and going through security, Mo Shuwan arrived at the boarding gate with the little dinosaur just in time to board the plane before the last check-in time.
Along the way, everyone else brushed past Mo Shuwan as if they hadn't even seen the little dinosaur in the cage.
More than an hour later, Mo Shuwan arrived in X City and took a taxi to his wife's company, following the address she had obtained from chatting with Cai Zhongqi.
"Hello, I'm looking for Lü Feifei."
"Okay, please wait in the reception room for a moment."
Mo Shuwan nodded. She hadn't been sitting down for two minutes when a rather plump woman walked into the reception room in low-heeled shoes. Seeing that Mo Shuwan was the only one there, Lü Feifei smiled and went over to her. "Hello, may I ask what brings you here?"
Looking at the gentle-smiling woman in front of her, Mo Shuwan couldn't help but think of Cai Zhongqi's evaluation of her.
"Captain, let me tell you, my wife... don't let her gentle and kind demeanor fool you. She can be quite fierce with me. But I know it's all for my own good. Because I want a child, she forces herself to take medications she doesn't like. She used to have a great figure..."
The words she had been rambling on seemed to still echo in her ears. Mo Shuwan took a deep breath and smiled. “I’m your husband’s friend. He asked me to bring you some things. They were all handmade by him, but he can’t come back right now because of something. I happened to be traveling here, so he asked me to bring them back.”
"...Wait, what are you saying? I don't have a husband! I haven't even gotten married yet."
Mo Shuwan abruptly stopped zipping up her backpack and looked up in surprise at the woman in front of her, who also looked astonished.
Are you sure you're not mistaken?
An awkward moment washed over her, and Mo Shuwan's face flushed red. She quickly zipped up the half-zipped jacket. "I'm sorry, I might have the wrong person!"
Upon hearing this, Lü Feifei first gave Mo Shuwan a strange look, then couldn't help but laugh, "It's okay, it's probably just a coincidence of names. I'll go to work now, goodbye."
After she was left alone in the reception room, Mo Shuwan awkwardly covered her face, composed herself, and thought that it might not be the name 'Feifei'. She was about to ask when she saw Lü Feifei, who had just left, suddenly come out with a bowl of dark soup.
Mo Shuwan followed instinctively.
Lu Feifei carried the soup into the restroom, and Mo Shuwan, who entered the restroom behind her, was stunned when she saw the liquid poured into the sink.
Looking up, Lü Feifei noticed Mo Shuwan and saw her staring at the remaining liquid in the sink. She awkwardly turned on the tap and rinsed it away. "Don't misunderstand, this is Chinese medicine, but I'm not drinking it now, so I threw it away."
She heard her own voice tighten as she asked, "Why didn't you drink it? Oh, I mean I drank it before, but I stopped because I thought the medicine was too bitter. I can't stand bitterness."
Upon hearing this, Lü Feifei looked at Mo Shuwan with a sense of shared misery, but soon her eyes showed confusion. "I also think Chinese medicine is too bitter. I've never liked bitter things, but I don't know why, I've been drinking Chinese medicine for a long time, but these past two days I suddenly feel that there's no need to drink it anymore, as if I've suddenly lost the reason to drink medicine."
Mo Shuwan turned to look at her: "Don't you know why you need to take medicine?"
"I'm not afraid to admit it, but I really don't know why I had to take the medicine. It just felt like a matter of course, so I did."
"I heard you started working at this company the year before last?"
"Oh, how did you know? Uh, I've been out for too long, I have to go back to work. I can't chat with you anymore, goodbye."
Mo Shuwan watched Lü Feifei's hurried departure, feeling a deep, indescribable sadness in her heart.
After standing alone and bewildered in the restroom for a while, Mo Shuwan slowly left. As she passed the front desk, she approached again and whispered, "Hello, I'd like to ask if Lü Feifei is feeling unwell?"
The receptionist looked at Mo Shuwan strangely, her hand secretly reaching for her phone.
Mo Shuwan quickly added, "It's like this, a friend of mine really likes her, but he's too introverted to confess, so he asked me to come over and secretly find out more about her for him."
