Chapter 22 Meeting with the People of the Safe Zone

"I don't!!!"

"You said you didn't do anything? Are you trying to say that we conspired to frame you? Don't forget, if you hadn't tried to instigate everyone to kill me and Wen Zuo, you wouldn't have been exposed."

Mo Shuwan spoke very quickly, giving the girl no chance to interrupt or refute. Her rebuttal made the passengers even more horrified.

And at this moment, the female passenger who came forward to testify against the girl nodded repeatedly, "Yes, I saw her, it was her, you saw her too, didn't you!" As she spoke, the female passenger also grabbed the hand of the first passenger who stood up to speak.

"No!!! Don't believe them, they're all lying." The girl broke down in tears, pointing at Mo Shuwan and questioning her amidst the horrified gazes of the passengers, "You're completely turning black into white and distorting the facts. You were clearly standing at the front of the bus after you got off, how could you possibly have seen what happened at the back?"

"...She's right. You and he were in the front at the time, and you only went over after the accident happened. Can you explain how you saw what happened in the back of the bus through us?"

The girl's emotions finally calmed down when she saw that someone was finally standing with her.

Mo Shuwan showed no embarrassment at being exposed. Instead, she stared intently at the passenger who had spoken up and exposed her, saying, "If I hadn't said that, who would have dared to stand up and accuse her of deliberately pushing people into danger?"

The words had barely left her lips when the female passenger shouted excitedly, "Don't believe her!!! She's the one who pushed people into the zombies!!!"

"Who knows if you and she are in cahoots?" The female passenger was referring to the girl in question, but now she was referring to Mo Shuwan.

“I didn’t speak to her on the bus or after I got off the bus. How could we be in cahoots! If you don’t believe me, you can ask them to prove it. I was with them all day.” The female passenger was very emotional and her voice was hoarse from shouting, which made Mo Shuwan keep looking at her and frown slightly.

The female passenger was telling the truth, and many people came forward to testify. The woman was in a disadvantageous position, and... she looked extremely flustered...

Even the few people who had previously clamored to cause trouble for Mo Shuwan and Wen Zuo were now silent. Compared to the lives of outsiders, their own lives were always more important. How could they feel at ease if they didn't get to the bottom of this matter this time?

Unexpectedly, the girl fainted in her panic.

Mo Shuwan stared at the girl lying on the ground for a few seconds, then looked at Qin Lei, whose voice was getting weaker and weaker, and squinted her eyes and said, "That's right, we should work together to survive now, but if anyone tries to take food from me and Wen Zuo again, it won't be the legs that are still intact."

After saying that, she looked up at Wen Zuo and asked, "Is there anything you want to say?"

Wen Zuo shook his head.

"Okay, let's go."

Mo Shuwan turned around, and Wen Zuo hesitated for a moment before following her. Looking at Mo Shuwan's back, he was somewhat bewildered, but his bewilderment was mixed with a strange sense of surprise.

Having never seen Mo Shuwan like this before, Wen Zuo did not feel the illusion shattered; on the contrary, he felt that she was even more dazzling.

"Wait a minute..."

A group of people were panicked and wanted to follow, but they were also a little scared. Even the female passenger who had come out to testify against the girl earlier did not follow.

Lost in thought, Mo Shuwan walked alongside Wen Zuo on the highway, unaware that Wen Zuo had stopped. She took a few steps forward out of habit, only to be pulled back by a hand. Wen Zuo couldn't tell Mo Shuwan what she had discovered, so he could only use his actions to remind her that something was wrong.

"A zombie?"

Wen Zuo shook his head, his gaze quickly sweeping over the surroundings, his eyes darkening slightly. He released the hand that was holding Mo Shuwan and made a "X" sign to her.

"Ten people?"

Seeing Wen Zuo nod, Mo Shuwan's eyes also darkened. She took a specially made watermelon knife from her backpack, held it in her hand, leaned against the backpack behind Wen Zuo, slowed her breathing, and squinted as she carefully looked around.

However, the other party's counter-surveillance capabilities were obviously quite good. Mo Shuwan felt like her eyes were almost blind, but she couldn't see anything unusual. But she trusted Wen Zuo. Since Wen Zuo was sure there were people there, then there must be someone there.

Xiangzi and the others, who were hiding in the shadows, immediately turned all their attention to Mo Shuwan and Wen Zuo. They hadn't been there long, and it could even be said that Wen Zuo noticed them as soon as they reached a distance where they could observe the passengers.

Even though they knew they had been discovered, the dozen or so people remained silent in perfect unison. After observing for a while, they found that only two people had noticed their presence.

"These people look weak. How dare they stay outside at a time like this?"

No matter how many times I thought about this question, I couldn't find an answer. It was strange. "It's very strange. If they weren't strong, they couldn't be dressed so cleanly and neatly. I haven't seen humans dressed so well in years. But if they are strong, how come they couldn't even detect us?"

Knowing that someone was watching her but not being able to find them was unpleasant. Mo Shuwan frowned and simply stopped looking around. She only needed to trust Wen Zuo's judgment.

Wen Zuo and Mo Shuwan looked so serious that the passengers went from being suspicious to being wary of their surroundings.

"Hey, what exactly did you guys find?!"

Mo Shuwan pursed her lips.

I wish I had known!

After confirming that there were people in only one direction, Wen Zuo immediately turned around and pulled Mo Shuwan behind him. He raised his gun, and the dark muzzle was accurately aimed at the place where Bai Shu and the others were hiding.

After exchanging glances, the dozen or so people stood up together. Xiangzi removed the weed from his mouth and said with a smile, "Don't misunderstand, we mean no harm."

Wen Zuo frowned but did not put away his gun. Instead, he took a step to the side, trying to block Mo Shuwan, who had just slipped out from behind him.

"What if we hadn't found you?"

Xiangzi's gaze slowly shifted to Mo Shuwan. He smiled but didn't say anything, essentially tacitly agreeing.

"Which security zone are you from?"

Before Mo Shuwan could speak, the passengers who had regained their senses rushed forward, tears of emotion streaming down their faces, shouting, "Help us! We've been starving all day and are looking for a safe zone!"

Bai Shu and the others were increasingly puzzled. Seeing the group of people rushing over, they reflexively drew their weapons and forced the passengers back. Someone frowned and asked, "Why are you still out so late?"

Mo Shuwan instinctively felt something was wrong, but she couldn't stop them in time. Some passengers had already told her everything, except for some things related to the bus that she couldn't say.

Furthermore, some passengers took the opportunity to smear Mo Shuwan and Wen Zuo, saying that the two of them deliberately killed someone to hoard food.

The passengers were too excited to notice the subtle glances exchanged by the dozen or so people in front of them. Xiangzi, who was chewing on a blade of grass, took a step forward and raised his voice, asking, "You mean, those two people monopolized the food and then shot and killed someone?"
