After handing the wooden sign to another person to take away, the man in black muttered something and led a group of passengers toward the dark staircase. Unexpectedly, after turning a corner, their vision suddenly brightened, and extremely loud music filled the air. Passengers who hadn't been exposed to strong light for at least two hours were so shocked that their eyes watered.
Mo Shuwan was also taken aback. She had assumed she wouldn't see any overly bright lights before leaving the building, but now...
As they descended the second half of the stairs with bewildered expressions, Mo Shuwan and the passengers finally saw the scene on the first floor. A strange look appeared in everyone's eyes as people dressed in extremely flamboyant and revealing clothes gathered together and swayed wildly. The eerie and sinister aura that remained completely still proved that they were all human.
A group of people suddenly came down from the second floor quietly, which quickly attracted attention. From the look in their eyes, it was not hard to see their surprise. They probably did not expect to see people dressed so conservatively in this building.
"Don't look around, let's go!"
The frightened passengers immediately lowered their heads, not daring to look around. Only Mo Shuwan and her companions were still secretly observing the lobby on the first floor. The man in black robes was gone, and the numerous cups on the round table that had once held blood had been replaced by the band. The deafening music made Mo Shuwan frown.
After the initial surprise, a woman in the crowd reacted, holding a drink and swaying seductively towards Mo Shuwan and the others. Under the black-clad man's disgusted gaze, she leaned closer to Wen Zuo and said, "Handsome, stay and have a drink."
Wen Zuo frowned.
Mo Shuwan reached out and took Wen Zuo's arm. "He's busy."
"Oh, it's taken."
The woman wanted to find another target, but the man in black in front of her was already impatient. He growled and led the group quickly toward the building entrance. Mo Shuwan noticed that the building's entrance was now a glass revolving door.
The moment she stepped out of the building, all the deafening music disappeared. Mo Shuwan turned her head and looked at the pitch-black building behind her, her brows furrowed. Everyone on the first floor was a normal human being, so did they know that the second floor of this building was full of vampires?
Do they know that not long ago, in the place where they were, someone was taken away in an extremely cruel way?
Even though the building and the scene they had just witnessed were eerie, Mo Shuwan and Wen Zuo didn't have much time to investigate further, because about five minutes after they left the building, a bus came into view.
"Get on the bus quickly, we have to be back before five o'clock." The man in black opened the bus door and urged the passengers who were clearly resistant to the bus.
The passengers stared at the bus in front of them without saying a word. They now knew clearly that they had ended up here because of that bus, so seeing the bus now made them feel an involuntary resistance.
Mo Shuwan and Wen Zuo exchanged a glance, pondering the possible consequences after getting on the bus.
The man in black had clearly misunderstood. Seeing that Mo Shuwan and the others hadn't gotten into the car, he sneered and said, "Now that you've attended this banquet, don't even think about going back to being normal. Since you've indulged in temporary pleasure, you'd better behave and obey us. Otherwise, we have countless ways to make you wish you were dead."
The passengers were so frightened they started trembling.
The young man wearing gold-rimmed glasses, who was closely following behind Mo Shuwan and Wen Zuo, subconsciously looked at Mo Shuwan with trusting eyes.
Wen Zuo couldn't speak, and even though Mo Shuwan didn't like interacting with strangers before, she had to force herself to do so now. So she pretended to look longingly and asked, "Of course we know, but you have to tell us, do we still have a chance? You know what I mean, we just want to enjoy life better, and of course, if we could extend our lifespan, that would be even better."
This information was obtained from the native humans. There was no crucial information, but it was enough to fool the people in front of them.
Sure enough, after hearing Mo Shuwan's words, longing appeared in the black-clad man's eyes. "As long as you are obedient, there will definitely be opportunities." Perhaps something Mo Shuwan said had spurred him on, because after he finished speaking, he took the initiative to say a few more words, "Soren has been chosen by an adult and has been transformed into one of their kind. As long as nothing unexpected happens, Soren has already reached a position that most humans in this world need to look up to."
The other men in black who had been silent couldn't help but speak up, "He used to be just like us, the lowest of humans! How could he be chosen by the adults?"
“Jealousy is useless. He’s so lucky, what can we do? On the bright side, it means that all of us have a chance.”
"It's past 4:10. If we don't leave soon, we'll be in big trouble."
The group had no choice but to stop discussing and urged Mo Shuwan and the others to get on the bus. Mo Shuwan got the information she wanted and got on the bus without hesitation. She and Wen Zuo got on the bus, and the other passengers didn't dare to delay and quickly squeezed onto the bus.
Mo Shuwan and Wen Zuo sat in the last row, communicating silently with their papers.
Wen Zuo: There aren't just vampires on the second floor of that building; there should be more up there too. It's just that since we're 'lowest-class' humans, we're not qualified to go up yet. This means the vampires up there are more powerful, and it also means there are more points there. Adventure?
Mo Shuwan rubbed her temples and took the pen from Wen Zuo's hand: "Let's gather more information. We still have fifteen days, and—I think the place we're about to go to will give us more information."
Wen Zuo: I'll do whatever you say.
Upon seeing this sentence, Mo Shuwan was both amused and exasperated, and quickly wrote: "You trust me that much?"
Wen looked at Mo Shuwan with a gentle smile.
Whether it's the building or the place they're about to go, for Mo Shuwan and the other outsiders, there are countless layers of mist surrounding them. Only by dispelling this mist can they survive safely.
The carriage was quiet. Many passengers leaned back in their seats with blank stares, their eyes reflecting confusion about the future and deep fear.
About ten minutes later, the young man sitting next to Wen Zuo cautiously spoke up, "Hello, my name is Yang Zhou, I... can I come with you?" Yang Zhou lowered his head, not daring to look at Mo Shuwan and Wen Zuo's expressions, and the last few words were almost squeezed out between his teeth, afraid of being rejected.
Unfortunately, Mo Shuwan and Wen Zuo only heard his name; the rest of the words were spoken too softly for them to hear clearly.
"What did you say?"
Unexpectedly, Yang Zhou was overjoyed to receive a response. He looked up at Mo Shuwan with delight and asked, "Can I stay with you for the next fifteen days? I promise I won't cause you any trouble."
