Chapter 8 Hostage Exchange

The technician, who was more alert than Rox, quickly contacted Felos's bodyguards. If it were them, they might be able to temporarily get Donbud out of prison. After the call, they were pleasantly surprised to find that the bodyguards had a solution.

Rox felt relieved and was about to speak when Mo Shuwan, who had already seen through his decision, spoke first: "Mr. Rox, if you are worried that the bandits will shoot the hostages without your knowledge, we can count the hostages present in front of you now."

Upon hearing this, Rox immediately blamed himself for not being as thoughtful as a young girl. He changed the subject, saying, "I have already sent someone to contact Honglang Prison in Yadong Prefecture. To show my sincerity, I can let them keep in touch with Tangbude when counting the hostages."

Rox’s voice was loud, and the bandits’ initial dissatisfaction with Mo Shuwan’s suggestion to count the hostages immediately dissipated. “Tell him we need to have a video call with Mr. Tangbud.”

After both sides reached an agreement, the bandits quickly contacted Tangbude. Tangbude's appearance was surprisingly gentle, but his bald head seemed to be shining under the light. His voice was completely different from his kind face, full of malice, "Well done. I knew it. Rox would personally send me out of here."

While the bandits' attention was temporarily focused on Tangbude, Mo Shuwan quickly applied some medicine to Felosis's arm, her voice dazed, "I can't hold on much longer. If I faint in a moment, press hard on my wound. Don't hesitate. As long as I'm alive, I can endure this pain."

Tears welled up in Felosis's eyes, and she said very softly, "I understand." Then, she couldn't help but add, "You're amazing."

After a long silence, he turned around and saw that Mo Shuwan had closed her eyes. Remembering her instructions, he gritted his teeth and pressed his hand on the wound.

Mo Shuwan jolted awake by the excruciating pain.

The headcount of the hostages took a full ten minutes. Including Mo Shuwan and Felosi, there were a total of 326 people. They were counted one by one in front of Rox. If the bandits wanted to kill the hostages, they would have to think twice, after all... Tangbude had already been released from prison and was being escorted by prison guards to board a helicopter.

Felosis was picked up by a group of bodyguards.

Twenty minutes later, the police were fully deployed, but after much deliberation, they decided to take action after exchanging hostages, as they had to ensure the absolute safety of the hostages and Felosi.

As the two-hour deadline drew closer, Mo Shuwan became increasingly disoriented. Along the way, Felosi pressed on her wound no less than ten times. Just as the two-hour countdown was about to end, something was thrown in front of Mo Shuwan, and the bandit's voice, which sounded like a half-smile, reached her ears: "Don't worry, as long as you don't expose yourself, I won't turn on the switch."

Mo Shuwan pursed her lips, quickly understanding the bandits' plan. They wanted to take advantage of her reluctance to die before leaving, to trick the police. But she said nothing, handing the bomb to Felosis and instructing him to tightly strap it to her wrist as instructed. In front of a group of bandits, there was no room for him to tamper with it. Felosis's hands trembled the entire time, while Mo Shuwan weakly comforted him, "I won't let myself die."

There were no countdown marks on the bomb, making it seem like a fake bomb, but Mo Shuwan knew that once she and Felosi entered the police protection area, the bomb would be detonated immediately.

After the helicopter carrying Donbud arrived, it hovered over the mall. Rox demanded that the hostages be released before landing, but the bandits refused. When the standoff continued, Mo Shuwan suddenly said, "In Mr. Rox's eyes, Felosis is worth more than all the hostages. We can stay."

Just now, he was desperately trying to come up with ideas for them to survive, but now he suddenly volunteered to stay... This made the bandits feel something was wrong, but they didn't have a chance to figure it out, because Rox's voice had already entered their ears through the deafening speakers. After arguing for a few minutes, the two sides reached a final consensus.

The helicopter was required to land when the terrorists released two-thirds of the hostages. After weighing the pros and cons, the police temporarily agreed to this. The hostages were released one by one in front of the police. When only one-third remained, the helicopter landed. Prison guards and several bodyguards escorted Tang Bude out of the helicopter. While the two sides were cautiously confronting each other, the terrorists gradually moved to the side of the helicopter. Soon, a small number of terrorists rushed onto the helicopter.

As soon as they boarded the helicopter, the criminals immediately contacted their accomplices hidden in various locations, saying, "Detonate the explosives in five minutes."

"Release them!"

With the 'fake Felosi' present and already on the helicopter, the other hostages were no longer of any use to them. Soon, the bandits began releasing the last batch of hostages one by one. When the middle-aged man who knew Mo Shuwan's plan and his bodyguard walked past them, they clearly noticed a pause in the hostages' expressions. They were probably worried about her and Felosi's safety.

In the end, only Felosi, Mo Shuwan, and Tangbude remained.

Both sides began moving towards their respective camps. Tang Bude, his face full of smugness, swaggered toward the helicopter, while Mo Shuwan and Felosi had no choice but to speed up.

"Quick, get on."

The bandits still on the ground quickly retreated onto the helicopter, and the hostages on both sides were getting closer and closer to their respective camps. When Tangbude was only a few steps away from the helicopter, the bandits threw several bags of explosives with long fuses, clearly intending to wait for them to be extinguished. Their purpose was simply to provide cover and buy time for Tangbude.

As the prison guards rushed forward to deal with the explosives, Tangbude had already boarded the helicopter. The moment the helicopter took off, the bandits who were already prepared immediately pulled the trigger, but when they saw Mo Shuwan take a bullet for Felosi, they cursed. They looked at the thing in their partner's hand and asked, "Is this thing still useful after a person dies?"

"It might work. That kid ran towards the police carrying the dead body." As he spoke, he turned on the bomb's countdown timer, gave the police on the top floor the middle finger, and laughed loudly, "Get ready to enjoy the fireworks show we've prepared for you!"

They never even considered why the police didn't stop them when they took the helicopter away.

until……

"Damn it, we're out of gas!!!"

"Damn it, didn't you just check? How could there be no oil?!"

Chaos erupted inside the helicopter. The celebratory atmosphere vanished completely. The thugs who had been manning the helicopter looked at the nearly empty tank of fuel and despair rose in their eyes. It was over... This little bit of fuel wouldn't be enough to find a place to land...
