Chapter 15: His back straightened considerably.

Before long, four men in blue robes and felt hats entered the tent one after another.

Inside the large tent, a group of tribal leaders glared menacingly, harboring ill intentions.

Hufro remained expressionless.

“Prince Yufuluo, why don’t you come forward to pay your respects to the envoy from the superior nation?” said the leading man holding a staff with arrogance.

Hufro hesitated.

"Prince, etiquette must not be neglected!"

Upon seeing the other party arrive with envoys, Huyan Gu offered a reminder from the side.

Yufro reluctantly stood up, slightly cupped his hands in greeting.

"His Majesty the Emperor sent us here..."

The envoy, holding the imperial staff, looked around and abruptly stopped speaking halfway through his sentence.

Yufuluo was displeased, and at Huyan Gu's urging, he dismissed all the tribal leaders and Hu dancers, leaving only Huyan Gu and himself.

The envoy was very satisfied with Fuluo's attitude and said slowly, "His Majesty has sent us to Meiji to meet with Qiangqu Chanyu."

"Passing through Dingxiang, I learned that Prince Yufuluo was here, so I came to meet him."

"You should go see my father, why are you looking for me?" Upon hearing this, Hufro showed little interest.

He thought these Han Chinese envoys had some good news for him.

"Your Highness, have you heard? One of our princes is going to Shuofang to take up his fiefdom." the envoy said.

"Um?"

Yufro frowned. "Half a month ago, there were rumors all over the border regions."

"They say this prince is going to Wuyuan, intending to conquer us and subdue the four prefectures of Yunzhong?"

The envoy exchanged glances with the others, then said, "Your Highness is mistaken. Our prince has merely taken up his fief; how could he be subject to any campaign?"

“We are about to inform the Qiangqu Chanyu that you must not harm him in the slightest and must ensure his safe arrival in Shuofang.”

"Presumably, that prince will pass through Dingxiang, so we came in advance to give Prince Yufuluo a heads-up, so that he won't have any bad intentions towards the prince."

The envoy's words carried a hint of threat.

"Don't you know that Wuyuan City in Shuofang is now our territory!"

For a prince of the Han Dynasty to come to the territory of the Southern Xiongnu to take up a fiefdom is simply a sign of contempt for the Xiongnu people.

Now they're sending messengers to tell them this? Isn't that bullying?

Moreover, they're clearly telling you that they're bullying you, so what!

Upon hearing the messenger's words, Yufuluo was already furious, his eyes flashing with malice.

“Prince Yufuluo, the four commanderies of Shuofang were originally the territory conquered by our Han people. It was only because your ancestor Huhanye Chanyu submitted to the Han that this area was given to you to live in.”

"Otherwise, you would still be herding sheep in the bitterly cold land north of Yinshan."

"You think we don't know that you've plundered quite a few cities and villages outside Yanmen Pass and Loufan Pass!"

"Don't get carried away just because we haven't made any moves."

The envoy, however, issued a scathing condemnation.

Yufuluo slammed his fist on the table and drew his sword to strike, but Huyan Gu quickly stopped him, saying, "Prince, please calm down. Don't be impulsive. Don't explain this to the King."

Qiangqu Chanyu was still subservient to the Han Dynasty, but Yufuluo was young and impetuous and gradually became dissatisfied with this.

If we were to kill the envoy of the Han Dynasty, wouldn't that be an open declaration of war?

That's absolutely unacceptable!

If Qiangqu Chanyu knew that Yufuluo had done this, he would definitely depose him.

Although the Yellow Turban Rebellion occurred in the Central Plains, the border armies of the Han Dynasty were not to be underestimated.

Yufuluo gathered his tribe and marched south, plundering border villages and cities in search of wealth.

He did not want to openly provoke a war.

"snort!"

Yufro fiercely sheathed his sword.

"Please, Prince Juflo, comply accordingly."

After the messenger finished speaking, he turned and left without lingering.

"This is outrageous! One day, when I become the Chanyu, I will openly raise an army and march south to conquer Luoyang!"

After the messenger left, Juflo roared angrily.

"Your Highness, be careful what you say!" Huyan Gu hurriedly advised.

"I won't swallow this insult if I don't kill this prince!"

Yu Fuluo said, "Why should we guarantee his safe arrival in Shuofang?"

“The area around Wuyuan City has fertile land and a dense network of waterways, making it a good place for farming. There are tens of thousands of Han Chinese in the area.”

"If this prince goes there, the consequences will be dire!"

"Quickly, think of a way for me to get rid of him without any hindrance!"

Huyan Gu's eyes darted around: "If it's difficult for us to make a move, we can let Budugen and the others do it!"

Budugen was a leader of the Xianbei people who roamed the area north of Yefuling.

Upon hearing this, Hufro's eyes lit up: Great idea!

The Xianbei people were fearless and had long coveted the luxurious world of the Central Plains.

"We immediately sent someone to contact Budugen, and at the same time sent people to inquire near Yanmen Pass to find out where this prince is!"

at the same time.

After the four Han Chinese envoys left the Xiongnu's main tent in Dingxiang, the envoy holding the imperial insignia wiped the sweat from his brow:

"That Yufulo almost killed us just now!"

"Sir, does he really dare to kill us?" the attendant asked.

“Why wouldn’t I dare? But at least I’ve told you what Steward He asked me to do.”

"As for what the Xiongnu intend to do, that's up to them."

The envoy breathed a sigh of relief, "Don't say I've mistreated you. You all got a share of the gold and silver that Steward He sent!"

"Thank you, sir!" The attendants were overjoyed and thanked him profusely.

"My lord, there is something I don't understand. Chief Steward He clearly intends to harm that prince, so why did you tell the Xiongnu that you would guarantee his safety?"

"A servant asked."

"Idiot, this is called strategy, you don't know anything about it!"

Another follower cursed, "This will only incite the hatred of the Xiongnu even more."
