Empress He asked, seemingly casually.

Eunuch Du was startled.

Empress He nodded in satisfaction.
"Your Majesty, Eunuch Du, there's news about General He Miao!"
Empress He and Eunuch Du were delighted: "Tell us quickly!"
The eunuch pulled out a sandalwood box: "Someone brought back a box from Guanzhong, saying that General He Miao gave it to Her Majesty!"
"Open it!"
Empress He said impatiently.
The eunuch's door slowly opened, and Empress He leaned in to take a look. She screamed, her face paled, and she staggered backward.
"Your Majesty, Your Majesty!"
Eunuch Du hurriedly helped Empress He up, and upon looking into the box again, he found only an ear!
It was preserved with lime, so it didn't smell bad.
"Disturbing Her Majesty is a capital offense! Guards, drag him out and give him one hundred strokes of the cane!"
A group of young eunuchs immediately rushed over.
However, the young eunuch tossed the sandalwood box in his hand in front of Eunuch Du and laughed: "Haha!"
The lime inside the sandalwood box scattered, creating a white blur.
Empress He reacted quickly, pulling Eunuch Du aside as a shield.

Empress He was still in shock when she saw Eunuch Du, whose eyes had been ruined.
Soon, a group of Imperial Guards arrived and searched everywhere, but they caught nothing. The spy had already escaped and disappeared without a trace.
It took quite a while for things to quiet down.
"Useless! How could you let Liu Wei's men infiltrate!"
Empress He's face was as cold as ice, and the guards, maids and eunuchs around her dared not utter a sound.
"Your Majesty, the General has arrived!" A eunuch rushed in to report.
"All of you, step back!" Empress He waved her hand in utter annoyance.
It's astonishing that Liu Wei has such a skilled subordinate who appeared before her with such ease.
If I had wanted to kill her just now, wouldn't it have been incredibly easy?
It's just that Liu Wei didn't want to kill her!
"Your Majesty!" Eunuch Du cried out, his eyes bleeding, as he frantically ran on the ground.
"He's a useless fellow. Take him away. I never want to see him again!"
"Your Majesty, I have served you for so many years, you can't do this!" Eunuch Du knew that his fate had come to an end.
What followed was a fate worse than death.
He pleaded desperately, but what could a blind eunuch do?
Empress He remained silent, knowing that Eunuch Du had done many things for her over the years.
However, if someone is blind, they are just a useless person. If we don't drive them away, are we supposed to take care of them in their old age and see them off when they die?
