Chapter 8 VIP Seats VS Last Row, Does Your Face Hurt?
"This is my granddaughter, Xia Mian." Madam Fu immediately introduced Xia Mian to everyone with great enthusiasm. "Mianmian, this is Mrs. Lin, the president of the Lin Group. She is not just a wealthy lady; she personally founded Xu Luo Jewelry."
Xu Luo Jewelry? She submitted a design to Xu Luo Jewelry yesterday!
Xia Mian looked at the elegant and noble Madam Lin and quickly greeted her very politely, "Hello, Madam Lin!"
"Miss Xia looks very young. Are you still in university?" Mrs. Lin asked politely.
"We just finished the college entrance exam." Xia Mian and Madam Fu sat down together.
Madam Lin was very arrogant and did not continue to speak to Xia Mian, but instead focused her attention on the stage.
Xia Mian knew perfectly well that Madam Lin had condescended to speak with her just now entirely out of respect for Old Madam Fu.
She also knew that Madam Lin might have mistaken her for some distant relative of the Fu family, someone who was there to freeload.
After all... these large families have seen too many of these relatives' true colors.
Xia Mian didn't care; what she was thinking about was how to win over Master Yang Bilian!
In the last row of the National Treasure Theater, Lu Lian'er, Xia Qinglin, and Madam Xia sat together in a corner, even though the seating arrangement was tiered.
However, Lu Lian'er still had to crane her neck to see the stage.
She was a little frustrated. The tickets were so expensive, yet she could only sit at the very back. How could she possibly get Master Yang Bilian's attention?
"Big brother...why are we sitting so far apart!" Lu Lian'er pouted her red lips and pleaded with Xia Qinglin, "Can we move to the front?"
“My dear, these three tickets are not cheap. I spent 100,000 yuan to buy them from a scalper.”
Xia Qinglin glanced at the sea of heads in front of him. The seats were all full. Every audience member who could afford a ticket to this performance must have some wealth.
Even if you raise the price, people won't be interested and won't change seats to the last row for that extra money.
Lu Lian'er cursed Xia Qinglin inwardly for being such a useless person, unable to even buy a front-row ticket!
But she didn't show it on her face. She lowered her head in disappointment, her eyes reddening. "I know my brother has done his best. I was just asking for too much."
Xia Qinglin felt a pang of heartache upon seeing her expression. "How can you blame Lian'er! Blame Master Yang for being too hot-tempered!"
Old Madam Xia, leaning on her cane, looked displeased. "Qinglin, what's wrong with you? You can't even buy a ticket properly!"
"Grandma...it's really not my fault." Xia Qinglin had just comforted Lu Lian'er when she turned to comfort her grandmother beside her. "I stayed up all night but couldn't get tickets, so I had to go to scalpers, and they raised the price."
Madam Xia curled her lip, "Next time, you'd better do it earlier!"
How embarrassing it would be if acquaintances saw her, the dignified Madam Xia, sitting in the last row!
She immediately looked around to see if there were any familiar faces.
Fortunately, no.
Madam Xia felt smug again; it seemed that none of the wealthy ladies she knew had managed to get tickets.
A few days later, when they had afternoon tea, she would have new topics to talk about.
Thinking of this, a smug look appeared on her face.
Lu Lian'er stood up and scanned the entire room. When her gaze fell on the first row of VIP seats, she frowned.
Why does one of the girls look like Xia Mian?
"Brother, do you think that girl is Xia Mian?"
She pointed it out to Xia Qinglin.
"How could that be?" Xia Qinglin glanced at it casually. "Xia Mian was taken away by that old lady, who knows where she is! Would she come to such a high-end place?"
Madam Xia snorted coldly, "I think that old woman's clothes and appearance are very ordinary; she's just an ordinary person. We all paid extra to get in, and that old woman isn't capable of bringing her here!"
Lu Lian'er was relieved. "Grandma is right, she doesn't have the money to buy such an expensive ticket."
Thinking of this, Lu Lian'er quickly said to Madam Xia, "Grandma, let's take pictures!"
After taking several selfies with Madam Xia, she specifically selected two that she felt were pretty good, and also took a picture of her ticket.
She posted it on her WeChat Moments, and she was going to be furious with Xia Mian!
"My brother went to great lengths to finally get the tickets, we love him so much! Grandma and I are both huge fans of Master Yang! Being able to listen to him live up close is just the best we can do!"
Before the performance started, Xia Mian was idly scrolling through her WeChat Moments when she saw a nine-grid post from Lu Lian'er, showing the roof of the theater, performance tickets, and a selfie with Madam Xia.
The beauty filter made her look incredibly youthful; all the wrinkles on Old Madam Xia's face were gone, and she looked so young that Xia Mian almost didn't recognize her!
Her long manicured hands covered the seat number on her ticket.
Xia Mian glanced around casually, but didn't see Lu Lian'er or Xia Qinglin.
Based on her understanding of Lu Lian'er, if she were sitting in a front-row seat, even a middle seat...
Lu Lian'er would be eager to show them off.
Instead of deliberately covering up her seat number, it's clear she's sitting in a corner or at the very back.
Xia Mian withdrew her gaze, a hint of sarcasm flashing in her eyes.
Looking at the number of likes on her WeChat Moments, Lu Lian'er felt her vanity satisfied.
Xia Mian also loves opera. She enjoys listening to it and trying to sing along whenever she has free time.
Now that little bitch sees that I actually came to see Master Yang's performance, she's definitely going to be furious! She's definitely going to be jealous, and then she'll go berserk on her brothers again.
It will only earn it more disdain from the older brothers.
Lu Lian'er became more and more excited as she thought about it. She really wanted to see Xia Mian right now and get a close look at Xia Mian's exasperated expression.
After waiting for about ten minutes, the host strolled onto the stage.
First, we introduced some intangible cultural heritage techniques of woodblock printing workshops, and then randomly selected a few audience members to go on stage and experience the coloring of woodblock auspicious New Year paintings.
Everyone was enthusiastic about these intangible cultural heritage experiences and volunteered to go on stage.
Lu Lian'er also wanted to try it, but she was sitting too far back, and the host couldn't see her at all.
She cursed Xia Qinglin in her mind again, calling him a good-for-nothing, an idiot, who couldn't even get a good seat for a ticket!
If it weren't for the fact that the Xia family was somewhat wealthy, and that she couldn't find any other, even wealthier, backers, she would have been able to get close to them.
She dumped those idiots from the Xia family a long time ago.
Xia Qinglin quickly comforted her, "It's just an intangible cultural heritage experience, right? I'll invite these inheritors to my home later and have them personally serve you one-on-one."
Lu Lian'er's eyes lit up immediately, "Really?"
"Of course!" Xia Qinglin readily agreed. "I'll invite them over this weekend."
Sitting in the VIP seats, Xia Mian watched intently as these intangible cultural heritage items were made, and couldn't help but exclaim, "This is truly art!"
"Is Mianmian interested?" Old Madam Fu looked at Xia Mian with affection.
