Chapter 16: Playboy
Shi Yin pursed her lips and said nothing.
Her head was half lowered, so I couldn't see her expression clearly.
After spending a few more days together, Han Zhan realized that she would play dead when she didn't want to reply. He stopped teasing her, put his arm around her shoulders, and brought her forward: "Go pick out a nice dress and fix your hair so you can meet Jin Baili tonight."
"The skirt I'm wearing is pretty good too."
"What's good? Children's clothing." Han Zhan looked her over. He didn't want to dampen his wife's confidence, but he couldn't compliment her against his conscience. "If someone didn't know, they'd think I was abducting a minor."
Shi Yin: “…”
"It's because the girls you usually hang out with are too beautiful and sexy."
"Hmm?" This sentence was interesting. Han Zhan looked down at her. The moment the words left her mouth, Shi Yin realized that she had spoken too quickly. She met the man's fixed dark eyes. She opened her lips to try to explain, but he asked first: "You know me so well, did you check me before registering for marriage?"
He smiled.
His expression was still as cynical as usual.
Shi Yin curled her white fingers, looked at him with clear almond eyes, and whispered, "Everyone says that."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, a playboy."
This name made Han Zhan laugh. In the past, he had been criticized by people in his circle and scolded and judged by his parents. These derogatory words had more or less made him unhappy. But now, coming from Shi Yin's mouth, it was actually quite innocent and cute.
…
At night.
The bright crescent moon hangs in the dome.
Moonlight streamed into the cabin, illuminating Shi Qinghe's fully made-up face. She sat in a wheelchair, and Meng Xi, behind her, pushed her into the elevator and slowly ascended to the VIP room. The woman held a design album, the page open to which was the design for the new dress she was about to present to Jin Baili.
The style is simple.
Low-key yet luxurious.
Especially the bamboo embroidery on the waist, which elevates the aesthetics of the dress to another level. How could someone as ordinary as Shi Yin design such a beautiful thing?
"Miss, we're here."
Hearing Meng Xi's voice, Shi Qinghe closed the album. The waiter at the door opened the door to the private room. Before entering, she raised the corners of her lips and returned to her usual gentle and dignified appearance.
The house is brightly lit.
Several people with Western faces, led by Ms. Jin Baili, were learning oriental entertainment games. They were playing mahjong and had just started. Except for Jin Baili, the other three could not distinguish between Tiao, Wan and Tong.
Shi Qinghe didn't dare to disturb him and just stayed quietly by the side. After waiting for about ten minutes, Jin Baili felt that the man opposite her was learning too slowly and kept misreading the cards, which was affecting her mood. She simply ended the game and immediately turned her eyes to look at Shi Qinghe who was not far away.
The secretary said, "Shi's deputy design director has brought a newly designed dress."
Shi Qinghe called her name before letting Meng Xi push her forward. She smiled gently, handed the album to the woman with both hands, and said in fluent English, "We've reflected on our previous mistakes and made timely improvements. We've designed this dress with rich Chinese elements, perfect for the ZM Cultural Exchange Conference you're about to attend."
Kimberly glanced at her.
No words.
The secretary took the album and flipped to the first page. The hand-drawn line drawings caught her eye, and Jin Baili paused for a moment. Apparently pleased with her new creation, she took the album and examined it for a moment. Her gaze gradually moved upwards, from the designer's signature, "Shi Qinghe," to the bamboo at the waist of the dress. "Don't you know I like the rose, the national flower of Country M?"
Hearing this, Shi Qinghe's face tightened. She subconsciously looked around. The walls were hung with rose oil paintings, and every vase was filled with fresh roses. Even Jin Baili's manicure was a dazzling rose red.
Six months ago, when Shi received the order from Jin Baili, Shi Yin had been working late into the night, sketching and gathering information about her preferences. Shi Yin must have known that Jin Baili liked roses, so she deliberately created a bamboo embroidery this time. Was she trying to trick her?
Shi Yin has become very capable.
Dare to do these little tricks?
In the dark, unobservable corners of the room, Shi Qinghe's eyes darkened as he conjured countless ways to deal with Shi Yin after returning to Beijing if this deal failed! Just then, Jin Baili, seated in the central host seat, spoke again, "You're not the designer of this dress. The fishtail dress delivered three months ago has your name on it, but it wasn't made by you either."
"You misunderstood. This dress was created by me, and the entire design department worked together to polish and refine it."
"Who is she then?"
Shi Qinghe looked in the direction Jin Baili pointed and immediately spotted Shi Yin standing behind the shadows. The shadows were too dark for her to make out Shi Yin's features, but the figure was her beloved sister.
OK.
They all danced in front of Jin Baili.
Could it be that she wanted to take back these two design drawings and make a name for herself?
Shi Qinghe suppressed the rage boiling in her heart, maintained a gentle and graceful expression on her face, and shouted, "Yinyin, why didn't you tell me you were coming to the cruise dinner? I wanted to send someone to take care of you. Mom and Dad were just complaining a few days ago that it wasn't safe for you to move out of the Shi family residence and live alone, so they wanted to bring you home."
This way.
Hidden in the backlight of the corner, Han Zhan glanced down at Shi Yin before him. Without giving her a chance to react, he reached out and pushed her out. Shi Yin stumbled a few steps, regained her footing, and replied to Jin Baili's previous question with clear logic: "Based on your half-life of struggle, I chose the Chinese bamboo."
"Roses have their blooming season, opening in spring and withering in autumn, while bamboo remains evergreen all year round, standing tall and unyielding. The same is true for women. Appearance is just an embellishment; going further and standing taller should be the lifelong pursuit."
"The day you chose bamboo, I happened to be watching a video of you running for council. You stood out among the men, like a green bamboo among a sea of flowers. They will wither with the seasons, but you never will."
"I think if there were more women in power like you in the future, the world would be a better place. Just like this clean suite, without the choking smell of cigarettes and the bullying drinking parties."
Kimberly smiled.
She gazed at the speaker with admiration. Despite her youth, she possessed a broad perspective. She looked like a delicate, vulnerable young woman, vulnerable to being bullied, but she possessed a hidden resilience. It was as if she had been oppressed for so long that she was finally fighting back.
Jin Baili spoke again, speaking in Chinese: "Did you also make the mermaid dress from three months ago?"
"Yes."
"Very beautiful, including this one tonight, I like them all." Jin Baili turned her head and her eyes fell on Han Zhan behind Shi Yin: "Mr. Han, the pigeon blood Moroccan ruby ring is a gift to you."
It was also at this moment that Shi Qinghe discovered that there was another person in the suite.
It’s Han Zhan!
When did Shi Yin become involved with Han Zhan?
