Chapter 24 Snow Cake

Chapter 24 Snow Cake

Shi Yin looked around.

The laptop on the desk was open and the cell phone was there, but there was no sign of him.

The door inside was opened.

The moment she heard the voice, Shi Yin instinctively turned to look. The enchanting scene suddenly struck her eyes, and she was so startled that she almost dropped the cake in her hands. She quickly turned back and squeezed her eyes shut a few times, as if that would block out the scene she had just witnessed.

Han Zhan's pleasant chuckle came from behind. As his footsteps approached, the strong smell of male hormones gradually enveloped Shi Yin: "Is there something you want to talk to me about? My wife?"

Calm down for a few seconds.

The disordered heartbeat finally calmed down a little.

Shi Yin took a few deep breaths and placed the cake in her hand on the desk in front of her: "I brought some snow cake from Han's house for dinner. Uncle Han said that we should enjoy it while it's fresh. If it's left for a long time, it won't taste good. I can't finish it by myself, so I packed some for you."

"Then I am not blessed by you?"

"What?"

"This is what mom gave you."

"We are a married couple." Shi Yin raised her eyes and saw his handsome face. The gray shadow of the light fell on his face, making it difficult to see his expression. "Husband and wife are one. What Mom gave me is also for you."

Han Zhan's eyebrows twitched a few times.

No words.

He was already wearing a bathrobe, but the belt around his waist was tied very loosely. The open neckline revealed his tan skin, and the muscles beneath his sexy collarbone were faintly visible. Unlike the exaggerated muscles of a fitness trainer, his muscles were naturally thin. He looked thin when dressed and had more flesh without clothes.

Shi Yin's gaze lingered there for a few seconds before she turned her head away. She took a few steps to the side, making sure she could no longer sense the lingering steam around him, before speaking again: "Brother added me on WeChat and sent me a red envelope as a welcome gift."

"Give you a house?"

"No."

"A car?"

“Not really.”

"Han Zheng is so stingy now that he didn't even give his sister-in-law a car as a gift? I'm going to his private villa tomorrow and kill his most beloved goldfish."

Shi Yin: “…”

"Big Brother gave me a blank check, saying I could fill in the amount and have Han's secretary deliver it to me tomorrow morning." Shi Yin explained promptly, adding, "I felt the gift was too valuable, so I just thanked him and confiscated it."

"I'll only get married once, and I'll only have one wife. It's only natural for Han Zheng to give me a blank check." Han Zhan looked down at her, his tone gentle: "I don't dare buy a big diamond ring, and I don't dare accept a big red envelope. Are you so frugal that you're going to die?"

Shi Yin again: "..."

Naturally, she didn't take his words about only getting married once to heart.

He is best at coaxing people.

Few words spoken are true.

Shi Yin walked around him and headed straight for the door. Han Zhan followed her gaze and asked, "Would you like to play for a while?"

"I'll go count the red envelopes."

"Give me half, wife?"

"I'll give you my share if the total is an even number after I count it." As soon as Shi Yin finished speaking, she realized that she, who rarely joked, had actually made a joke. As the saying goes, "A red plum blossoms when it's near a red plum, and a black plum blossom when it's near a black plum." After just a few days living under the same roof with Han, she had already been led astray by him.

She opened the door and walked out. Han Zhan's instructions came from behind her. He said that it was cold at night in winter, so she should cover herself tightly with the quilt and turn up the heating so as not to catch a cold.

The door is closed.

The room fell completely silent.

Han Zhan stood there, his gaze fixed on the direction Shi Yin had left. The playful smile on the man's face gradually faded, and his peach blossom eyes, which had looked so affectionately at the telephone poles, were now like the night outside the window, deep and unfathomable, without a trace of warmth.

Han Zhan withdrew his gaze.

He turned his eyes to look at the pure white snow cake on the desk.

Shi Yin likes money.

I feel safe when I see the golden RMB.

She curled up on the chaise longue in the master bedroom, turning on the light and counting all the red envelopes in her shopping basket and bag. Some contained stacks of banknotes, some contained a bank card, and some contained checks, totaling 388,000 yuan.

It's an even number.

Shi Yin threw off the blanket and had just put on her slippers when her phone vibrated a few times. It was a group she had joined when she was an exchange student at HU. A professor from the academy was visiting Beijing and they were planning a dinner together, and everyone was chatting in the group.

Lunch at noon this Friday.

1. Xu Zhilin

2. Guan Tian

18. Meng Xi

19. Liang Huannian

Shi Yin saw Meng Xi's name almost the moment she scanned the screen. She typed and replied in a chain reaction: "32. Shi Yin"

After sending the message, Shi Yin put down her phone and glanced at the clock on the wall. It showed 10:35 pm. For a playful person like Han Shao, this time should be the time when they are most energetic.

He probably didn't sleep.

Shi Yin took the counted red envelopes and walked out the door to the study. To prevent the embarrassing scene from a few hours ago from happening again, she planned to knock on the door and wait for an echo before going in. However, when she reached the door of the study, she found it ajar.

She knocked twice.

No one answered.

Shi Yinyan frowned slightly and slowly pushed the door open. She saw an empty room. Han Zhan wasn't there. Where had he been in the middle of the night? With this question in mind, Shi Yin entered the room. Nothing had changed. The laptop was still on, his phone was still on the desk. Only the plate of snow cakes was empty; they were all gone.
