Chapter 6 Shi Yin is My Wife
Shi Yin stayed in the living room on the first floor for a long time.
Organize design drawings.
Connect with the customers in her private order.
The evening light streamed in through the French windows, falling on the woman's gentle face. Along with the afterglow came the whisper of a servant who had just entered the living room: "Madam, you've been busy all afternoon. Why don't you go for a walk in the back lake to stretch your legs?"
Shi Yin thought so too.
She nodded.
I closed my laptop, stood up from the carpet, picked up my coat draped across the sofa, and walked through the corridor to the courtyard through the side door. Back Lake was beautiful, and the dozen or so golden osmanthus trees planted along the shore were in bloom, their fragrance filling the air and refreshing the senses.
"Did Han Zhan plant this osmanthus tree?" Shi Yin asked.
"The developer brought them," the servant replied, chattering on. "My husband is out on business and doesn't come home very often. He's only been back five times this year: New Year's Day, Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and last month's Double Ninth Festival. He always prepared gifts for us, and it was really thoughtful."
Hearing this.
Shi Yin glanced at her calmly, and followed her mood and said, "You are very beautiful."
The maid's ears immediately turned red.
Lower your head and cover your face.
Shi Yin curled her lips silently and looked away expressionlessly. She continued walking along the cobblestone road, unable to help but internally complain about Han Zhan. He was a true playboy, able to capture the hearts of women outside and even those at home. He was a complete scumbag.
"Ash ran out!"
"It will bite!"
"Be careful—"
As noisy sounds flooded into Shi Yin's ears like a tide, a huge and ferocious hunting dog came into his sight. To describe it as a dog would be an underestimation of it. Looking at its bloodthirsty eyes and sharp steps, it was far more brutal than the wolves in the primitive wilderness.
Before Shi Yin could fully see the appearance of the ferocious dog, a hand suddenly reached out from behind and pushed her shoulder hard. She was caught off guard and immediately lost her balance and fell over. She staggered several steps and leaned against the flower stand beside her.
The wooden flower stand tipped over.
The flowerpot was broken.
The sound instantly caught the hound's attention, and it changed direction, charging straight at Shi Yin. It was so fast, so fast that a normal person couldn't possibly escape. Shi Yin suddenly gripped the wooden planks of the flower stand tightly, her rationality suppressing her instinctive fear. Just before the beast opened its claws and pounced, she caught a glimpse of something subtle about it.
…
Half an hour ago.
A private dinner at a villa on the outskirts of the city.
Han Zhan was in a bad mood after going around in circles for a while and not finding the person he wanted to see. Lu Cheng came over with a drink, but seeing his cold face, he tactfully stepped away.
At the end of this month, Han Zhan's mother was celebrating her fiftieth birthday, and he planned to give her the ruby ring she had long admired but never gotten. The ring had been sold to a mysterious buyer at Sotheby's a few years earlier, and after much investigation, they finally discovered the buyer was Ms. Berley, a member of the U.S. Congress.
I heard that she came to Beijing recently.
Come to the dinner again tonight.
Han Zhan had come here specifically, intending to meet her, negotiate terms, and buy the ring from her. Unfortunately, she was absent tonight, reportedly going to try on clothes. What dress could be more important than a private banquet for a royal noble? So important that Ms. Berlet had to try it on herself.
Lu Cheng handed over a glass of champagne and comforted her, "Berley will attend the Royal Cruise dinner the day after tomorrow. If you go there then, you will definitely see her."
Before he finished speaking, a group of young men from the circle gathered around and took their seats with playful smiles. The leader even patted Han Zhan on the shoulder and smiled without any manners: "Brother Zhan, what a coincidence, you are here at the party too!"
Seeing this scene, Lu Cheng's heart suddenly hung in the air.
He glanced at the person who was joking and kept signaling him to take his younger brother and leave quickly. However, the young man couldn't understand his expression and sat down next to Han Zhan.
Lu Cheng closed his eyes.
A chill ran down my back.
Everyone thought Han Zhan was very easy to talk to, humorous and friendly, without any airs, and always smiling. He never lost his temper or showed a cold face in front of others. Naturally, everyone thought he had a good temper and would never get angry no matter how they messed with him.
Not to mention these young masters, even the servants in his private residence were very brave. Everyone was so used to his indifferent attitude towards everything that they forgot that he was born into a wealthy family and had the coldness and arrogance of an aristocratic family in his bones.
"Brother Zhan, I heard you got married to that unlucky second daughter of the Shi family?"
As soon as these words came out, Lu Cheng, who was sitting on the sofa opposite him, met Han Zhan's cold gaze in the backlight. He immediately raised his hand to clear himself: "I never tell your private affairs to others."
"You don't need Master Lu to tell me. Someone in my family works at the Civil Affairs Bureau. He saw the news of Brother Zhan's registration today and told me about it. I was curious about who the woman was, so I went over to take a look. Wow, it was Shi Yin!"
"Brother Zhan, how could you possibly let go of this? You married Shi Yin. When Song Sinian got engaged to her, we felt sorry for him. Recently, when we saw Song Sinian walking with Shi Qinghe, the eldest daughter of the Shi family, everyone applauded and praised him, saying that he had finally let go of this pit that was Shi Yin."
"Cheng Qing, you've had too much to drink!" Lu Cheng interrupted harshly.
"Thank you for your concern, Mr. Lu. I can drink quite well." Cheng Qing was talking excitedly and couldn't stop talking at all. He turned his head and joked to Han Zhan again: "Brother Zhan, how about I help you find a better one? Let's forget about Shi Yin. It will affect your luck."
Han Zhan smiled.
He clutched the goblet in his hand and tilted his head to look at the chattering person beside him. The seats were out of the light, and the surroundings were dim. Facing Han Zhan's cold, dark eyes up close, Cheng Qing felt a sudden pressure, his nerves tense, the playful expression on his face instantly disappearing. The words he hadn't finished were stuck in his throat, unable to come out.
"Do you look down on Shi Yin, or do you look down on me?" Han Zhan asked.
"Zhan, Brother Zhan, that's not what I meant. How could I possibly look down on you? Even if I had ten guts, I wouldn't dare—"
Crash.
Champagne poured down from Cheng Qing's head, and the cold liquid flowed down the man's cheek to his neck. Cheng Qing suddenly sobered up, and without caring about the embarrassment, he stood up and apologized: "I drank too much, I'm sorry, Mr. Han, I didn't mean it-"
There was a loud bang.
The goblet smashed on Cheng Qing's head.
Tiny shards of glass pierced the man's flesh, leaving several scratches on his forehead. If there had been some murmurs and discussions around him when the wine was poured, now the silence was deathly still. Everyone kept their mouths shut, no one dared to say a word.
Lu Cheng was also surprised.
He had never expected that Han Zhan would take action. In the banquet hall, in front of so many people, he directly smashed the wine glass on Cheng Qing's head. After all, the Cheng family was one of the eight major families, a well-known family in the Beijing circle. Even if he didn't give face to Cheng Qing, he had to give face to the Cheng family!
Lu Cheng stood up and walked around the English wine table in the middle. He walked quickly to Han Zhan and took his friend's arm. As if he knew he wanted to be a peacemaker, Young Master Han did not give him a chance to speak. He glanced at him coldly and told Lu Cheng to shut up.
Looking at Cheng Qing, who was still bleeding, Han Zhan smiled, seemingly still as easygoing and humorous as usual. He walked forward, took off his watch and threw it at Cheng Qing's feet.
"Medical expenses, aren't you going to pick it up?" Han Zhan raised his eyebrows.
After all, he was the young master of the Cheng family, possessing a high and mighty dignity. Cheng Qing hesitated for a few seconds, then bent down and reached out to pick up the watch. As he lowered his gaze, he saw Han Zhan's shiny black leather shoes and straight trouser legs, and then heard Han's voice: "What kind of rubbish is it, you dare to point fingers at my people?"
