Chapter 97 Today is a good day
Shi Yin raised her eyes and gave him a glare.
Say he is not serious.
She stuffed the clothes in her hand into his arms, turned and left the bedroom to give him private space to change clothes. Before she could take a step, he grabbed her wrist.
The palms were forced to open.
The ointment for reducing swelling and relieving pain suddenly appeared in the sight of the two people.
Han Zhan put away his playful expression, looked at her, and asked, "Where are you hurt, my wife?"
"The back of my hand is a little scratched." Shi Yin's expression remained unchanged. He lifted the bottom of his sleeve and saw that there were indeed traces of bumps around his slender white fingers. "I guess he bumped into something when his mind wasn't clear after drinking that glass of wine."
"I'll apply medicine for you."
"Don't bother you—"
"You are my wife, and it is my duty to care for and love you. When serving my wife, I have to do my best and there is no trouble." His words are always very nice, and people are inadvertently drawn in by him.
When Shi Yin came to her senses, she found herself sitting on the sofa.
There is a medicine box on the table.
He took the alcohol and cotton swabs, and while holding the back of her slightly injured hand, he lowered his eyes and gently disinfected the broken wound, then applied ointment and put on a Band-Aid.
He is very patient.
Every movement is full of tenderness.
Shi Yin seemed to be attracted by something, her eyes fixed on his handsome face, and she stared at him for a long time. It was only when she met his deep, inky black eyes that she suddenly came back to her senses.
"If you get hurt, tell me right away." Han Zhan told her.
"Um……"
"Did you really listen or just pay lip service?"
Han Zhan glanced at her sideways. After spending so many days together, he had come to understand her more deeply, realizing that she was a double-faced person, her personality contradicting her appearance. She appeared docile, so docile that if you threw her in a crowd, you'd forget she existed, like a lamb to be manipulated. In reality, she was a delicate, cautious, and careful person, never revealing her innermost thoughts, like a snail hiding in its shell.
They say crying children get candy.
She never complained, never sought sympathy. When hurt, she would just curl up in a corner and lick her wounds. Han Zhan understood her because they had a similar psychological journey and could empathize with her.
Han Zhan pinched her soft fingers and tried to cheer her up: "Wife, I feel bad when you get hurt. Can you bear to see me unable to sleep, eat, and toss and turn worrying about you? So, promise me that you will tell me immediately if you encounter any problems in the future. I still have a little bit of ability."
He speaks humorously.
The expressions are vivid.
Shi Yin was really amused by him.
Perhaps it was because he had coaxed so many girls that he was so experienced that he could easily control a girl with just a few words. Regardless of the reason, it was an indisputable fact that Shi Yin was always easily coaxed into happiness by him.
Shi Yin nodded and replied: "I understand."
He touched her head.
Praise her for being well behaved.
Watching him stand up and walk away, his back disappearing at the bedroom door, Shi Yin withdrew her gaze and looked down at the recently applied bandage on the back of her hand. She reached out and touched it tentatively a few times.
Slightly warm.
His warmth is still on it.
…
Twenty minutes later.
Shi Yin and Han Zhan left the box.
Passing through the main banquet hall, Shi Yin glanced sideways. The mess on the floor, the smashed LED screen—just looking at this wedding venue, which looked like it had been hit by a tsunami, gave her an idea of how chaotic the night had been.
Left the hotel.
A Porsche Macan drives along a quiet city street.
It was still dark, and at around four in the morning, the capital had lost its hustle and bustle. Shi Yin was driving past the intersection when she heard Han Zhan in the passenger seat ask, "Honey, are you free today?"
"What's wrong?"
"Today is a good day."
Shi Yin frowned.
Today is March 12th, which is neither a legal holiday nor the Buddha's birthday. If workers don't get a day off and superstitious people have no psychological comfort, how can it be considered a good day?
Han Zhan looked at her and asked, "Guess what big thing happened today?"
He spoke very seriously.
It seemed as if something earth-shattering was really about to happen.
Shi Yin thought about it carefully, "The Han family is offering sacrifices to their ancestors?"
"no."
"Shine, a major international chaebol company, is opening for business?"
“That’s not right.”
"The anniversary of your acquaintance with Lu Cheng?"
"I am a man with normal sexual orientation." Han Zhan's face turned black.
"Sorry." Shi Yin touched his nose.
She had originally wanted to ask if today was the anniversary of him and one of his best ex-girlfriends. Fearing he might think she was prying into his privacy, interfering in his personal life, and violating the rules of their contractual marriage, Shi Yin didn't say anything and instead mentioned the date he and Lu Cheng met.
Obviously.
Shi Yin couldn't guess what was so good about this good day.
After stopping the car at the traffic light, she turned around and said to him in his usual joking tone, "Second Young Master, my brain lacks imagination and I can't guess the answer. Please be kind and tell me."
Han Zhan remained silent.
He just turned the phone screen around to face her.
A red marriage certificate with the national seal came into her sight, along with a photo of the couple, who were obviously not familiar with each other, forcing smiles on their faces.
Got the certificate in early January.
It's not a wedding anniversary either.
Shi Yin was about to look away when her peripheral vision caught sight of a string of numbers. She looked closely at her birthdate, and the thought came to her mind, yet it seemed unrealistic. After much hesitation, she couldn't bring herself to say, "A lucky day is your birthday."
"Of course this good day is your birthday."
"I checked the almanac, and there's no better day of the year than this one."
"So, honey, if you're free today, let's go to the temple and burn some incense to thank God for bringing you into this world twenty-three years ago today. Then, give me some time so I can celebrate your birthday and share in your joy. If you want to keep all the joy for yourself, I don't need to share in it."
"Wife, is that okay?"
He said several sentences in a row.
Every word is clear.
Shi Yin also heard it clearly.
Not knowing what she was thinking, she was a little dazed. She didn't go immediately when the green light came on. The car behind her honked its horn to warn her. Shi Yin suddenly turned her head, stepped on the accelerator and drove through the intersection.
After driving for a distance, she looked at the central control screen again. It showed: "March 12, 2026."
It's her birthday.
A birthday that neither of her biological parents remembered.
A birthday that was determined by a fortune teller to be unlucky.
Shi Yin actually doesn't like this day very much. If she had been born earlier or later, she might not have been a disaster, her parents would not have disliked her, and people in her circle would not have excluded and isolated her.
After receiving treatment, Dr. Rong told her one word: "Likes and dislikes have the same cause."
Her date of birth remained unchanged.
Some people think this time is a disaster and avoid it, while others say it is the most auspicious day of the year and there is no better day than this.
Han Zhan is the latter.
Shi Yin didn't know if he was just trying to cheer her up or if he really felt that way. In any case, she was very happy that he could say that.
The sky gradually brightened.
The soft morning light broke through the clouds and fell into the car.
Shi Yin looked in the direction of the light, and saw Han Zhan's bright face.
