Jing Muchen looked at the girl squatting in the corner eating. What could he say? Actually, he understood her very well.
Because Jing Muchen was similar to her back then, very poor, without money, no status, even unable to eat, and often bullied. If he hadn't met Xiaorou's mother, Jing Muchen wouldn't be what he is now.
But this girl was not as lucky as he was. Without anyone to help her, her life will only go downhill. It will be very difficult.
Jing Muchen picked up the dish she cooked with chopsticks and put it in his mouth. It was surprisingly delicious, with a taste of Xiaorou's mother's. Xiaorou's mother also used to cook these dishes.
Jing Muchen had tasted it when he was very young, but the opportunity was too rare, only two or three times, and he always missed the taste. Tonight, Jing Muchen ate two bowls of dinner, but why did even the rice she cooked smell so good?
After dinner.
Jing Muchen called the girl to the study. He sat in the boss chair, put his hands together and placed them flat on the desk. He looked at her very seriously and wanted to ask her some questions.
"I'll ask you some questions and you answer them truthfully." Jing Muchen was very straightforward. He never liked beating around the bush.
"Yeah." The girl nodded.
She knew that Jing Muchen was not a bad person, and he let her stay in such a nice house for one night. She was very grateful to him.
"What's your name?" Jing Muchen asked.
Jing Muchen knew that she couldn't speak, so he gave her a small blackboard where she could write the answers with a black pen. When he asked the next question, she would erase it and write it again.
"Zhou Mengmeng." The girl wrote.
Zhou Mengmeng? I don't think it fits her at all. She's not cute at all, but she's pretty, though a bit timid.
"Where are you from?" Jing Muchen asked again.
"Zhoujia Village." Zhou Mengmeng continued to write.
Zhoujia Village?
Jing Muchen suddenly remembered that Xiaorou's mother seemed to be from there as well. He seemed to have heard her mention it once when he was a child, and with Jing Muchen's memory, he would definitely not be wrong.
No wonder. No wonder the dish she just cooked tasted a bit like Xiaorou's mother's. It turned out they came from the same place. Jing Muchen's eyes changed when he looked at Zhou Mengmeng. He could find too much intimacy in her. Those feelings were the feelings he had not seen for a long time and wanted to find again.
The older Jing Muchen gets, the simpler things he wants. It's not money or status, but just some simple things that can bring him spiritual comfort.
"Who are those two people chasing you today? What's your relationship with them?" Jing Muchen asked.
"They are my uncle and aunt, and they want me to go back to the countryside and get married," Zhou Mengmeng wrote.
She didn't want to marry Wang Mazi from the village, and she didn't want to be used by her uncle and aunt in exchange for a betrothal gift.
"So, you came to the city just to escape your marriage?" Jing Muchen asked again.
Zhou Mengmeng shook her head. Of course, things were not that simple.
"I came to the city to find my father. When my mother died, she told me that my father was here," Zhou Mengmeng wrote.
Looking for dad?
It looked like they hadn't seen each other for years. I'm afraid she herself hadn't figured out how to find her father! Jing Muchen had connections and might be able to help, which would be better than her looking for a needle in a haystack, searching the world for someone.
"Have you seen your father?" Jing Muchen asked again.
Zhou Mengmeng shook her head, a somewhat depressed expression on her face. She shook her head, not knowing how to find her father or where he was.
Besides, she didn't have much money, so she had to find a job before looking for her father! Otherwise, she would starve to death before she found her father.
"Then how do you plan to find it?" Jing Muchen asked again.
In fact, he could offer her help as a way of expressing his apology for hitting her while driving carelessly. Jing Muchen wanted to help her more because she was like himself back then.
In the most dangerous times, you especially need someone to help you. Lending a helping hand may change the other person's life. He will be like Xiaorou's father back then.
Zhou Mengmeng shook her head. She hadn't thought about it yet, but she would find a way. Finding her father was her own business.
"Maybe I can help you." Jing Muchen said.
He offered to help Zhou Mengmeng, but she shook her head because she really didn't want to trouble him.
"It's getting late, you should go to bed first! We'll discuss this matter tomorrow morning." Jing Muchen said lightly.
He asked the servant to arrange Zhou Mengmeng in the living room. He actually didn't plan to let Zhou Mengmeng leave again. He could let her stay at home as a servant. He liked the food she cooked.
And she just happened to need a job, at least until she found her father.
The next day, early morning!
When Jing Muchen got up, he saw breakfast on the dining table again. He knew at a glance that it was prepared by Zhou Mengmeng. Jing Muchen smiled, sat down and prepared to eat.
etc.
Where is she?
Jing Muchen looked around. Since she had even prepared breakfast, she couldn't be sleeping in. Where had she gone?
"Where is she?" Jing Muchen asked the servant.
"Mr. Jing, she's gone, but she left a letter for you before she left." The servant placed the letter in front of Jing Muchen.
He opened the letter and found that Zhou Mengmeng's handwriting was quite good. Although she came from the countryside, she had a beautiful handwriting. She was also a little girl with a story!
"Don't worry about what happened yesterday. My leg is fine. Thank you for bringing me home in the heavy rain and letting me stay at your house for one night. If it weren't for you, I might have been soaked on the street last night. I'm leaving now. I'm going to find my dad. Thank you for taking care of me. Thank you."
Zhou Mengmeng's letter was very simple, without any special emotions. She just told Jing Muchen that she was leaving and wanted to go back to her world, and he wanted the same.
