Chapter 33: Fighting for Child Custody
Cheng Qian rubbed her eyes, feeling unbearable soreness.
"Mom...Mom, aunt and I are here." A baby voice came, interrupting Cheng Qian's thoughts.
Cheng Qian swallowed the bitterness and looked gently towards the source of the sound.
A small figure happily jumped towards her.
After only one day of not seeing her, the little guy was already very clingy, hugging her neck, holding her face with his little hands, and kissing her twice on the face.
When Ye Zhu saw this scene, she also smiled with relief.
Cheng Qian had already ordered the food, and the three of them sat down and waited for their meal.
"Xiao Qian, your relationship with Mr. Li..." Ye Zhu saw Li Zhinan at home today.
The noble temperament in his bones is intimidating, and his tone is quite cold.
Ye Zhu always felt that this was not the way a couple should get along.
"Aunt, let's eat first and not talk about this." Cheng Qian felt sad and forced a smile.
Ye Zhu didn't ask any more questions, but she felt distressed in her heart.
When her brother-in-law and sister died in a car accident, Cheng Qian, who was only 22 years old, hurried back from abroad. The laboratory was also facing the risk of closure, partners and shareholders were pressing hard, and the debt crisis made the young girl at a loss.
After lunch, Cheng Qian drove her aunt home, and she also took her son back to the villa.
The little guy fell asleep in the car. While waiting for the traffic light, he seemed to be dreaming. He stretched out his little hand and waved it in the air, as if trying to grab something: "Mom, don't go..."
Cheng Qian looked through the rearview mirror and saw her son dreaming, and she felt like her heart was burning on fire.
After returning home, Cheng Qian quickly opened the back door and gently hugged her son.
I saw two tear marks on his fair and tender little face.
I had a nightmare and cried in the dream.
Cheng Qian lowered her head and rubbed her face against the child's face, feeling extremely distressed.
Cheng Qian took a deep breath and suddenly thought of something. If she could develop a medicine to cure Li Zhiwei and use it as a condition to exchange for her son, the success rate would be higher.
Thinking of this, Cheng Qian took firm steps and stepped into the living room.
From this moment on, she must concentrate all her energy on making this research a reality.
After gently placing the child on the bed and covering him with a quilt, Cheng Qian sat on the sofa next to him with a notebook.
The cause of Li Zhiwei's illness is a gene mutation, so Cheng Qian must also seek a solution from a genetic breakthrough. In her lecture today, she also heard about a nanotherapy, which is a new treatment method with fewer side effects obtained through in-depth research by physical scientists.
Cheng Qian's eyes flashed. Qiao Silin was currently researching nanotechnology. She could have dinner with him in the evening and ask him for further advice.
At around six o'clock in the afternoon, after her child woke up, Cheng Qian put down her computer and devoted herself to playing with him in the playroom, helping him build blocks and read picture books.
Xiao Ye, who is only two years and eight months old, seems to like the level 2 Rubik's Cube. After Cheng Qian taught him a few times, he started playing it by himself.
Cheng Qian's phone lit up and a text message came in.
It was Qiao Silin who sent her the address of the restaurant.
Cheng Qian knew that her son was a bit clingy now. If she left him at home with his aunt, the little guy would refuse.
She took out her cell phone and called Li Zhinan.
I answered the phone and there was some noise on the other end, as if they were having a dinner party.
"What's the matter?" the man said indifferently.
Cheng Qian saw that he had an appointment, so she thought for a moment and said, "It's okay, you're busy."
After Cheng Qian hung up the phone, she sent a text message to Qiao Silin: "Excuse me, can I bring the child over?"
Qiao Silin replied: "???"
Three question marks.
Cheng Qian had no choice but to explain: "There is no one at home to help take care of the children. If it is not convenient, then we can talk about it another day."
A few seconds later, Qiao Silin replied with three words: "Bring it here."
After getting his consent, Cheng Qian changed her son into a handsome outfit and carried him downstairs.
After telling her aunt about the matter, Cheng Qian drove out with her son.
In a French restaurant with an excellent environment, Cheng Qian appeared in front of Qiao Silin holding her son.
Qiao Silin's handsome face was filled with shock. He couldn't believe that Cheng Qian actually had a child.
"You...are married?" Qiao Silin was surprised. "And you have a child this old?"
Cheng Qian laughed dryly twice: "Yes, this is my son, Xiaoye."
"Uncle, you are so handsome..." Xiao Ye immediately showed his little teeth and praised Qiao Silin.
Qiao Silin: “…”
Cheng Qian shyly covered her son's mouth and said, "You can't greet an uncle like this when you meet him for the first time. You should say hello."
Ono blinked his big black eyes innocently. Isn't this what his mommy taught him?
Qiao Silin stood up, pulled the chair out for her, called the waiter, and asked for a child seat.
"I'm surprised. I thought you were single." Qiao Silin couldn't tell for a moment whether he was disappointed or something else.
Cheng Qian has a pure face, like a college student who has just graduated, and her eyes are clear.
"Little boy, uncle will order whatever you want to eat." Qiao Silin could only accept the fact.
"I want to eat ice cream. Uncle, can you give it to me too?" Ono asked mischievously.
"Well..." Qiao Silin looked at Cheng Qian.
Cheng Qian shook her head.
Qiao Silin had no choice but to coax her gently, "I'm afraid it won't work. Children can't eat cold food. It will make their stomachs uncomfortable."
"Hmph...Uncle is lying." Ono crossed his arms over his chest, his temper rising.
"Xiao Ye!" Cheng Qian's voice came with maternal authority.
Xiao Ye immediately sat up straight and reorganized his words: "Uncle, I want to eat shrimp."
Qiao Silin looked at the little guy. His body looked quite strong. Then he looked at Cheng Qian. She was 1.68 meters tall and slender. It was hard to imagine how she could give birth to such a fat boy.
"Dr. Qiao, I heard that you have been researching nanotechnology recently. I wonder if there have been any breakthroughs?" Cheng Qian asked him softly.
Qiao Silin nodded: "Yes, there is, but it still requires clinical trials."
"Do you have any ideas about cystic fibrosis?" Cheng Qian looked at him with bright eyes.
Qiao Silin was stunned for a moment, then replied, "We are using nanoparticles to deliver targeted therapy to affected cells. For patients who experience side effects from drugs, this therapy can mitigate the damage caused by these side effects."
When Cheng Qian heard this, she was delighted. If she could get Qiao Silin into the seed laboratory, she could verify gene therapy and physical therapy with him at the same time, which would increase her chances.
"Dr. Qiao, I heard that you just returned from a laboratory abroad. I wonder where you plan to go next?" Cheng Qian asked sincerely, but there was a hint of expectation in her eyes.
Qiao Silin looked at the beautiful woman in front of him. Putting aside the fact that she was married with children, she had a positive energy, just like the rising sun, the light she emitted was impossible to ignore.
"There are many biological companies that want to win me over, and I'm considering it." Qiao Silin picked up a cup of tea and drank it slowly.
"Then could you consider the Seed Research Institute?" Cheng Qian asked him in a low voice, holding her breath.
Qiao Silin's handsome brows knitted slightly. "The Seed Research Institute is a newly established laboratory. I heard they haven't even purchased all the equipment yet. With several companies investing in it, it seems to have a bright future, but it's also a tool for capital profit. I'm afraid it's not just a testing ground, but more of a place to incubate commercial drugs."
Cheng Qian laughed dryly and explained, "No matter what kind of drug is being developed, the ultimate goal is to bring it to market and save patients. Research and commercial value have always been inseparable."
Qiao Silin didn't comment, but just laughed: "Then what is Miss Cheng's purpose in joining the Seed Research Institute?"
Cheng Qian was stunned, her mind racing. If she said it was to fulfill her parents' dream, it would seem hypocritical, and if she said it was for money, it would be snobbish. Finally, Cheng Qian got excited and thought of a reason that she must stick to it.
"I'm fighting for the custody of my child." Cheng Qian took a deep breath and spoke in a low voice.
