Han Zijin also sat up, glancing at the old women, "You've made such a big fuss today, are you trying to let the world know how deeply you love me, and that you suspect I have another woman, so you're jealous here in the middle of the night?"
He began to put on his shoes, his tone sarcastic, "Your so-called deep affection is nothing but a facade you put on for the emperor."
The reason you didn't marry me back then wasn't because you loved me that much, but because you didn't like the inferior ones, and the emperor would be wary of the better ones if you married into the family.
"Kang Le, all these years you've used me, disguising yourself as a princess obsessed with love, to lower the emperor's guard. Aren't you tired of that?"
Kang Le's eyes widened, and a murderous intent flashed across them.
Then, adopting the demeanor of a wronged woman, she said, "Han Zijin, do you have any conscience? How could you treat my feelings for you like this?"
She wouldn't let it go, grabbing his arm and crying, "Tell me, are you seeing someone else? That's why you're treating me like this!"
Han Zijin narrowed his eyes.
He was simply acting against his will, not out of stupidity; he had long understood Kang Le's true intentions.
The reason we haven't exposed her all these years is simply because we see her fall from grace and now she has to live under the emperor's nose, which is pitiful.
But now that he knows his family has been destroyed and his life ruined, it is highly likely that Kang Le was behind it, and he can no longer be bothered to play along with her.
But Kang Le's reaction seemed too strong, and he didn't miss the murderous intent in her eyes.
He had always thought that Kang Le was pretending to be someone else just because she was afraid of being disliked by the emperor. But the emperor hadn't made things difficult for her all these years. He had only exposed her true intentions. Was it really necessary to kill him?
Or is the reason something else entirely?
