Chapter 116 Factory Building 4

Xia Liang called back to the county town and asked her father to quit his job and help her manage the factory. When Xia Dahe heard that his daughter had bought a factory and he had become the factory manager, he was momentarily speechless. But after regaining his composure, he agreed. Anyway, he was well-off now, and he was happy to help his daughter. He took his wife and daughter-in-law, bought train tickets to Beijing, locked the door, and set off. At Xia Liang's suggestion, they bought the courtyard in the county town. Now they wouldn't have to worry about not having a place to live, and they would have a place to call home. Thinking of this, Xia Dahe felt much more at ease.

Over the next few days, Xia Liang went to the shop as usual. Her two daughters and niece would help her if they went, while she stayed in the processing room to work on the clothes. Seeing that the clothes she sold in a day far exceeded the clothes she made, Xia Liang knew that she had made the right decision in buying this garment factory. Once the factory started operating, her shop would not be enough, and she would have to open several more branches and franchise stores. Thinking of this, Xia Liang was so excited that she almost laughed out loud. After all, in her previous life, she was just a factory worker. Although she had some ability, it was only a little. She couldn't even afford to buy a house outright. Thinking of houses, Xia Liang thought of her current courtyard house. She had to look for one to sell so she could take advantage of the opportunity to find a bargain. After all, once this opportunity was gone, it would be gone forever.

On the third day, the bank called and asked Xia Liang to come over. Overjoyed, Xia Liang told her brother to watch the shop and rode her bicycle to the bank alone. Based on her assets, a loan of two million was approved. Xia Liang was no longer worried; she could easily buy two more furniture factories, let alone the furniture factory itself. With the two million in her savings account, Xia Liang went directly to Ji Xiao's house and, together with Ji Xiao, went to the furniture factory. The furniture factory was much larger than the garment factory and the cannery, covering more than thirty acres. After all, transporting the materials required large trucks; smaller trucks wouldn't be able to maneuver properly. In the end, she spent 800,000 to buy the factory buildings, land, and machinery. As usual, Xia Liang had the construction team come to inspect and repair the facilities, and then asked the management to convene a meeting with the former employees to see if any wanted to continue working at the factory. The result was the same as with the garment factory: everyone stayed. After all, jobs were hard to find these days, especially seeing so many laid-off workers, which added to their stress.

The garment factory was ready to start operations, and Xia Liang had some firecrackers bought and set off. She had initially thought of just setting off any firecrackers, but Ji Xiao insisted on a ceremony and suggested a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Xia Liang couldn't think of anyone to ask, but Ji Xiao suggested, "Sister-in-law, your uncle would be perfect! He's the Minister of Foreign Affairs now; most people can't even get a meeting with him. Besides, with Uncle Han helping with the ribbon-cutting, those jealous people won't dare to cause trouble." Xia Liang had initially thought it unnecessary, but Ji Xiao's suggestion made sense. Actually, the Ji family wasn't an ordinary family, but they were used to being low-key and didn't like their younger generation involved in business. That's why Ji Xiao suggested Han Yucheng; otherwise, any elder from their family would be a prominent figure in the capital.

Xia Liang took her two daughters to Han Yucheng's house, but unfortunately, Han Yucheng wasn't home. He was away on a business trip and wouldn't be back for a month or so. His wife, Wang Shuofei, who was also Gu Yanxiao's aunt, was home. The aunt warmly invited the three of them in. Han Yucheng's family lived in a company-allocated apartment, about 200 square meters. Compared to Xia Liang's courtyard house, it was quite cramped, but for many workers at that time, it was a luxury home. After all, it was common for four generations of a family to live in a small room of only a few dozen square meters.

The mother and her two granddaughters sat down on the sofa, and the two little ones greeted them politely, "Hello, Auntie." Wang Shuofei looked at her aunt's two granddaughters with envy, and happily agreed. She then took out the chocolates her husband had brought back and gave them to the children. The two little ones accepted the chocolates politely and said, "Thank you, Auntie." Wang Shuofei couldn't stop smiling, "You're welcome, eat up, Auntie has more." Seeing her two granddaughters reminded her of her good-for-nothing son, who was almost thirty and still couldn't find a wife. She wondered when she would be able to hold her grandchildren. The more she envied her two granddaughters, the heavier her resentment towards her son became.

Xia Liang had dinner with the children at the Han family's house. While watching TV, Wang Shuofei finally spoke up: "A Liang, is there something you need to see your uncle about?" Actually, she could tell that Xia Liang had come to see her husband because she had something to say, but seeing that Xia Liang wasn't in a hurry, she knew it wasn't anything important. If she had asked earlier, Xia Liang would have explained and then taken the two children home immediately. Now, her two granddaughters would be suffering from leg massages. Her husband was often away on business trips, and her son was in the army and hadn't come home yet. It was just her and Aunt Liu at home. Maybe it was because she was getting old, but she didn't feel it when she was at work. However, when she came home from get off work, she felt cold and lonely.

Hearing her aunt ask directly, Xia Liang didn't mince words and said, "It's like this, Aunt, I recently took over a failing garment factory and was thinking of asking you, Uncle, to help me with the ribbon-cutting ceremony, so I came to see if you have time." Wang Shuofei wasn't surprised to hear that Xia Liang had taken over a factory; she assumed it was help from her aunt's family, so she didn't ask any further questions and just asked, "When is the ribbon-cutting ceremony?" Xia Liang honestly replied, "The day after tomorrow." Wang Shuofei pointed to herself and said, "Then how about I help you with the ribbon-cutting ceremony?" Xia Liang instantly remembered that her aunt was quite a figure; she was the head of the finance department. With such a benefactor right in front of her, why would Xia Liang go to such lengths? So she pretended to be ingratiating and said, "Aunt, then I'll trouble you." "Oh, you silly child, we're all family, why bother! If you really find it troublesome, just bring your two daughters over for meals more often." Xia Liang quickly nodded.

Seeing her two daughters helping to massage her legs and rub her shoulders when her great-aunt complained of sore legs, Xia Liang couldn't help but laugh. This was how Gu Yanxiao used to boss her daughters around when he was at home.

On the day the garment factory opened, Xia Liang asked Ji Xiao to go to her aunt's house early in the morning, since Ji Xiao was the only one with a car. At the factory gate, Xia Liang gave an inspiring speech and explained the factory's rules and regulations. Then she invited her aunt to cut the ribbon. At first, the workers only thought this woman had an extraordinary presence, but after learning she was the head of the finance department, they were filled with admiration. They also began to think highly of this young factory manager; after all, being able to invite the head of finance meant her background was quite impressive. But then again, it made sense; most people wouldn't have the ability to run a factory.
