Chapter 208 Farmhouse Fun 2

In the countryside at night, the chirping of insects rose and fell, creating a natural symphony. In this peaceful and serene atmosphere, Gu Yunxi and Qian Ziyi gradually felt sleepiness creeping in.

Gu Yunxi yawned, stretched, and said softly to Qian Ziyi, "I had a really great day. We talked a lot." Her voice gradually lowered, and her eyelids began to feel heavy.

Qian Ziyi smiled slightly and replied, "Yes, I'm very happy too. Let's come together again next time." Her voice also carried a hint of sleepiness, but her eyes sparkled with anticipation for their future reunion.

As night deepened, their conversation gradually subsided, until only their even breathing remained. Gu Yunxi turned over, finding a comfortable position, and closed her eyes. Qian Ziyi also adjusted her pillow and lay quietly on the kang (heated brick bed).

Outside the window, moonlight spilled onto the windowsill, draping everything inside in a silvery glow. The chirping of insects, accompanied by a gentle breeze, softly swayed the curtains, creating a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. In this serene environment, Gu Yunxi and Qian Ziyi gradually drifted off to sleep.

The two slept in each other's arms on the earthen bed, their faces adorned with contented and peaceful smiles. Their dreams might have contained the laughter of the day, or they might have held hopes for the future, but in any case, it was a beautiful night, a warm moment between friends.

The next morning, the first rays of sunlight streamed gently into the room through the gaps in the curtains, ushering in a new day. Gu Yunxi, Qian Ziyi, and Lu Jingang woke up almost simultaneously, drawn by the birdsong and fresh air outside the window, and began their day full of energy.

The three sat around a table in the farmhouse restaurant. On the table were several plates of golden cornbread and a large bowl of fragrant pumpkin and millet porridge. Gu Yunxi held a cornbread in her hand, blew on it gently, and then handed it to Qian Ziyi, smiling as she said, "Try this. It was freshly made this morning and it's especially fragrant."

Qian Ziyi took the cornbread, took a bite, and a look of surprise appeared on her face. "Mmm, it's really delicious, fragrant and crispy!" She nodded as she chewed, clearly very satisfied with the breakfast.

Lu Jingang ladled out a bowl of pumpkin and millet porridge, stirring it gently to let the sweetness of the pumpkin and the aroma of the millet blend perfectly. He took a sip, and the warm porridge flowed down his throat, bringing him warmth and satisfaction. "This porridge is really well made; the sweetness of the pumpkin is just right."

The three chatted as they ate, reminiscing about yesterday's fun and their plans for today. Gu Yunxi suggested, "After breakfast, we can go for a walk on the mountain behind the house, breathe some fresh air, and pick some fruit."

Qian Ziyi and Lu Jingang both agreed, enjoying the simple yet delicious breakfast and the tranquility and comfort of the farm stay.

After breakfast, Gu Yunxi, Qian Ziyi, and Lu Jingang, in light and cheerful spirits, set off on the path leading to the back mountain. Sunlight filtered through the treetops, casting dappled shadows on the winding path. The air was filled with the fresh scent of earth and plants, making them feel relaxed and refreshed.

Xia Liang had fruit trees specially planted, forming a small orchard on the back hill. These fruit trees thrived in the northern climate and were very well cared for. The orchard had a variety of fruit trees, including apple, pear, and peach trees, all of which were adapted to the northern climate.

The three entered the orchard, where a vibrant scene unfolded before them. The fruit trees were laden with heavy fruit, glistening enticingly in the sunlight. Gu Yunxi pointed to an apple tree laden with fruit and said excitedly, "Look, the apples on this tree are especially sweet. Let's pick some and try them!"

Qian Ziyi and Lu Jingang followed Gu Yunxi to the tree. They looked up at the bright red apples, their faces beaming with anticipation. Gu Yunxi nimbly climbed the tree, picked a few apples, and handed them to Qian Ziyi and Lu Jingang below. They took the apples, wiped them with their hands, and took big bites, the sweet juice filling their mouths.

Lu Jingang chewed on an apple and exclaimed, "These apples are so sweet! Aunt Xia Liang really puts her heart into managing the orchard so well." His gaze wandered through the orchard, admiring every tree and every leaf.

Qian Ziyi nodded in agreement. She looked around at the neatly pruned fruit trees and said, "You can tell at a glance that these fruit trees are professionally managed. Every single one of them is growing so well."

The three strolled through the orchard, stopping occasionally to admire the scenery or taste the fruit from the trees. In this vibrant orchard, they felt the beauty of nature and the gentle warmth of summer upon this land.

In the orchard, Gu Yunxi, Qian Ziyi, and Lu Jingang thoroughly enjoyed the fun of picking fruit. They not only tasted the fresh fruit but also picked some from the trees themselves to take back and share with their family or friends.

Gu Yunxi stood under an apple tree, holding a plump apple in her hand. With a gentle twist, the apple detached from the branch. She turned around and handed it to Qian Ziyi, smiling as she said, "Ziyi, this is for you, it's especially sweet." Qian Ziyi took the apple, smiled gratefully, took a bite, and couldn't help but nod repeatedly at the sweet juice.

Lu Jingang, meanwhile, was selecting ripe pears. He carefully examined each fruit before gently picking it. His movements were gentle and meticulous, as if he were handling a precious work of art. After choosing a few pears, he turned to Gu Yunxi and Qian Ziyi and said, "These pears look very good. Let's take some back."

As time went by, the three of them each selected some of their favorite fruits, filling several baskets. The baskets were filled with apples, pears, peaches, and other colorful fruits, emitting an enticing aroma. Gu Yunxi found some clean leaves and gently laid them at the bottom of the baskets, then neatly arranged the fruits one by one to ensure they wouldn't be damaged on the way down the mountain.

As they descended the mountain, the three took turns carrying the baskets, their steps light and brisk. They chatted as they walked, sharing the amusing stories from their time in the orchard. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on them, and a gentle breeze carried the scent of fruit, lifting their spirits.

Back at the farmhouse, Gu Yunxi proudly showed the fruits in her basket to the other tourists and staff. Qian Ziyi and Lu Jingang helped by introducing the deliciousness of the fruits to everyone.
