Chapter 217 was rejected.

As their conversation ended, both felt much lighter. They realized that although the future was uncertain, nothing was impossible as long as they loved each other. He Siyan and Gu Yunxi decided to put the heavy topics aside for the time being and enjoy their time together.

He Siyan checked the time and suggested, "Yunxi, let's go see a movie and relax."

Gu Yunxi smiled and nodded: "Good idea. I heard there's a really good new movie that's been released recently."

The two left the café and walked together towards the nearby cinema. Night had fallen, and the neon lights on both sides of the street flickered with colorful lights, adding a touch of romance to the city's night.

Upon arriving at the cinema, they chose a currently showing romantic movie. At the ticket counter, He Siyan bought the tickets, while Gu Yunxi went to the nearby convenience store to buy popcorn and drinks.

Upon entering the theater, they found comfortable seats. As the lights dimmed, the movie began. The two were engrossed in the plot, sometimes chuckling at the humorous moments, sometimes moved by the touching scenes.

After the movie ended, they walked and discussed the plot and characters, sharing their feelings and opinions. This shared experience brought them closer and added more fun to their evening.

Gu Yunxi said with emotion, "This movie is really good, thank you for recommending it."

He Siyan smiled and replied, "It's always a pleasure to watch a movie with you."

The two strolled along the street, enjoying the tranquility of the night and each other's company. That night, they didn't dwell on those complicated issues; they simply savored their time together.

Night had fallen, and the streetlights shone brightly. He Siyan glanced at his watch and realized it was getting late. He turned to Gu Yunxi and said with concern, "Yunxi, it's very late. Let me take you home."

Gu Yunxi nodded, feeling a warmth in her heart: "Okay."

They strolled through the streets at night, enjoying the tranquility and each other's company. He Siyan's steps were steady and slow, ensuring Gu Yunxi could keep up comfortably. They occasionally chatted, sharing their thoughts on the movie they had just watched, and sometimes fell silent, savoring the peace.

When He Siyan escorted Gu Yunxi back to her doorstep, Gu Yunxi's father, Gu Yanxiao, happened to come out of the house to fetch something from the yard. He stopped when he saw He Siyan and Gu Yunxi standing together, a hint of surprise on his face.

Gu Yanxiao was a serious and meticulous father, and his care for his daughter was evident in every little detail of daily life. He scrutinized He Siyan, trying to judge whether he was trustworthy from his demeanor and expression.

He Siyan noticed Gu Yanxiao's gaze, and he politely stepped forward, smiling as he greeted him: "Hello, Uncle, I am He Siyan, a friend of Gu Yunxi."

Gu Yunxi quickly introduced, "Dad, this is Si Yan. We just watched a movie together."

Gu Yanxiao nodded and replied, "Oh, I see. Si Yan, hello, I am Gu Yunxi's father, Gu Yanxiao."

Gu Yunxi responded and then turned to He Siyan: "Siyan, I'm going in now. We'll contact each other later."

He Siyan smiled and nodded: "Okay, Yunxi, good night, Uncle, good night."

Gu Yanxiao nodded in acknowledgment but did not speak.

Gu Yanxiao stood at the door, watching He Siyan leave, his heart filled with mixed emotions. As a father, he naturally hoped his daughter would find a good home, but at the same time, he couldn't help but feel a sense of "his own daughter being taken by a pig." This feeling is common among many fathers as their daughters grow up and begin to date.

He turned and went back inside, and saw Gu Yunxi about to go upstairs, so he called out to her, "Yunxi, wait a moment."

Gu Yunxi stopped and turned around to ask, "Dad, what's wrong?"

Gu Yanxiao walked to his daughter's side and asked in as calm a tone as possible, "When did you two start dating He Siyan? What kind of person is he?"

Gu Yunxi knew that her father was concerned about her, so she patiently replied, "We've been dating for a while now. Si Yan is a very good person and he's very good to me too."

Gu Yanxiao nodded, but was still somewhat uneasy: "Do you know his family background and character? Does he have a stable job and income?"

Gu Yunxi smiled and replied, "Dad, I understand all of that. Si Yan is a soldier with a stable job and income, and his family background is also very good."

Hearing his daughter say this, Gu Yanxiao's worries eased slightly, but he still reminded her, "Yunxi, Dad is worried about you. You are still young, so you must carefully consider matters of the heart."

Gu Yunxi nodded understandingly: "I know, Dad. I will be careful."

Gu Yanxiao patted his daughter on the shoulder and said earnestly, "Okay, Dad believes in you. It's your decision."

Although Gu Yanxiao maintained his composure in front of his daughter, his heart was in turmoil. He returned to his bedroom, his emotions complex and difficult to calm. Xia Liang noticed his change in mood and asked with concern, "Yanxiao, what's wrong? You seem to be in a bad mood."

Gu Yanxiao sighed, sat on the edge of the bed, and said helplessly, "Wife, today I saw Yunxi with her boyfriend He Siyan, and I suddenly had a feeling that our little cabbage is going to be eaten by a pig."

Xia Liang smiled slightly upon hearing this. Understanding her husband's feelings, she comforted him, "Yanxiao, the children have grown up and have their own lives and choices. As parents, we should give them trust and support."

Gu Yanxiao nodded, but still looked worried: "I know, but as a father, I'm always worried that my daughter will get hurt. He Siyan seems like a good kid, but who can say for sure about matters of the heart?"

Xia Liang walked to Gu Yanxiao's side and gently patted his back: "We can't restrict Yunxi's choices just because we're worried. She's a smart and sensible child, and I believe she can handle her feelings well."

Gu Yanxiao pondered for a moment, then slowly said, "You're right. We can't interfere in her life just because of our own concerns. We can only offer her advice and help when she needs it."

Xia Liang sat down next to Gu Yanxiao and took his hand: "Yanxiao, our daughter has grown up. She needs to experience life and face challenges on her own. As parents, the most important thing for us is to give her unconditional love and support."

Gu Yanxiao felt Xia Liang's warmth and understanding, and his worries gradually lessened. He knew that as parents, their responsibility was to guide and support, not to interfere excessively.
