Chapter 426 Ward 2

Gu Yuanzhi sat in the hospital room, holding her phone, hesitating whether to make the call. She knew her parents and her sister's in-laws were on a trip together, enjoying a time of family bliss, and she didn't want to spoil their fun with a phone call. But at the same time, she also understood that if she didn't tell them about Pei Yunduo's injury, her mother would definitely scold her for not informing them sooner when they returned.

Pei Yanchuan noticed his wife's hesitation. He walked over, gently patted her shoulder, and said, "Yuanzhi, let's tell Mom and Dad. They have the right to know about Yunduo's situation, and I believe they will understand."

Gu Yuanzhi sighed and nodded; she knew her husband was right. She took a deep breath and dialed her mother's number.

The voice of her mother, Xia Liang, came quickly from the other end of the phone: "Yuanzhi, what's wrong? Why are you calling at this hour?" Gu Yuanzhi tried to keep her voice calm: "Mom, I have something to tell you. Yunduo... she had an accident tonight and got hurt. She's in the hospital now." There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, then Xia Liang's concerned voice came through: "How is Yunduo? Is she badly hurt? Which hospital is she in? We're coming right away."

Gu Yuanzhi quickly comforted her mother, "Mom, don't worry. The doctor said Yunduo's injury isn't serious; she just sprained her ankle and needs to rest for a while. Her condition is stable now. You and Dad have fun outside; there's no need to rush back." Xia Liang's voice carried a hint of reproach, "Silly child, how could you not tell us about something like this? We are your parents, and Yunduo is our granddaughter. How could we not worry?"

Gu Yuanzhi's voice trembled slightly: "Mom, I know. I just didn't want to disturb your trip. It's a rare opportunity for you to relax." Xia Liang sighed, her tone softening: "Yuanzhi, we are your parents, we will always be by your side. We'll be back soon, don't worry. Take good care of Yunduo, we'll be there soon."

After hanging up the phone, Gu Yuanzhi felt conflicted. She knew her parents would worry, but she also felt a sense of comfort, because no matter what happened, her family was always her strongest support. Pei Yanchuan put his arm around her shoulder, offering her support: "It's okay, Yuanzhi. Mom and Dad will understand. We'll face this together as a family."

Pei Yunduo lay in bed, listening to her parents' conversation, her heart filled with gratitude. She knew that although she was injured, she was not alone. Her family, whether her parents who were nearby or her grandparents who were traveling far away, all cared deeply for her. She decided that once she recovered, she would cherish and be even more grateful for the warmth of her family.

Pei Yunduo held the warm chicken soup in her hands, feeling the love and care passed down from her grandmother. She gently blew on the steam rising from the soup, taking small sips to savor it. The aroma of the chicken soup and the taste of home made her feel warm and at ease.

Seeing the worried looks in her grandparents' and parents' eyes, Pei Yunduo felt a surge of warmth in her heart. She knew that her family's worry stemmed from their love for her, but she didn't want them to worry too much. She tried her best to speak in the most relaxed tone, "Grandpa, Grandma, Mom, Dad, don't worry, I just twisted my ankle, it doesn't hurt." Her voice was soft, yet it carried a firmness and reassurance.

Gu Yuanzhi sat on the edge of the bed, gently stroking her daughter's head, her eyes filled with love: "Yunduo, you are always so sensible, but how can we not worry? You are our most precious daughter."

Pei Yanchuan nodded, a hint of relief on his face, but he couldn't hide the worry in his eyes: "Yes, Yun Duo, your safety is more important to us than anything else. You need to rest well and get better as soon as possible."

Lin Man and her husband sat around Pei Yunduo's bedside. Xia Liang's eyes glistened with tears: "Yunduo, you've suffered so much. Grandma is here. If you feel unwell anywhere, you must tell Grandma."

Pei Yunduo felt the care and love of her family, and her heart was filled with gratitude. She knew that no matter what difficulties she encountered, her family would be by her side, giving her strength. She smiled, her eyes shining with determination: "Grandpa and Grandma, Mom and Dad, I'm really okay. Look at me, I can still smile. I'll get better soon, don't worry."

Seeing Pei Yunduo's smile, her family's worries gradually lessened. They knew Pei Yunduo was a strong child, and her optimism and resilience made them proud. They decided that no matter what, they would stay by Pei Yunduo's side and get through this difficult time together. The atmosphere in the ward gradually became more relaxed, with the laughter of her family and Pei Yunduo's soft voices blending together to create a heartwarming scene. On this cold winter night, Pei Yunduo's heart was filled with warmth; she knew that with the love of her family, she was afraid of nothing.

Xia Liang was filled with worry for Pei Yunduo. Upon learning of her granddaughter's injury, she didn't hesitate for a moment and immediately decided to cut short her trip with Gu Yanxiao—Pei Yunduo's maternal grandfather—and fly back. Although she and Gu Yanxiao had enjoyed a pleasant trip with other in-laws, everything else seemed less important in the face of her family and granddaughter's safety.

On the plane, Xia Liang felt conflicted. She was worried about Pei Yunduo's injuries, but also felt a pang of guilt because she hadn't been there when Pei Yunduo was hurt. Gu Yanxiao sat next to her and sensed Xia Liang's anxiety. He gently took her hand, trying to offer her some comfort.

"Don't worry too much, Xia Liang," Gu Yanxiao said softly. "Yun Duo is a strong child, she'll be alright."

Xia Liang nodded, but her brows remained furrowed. She knew Gu Yanxiao was right, but as a grandmother, her worry for her granddaughter was instinctive. She replied softly, "I know, Yanxiao, but I can't help worrying. I hope we can get to the hospital soon and see her." Gu Yanxiao understood Xia Liang's feelings. He didn't say anything more, but simply held her hand tightly, offering her strength. Both of them had only one thought in their minds: to return to Pei Yunduo's side as quickly as possible and give her support and love.

The plane finally landed, and Xia Liang and Gu Yanxiao rushed to the hospital. Their footsteps echoed in the hospital corridor, each step so hurried. When they entered Pei Yunduo's ward and saw their granddaughter lying safely in bed, Xia Liang felt a complex mix of emotions—a sense of relief mixed with deep affection for Pei Yunduo.

When Pei Yunduo saw her grandparents arrive at the hospital room, looking travel-worn, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes, quickly replaced by gratitude. She whispered, "Grandma, Grandpa, why are you back? I'm alright." Xia Liang quickly walked to the bedside and hugged Pei Yunduo tightly, her voice choked with emotion, "Yunduo, my darling, you were injured, how could Grandma not come back? Seeing you're alright, Grandma is relieved."

Pei Yunduo felt her grandparents' care, and her heart was filled with gratitude. She knew that no matter what happened, her family would always be her strongest support. She smiled, her eyes shining with strength: "Grandma, Grandpa, thank you. I'll get better soon, don't worry."
