Chapter 33 Pei Jingzhou

The wind swayed the green bamboo, the ground was covered with ferns, the green rocks lay along the road, and birds chirped. It was a quiet and elegant scene, but at this moment, it made Shen Mingzhuang feel a chill down his spine.

"I was unaware that someone was playing the zither here. I hope you will forgive me for any disturbance."

Shen Mingzhuang called out to the double-eaved pavilion in a voice that was neither too loud nor too soft, and then he and Man Huan were about to leave.

The garden was crowded today, and all the Pei family's servants had been summoned to the front to stand guard. Now that there was no one around, someone was playing the zither in this quiet and secluded place. It didn't seem like a good thing at all, so it was best not to disturb them.

Man Huan followed her young mistress quietly, but before she had taken two steps, a deep, resonant male voice came from inside the pavilion: "Since you are tired, young lady, and this pavilion does not belong to me, please make yourself at home."

After Pei Jingzhou finished speaking, his hand remained on the strings. Upon hearing this, Shen Mingzhuang breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, he wasn't petty or vindictive. However, since the other party had already spoken so frankly, it would be impolite for him to flee in a hurry.

She glanced at Man Huan, then turned and went into the pavilion.

It wouldn't hurt to sit for a while before leaving; it would be a good opportunity to listen to the music of the ancients.

A short while later, a young servant in blue robes came down from upstairs. He had a square scarf wrapped around his head and looked very refined. He kept his head down and inadvertently glanced at Shen Mingzhuang. He was immediately shocked. This girl looked so familiar, as if he had seen her somewhere before.

“Miss, my young master would like to invite you upstairs for a cup of tea.”

Upon hearing this, Manhuan immediately stood guard in front of her young mistress, looking at the servant with a wary expression.

Ming Zhuang couldn't help but chuckle, waved his hand to signal for silence, and then nodded slightly to the servant.

Seeing this, the servant turned around and went up to the pavilion.

Seeing Manhuan's worried expression, she smiled and patted her arm, lowering her voice to say, "Don't worry."

Man Huan sighed. Her young mistress seemed to possess some kind of magic; just a few words from her could put her at ease.

The pavilion, with its double eaves, is open on all six sides, and crystal tassels hang from the eaves. When the wind blows, the beaded curtains sway, creating a unique scene.

'The eldest son of the Pei family is handsome and tall, with the looks of Pan An.' At this moment, Shen Mingzhuang finally had a concrete understanding of what was said in the book.

When Shen Mingzhuang was stopped downstairs, he guessed that the only person who could play the zither in this double-eaved pavilion with such poignant music was Pei Jingzhou, the eldest young master of the Pei family, who was immersed in the pain of losing his beloved.

Upon seeing it now, I understood even more clearly.

Pei Jingzhou had his back to her, and he had stopped playing the zither. He was holding a small red clay stove and brewing hot tea.

He actually made tea for her himself?

Shen Mingzhuang was somewhat dazed. Was it because the eldest young master of the Pei family was naturally polite and courteous, or because he had discovered something?

"I just overheard you talking to your maid. I wonder what trouble you've encountered?"

As they spoke, the tea was already brewed. Long, slender, bamboo-like fingers held the tea, its aroma clear and refreshing. Shen Mingzhuang couldn't help but take a deep breath, but Pei Jingzhou suddenly lost his focus the moment he looked up.

BOOM!

The purple clay teacup shattered upon hitting the ground, startling everyone in and around the pavilion.

Although she knew that her appearance would expose her identity to Pei Jingzhou, she still wanted Pei Jingzhou to know who she was. Pei Jingzhou's reaction was expected, but the sound of the teacup hitting the ground still made Shen Mingzhuang's heart tighten.
