Shen Mingzhuang had been putting up with her for a long time, avoiding her, but she was getting more and more aggressive. If he continued to give in, she wouldn't thank him. He might as well break off all ties and never have any contact with her again.
"I don't know if I'm insane or not, but if you keep causing trouble behind my back, I'll drive you insane." Shen Mingzhuang finished speaking slowly and calmly, then added, "Wasn't it your third sister who instigated the 'Hundred Sons and Thousand Grandsons' painting?"
Shen Mingxi's face paled. How could she have known?!
"Don't try to be clever like that again. I haven't provoked you, so you'd better keep a low profile."
Shen Mingxi couldn't hide her shock. Her mouth dropped open, and her eyes flickered. "So your obedient and docile nature is all an act. You're not like this at home."
Shen Mingzhuang did not answer her question. "Is there anything else? If not, I have to go back to my post."
With no further movement behind him, Shen Mingzhuang did not hesitate any longer and left the mountain house.
Seeing that she returned so quickly, Jiang Wang paused in reviewing the memorials. Shen Mingzhuang's expression was not good, but Jiang Wang did not say much. "The newly presented grapes are very sweet and juicy."
Shen Mingzhuang looked at the clean grapes beside him, hummed in agreement, and sat down cross-legged somewhat dejectedly. He casually tossed a grape into his mouth; it was indeed very sweet.
Jiang Wang seemed to enjoy seeing her act unruly in front of him. When he saw her playfully pop two grapes into her mouth, he couldn't help but curl up the corners of his mouth before lowering his head to review the memorials again.
Shen Mingzhuang's feelings were somewhat complicated.
She had brought Wenxin to the palace some time ago, and no one had brought up the matter of whether it was in accordance with the rules. It was clear that Jiang Wang had taken care of everything for her, and Wenxin could settle down in the palace.
In that case, arrangements for her departure should be made.
She had been by Jiang Wang's side for the past few days and hadn't seen Man Huan for several days. At this moment, there was still ink in Jiang Wang's inkstone. Shen Mingzhuang opened her mouth, organized her thoughts, and said, "Your Majesty, may I go to the side room?"
A hint of suspicion flashed across Jiang Wang's face, but he did not refuse her request. "Hmm."
Shen Mingzhuang chuckled twice and tiptoed out of the study. Tan Yonglin frowned slightly. His Majesty was currently reviewing memorials. How could a female official in charge of ink leave her post? But considering the special treatment His Majesty gave her, Tan Yonglin could only silently complain in her heart. She sighed and stepped forward to take his place.
Manhuan hadn't spoken to her young mistress for quite some time, and seeing her young mistress standing lively and energetic in front of her, the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up.
"Miss, you're finally back! I haven't had a full night's sleep these past few days." She pouted a little, looking a bit aggrieved. Shen Mingzhuang couldn't help but smile when she saw this; she knew the little girl was worried about her.
She magically produced a small bunch of grapes. "Ta-da! Here, take this. They're really sweet."
Manhuan chuckled. She wasn't a child, yet the young lady was treating her like one. But her heart felt warm, like drinking a bowl of warm soup on a cold winter's day, warming her from the inside out.
Noticing a gaze directed at them, Shen Mingzhuang turned his head and saw Wen Xin standing a few steps away, her hands slightly clasped together, looking at the two of them with great envy in her eyes.
Shen Mingzhuang came over because he had something to ask Wenxin. He didn't try to hide it from her and picked a black, crystal-like grape from Manhuan's hand and placed it in Wenxin's hand. "This is for you."
Wenxin hadn't expected her to react this way, and smiled, "Thank you, Miss."
She ate a grape, then nodded at Shen Mingzhuang with a smile, saying, "It's delicious."
