He lost Chuuya.

He lost Chuuya.

This is why Yumeno saw a Dazai suddenly appear next to her bed when she woke up the next day.

Yumeno, her face deathly pale, clutched the doll and stared at Dazai, who wore his usual smile.

"Are you here to arrest me?"

"No, no, no, I'm here to ask about Chuuya's whereabouts. You can still stay here and live your ordinary life. After all, that's what Chuuya wants."

The Grand Tutor feigned a troubled expression.

"I don't know. Chuuya-nii dropped me off here that day and then left. He didn't stay here."

Yumeno relaxed slightly and spoke truthfully, while Dazai's smile gradually disappeared.

"During the days you were with Chuuya, did Chuuya... show any unusual reactions?"

Dazai felt his voice was hoarse, and there was a barely perceptible panic in it.

"So it really was you, Dazai! It's all your fault, you bastard! You made Chuuya so sad!"

Dazai stared blankly at Yumeno, who had suddenly sprung up. Without Yumeno saying anything, Dazai's reaction revealed the answer he wanted to know.

Dazai didn't refute anything, silently listened to Yumeno's accusations, turned and left, and was scolded by the brat, all because of Chuuya.

"Oh! You're that older brother from last time, are you here to see Kyusaku?"

Dazai encountered Conan while walking on the street. The impression Dazai left on Conan last time was still very deep. When Dazai heard the voice, he looked down and saw the wariness and probing in Conan's big eyes, which he could see at a glance.

Dazai gave a dangerous smile. Anyone familiar with Dazai would know that someone was about to be in trouble, but little Conan was unaware of the danger. Dazai slowly crouched down.

"You're not a little kid, are you? I noticed it last time; you're incredibly smart for a child."

"Big brother, what are you saying? I don't understand!"

Conan was already on high alert, but Dazai, who was clearly in a bad mood, wasn't going to let him off so easily.

"The bow tie is for puberty, the watch on her wrist should be able to fire needles with drugs, and the shoes on her feet are also modified. Do you want me to continue?"

What do you want to do?

Conan took a step back and looked at Dazai warily, his back covered in cold sweat. Dazai stood up listlessly, his face expressionless.

"I have no interest in your secrets whatsoever. Didn't Yumeno tell you to stay away from me? Being so reckless will get you into big trouble. Oh, I forgot you've already messed with the famous high school detective, Shinichi Kudo."

After saying this, Dazai left without paying attention to Conan's reaction.

Everything was utterly boring. Normally, he might have been a bit more mischievous, saying things that created misunderstandings and kept the detective on edge. But right now, Dazai couldn't muster any interest; it was all incredibly dull. A melancholy aura emanated from him.

All he wanted to do now was find Chuuya. But what would happen after he found Chuuya? Dazai dared not think about it anymore; at least for now, he could escape for a while.

Dazai returned to Yokohama, and this time he went to Chuuya's villa.

He actually knew where Chuuya kept the spare key; Chuuya's little habit hadn't changed over the years. But Dazai was a little hesitant to open the door and go in.

He hoped Chuuya was home, yet he was also afraid of him. Dazai chuckled to himself, opened the door, and as expected, no one was there. He couldn't tell whether he felt relieved or somewhat disappointed.

Dazai's gaze suddenly fixed on the hat that Chuuya always wore. He knew it was a power balancer. Dazai picked it up, his eyes dark and unreadable.

"Chuuya..."

How many secrets do you still have?

Dazai found a computer and started searching through surveillance footage, looking for footage from all the countries where Chuuya might appear. Dazai kept staring at the surveillance footage, searching for Chuuya's figure.

I thought Dazai had recovered by then, but I didn't expect him to be in such a bad state after he came back from his leave. His eyes were bloodshot and his dark circles were even worse, but he was still staring at the computer screen.

It wasn't until someone curiously took a look that they discovered it was a surveillance camera. Dazai had put several surveillance feeds together in a dense, close-up view, and Nakajima Atsushi felt dizzy after just one glance.

However, everyone tacitly agreed not to bother Dazai, and another week passed. Every time they saw Dazai, they could see that the bloodshot eyes had increased and the dark circles under his eyes had become more pronounced. Kunikida was even afraid that Dazai would suddenly die at his workstation.

Although Dazai was busy with other things, he completed all the tasks assigned to him excellently. Kunikida couldn't do anything about it and could only hope that Dazai would find what he wanted soon.

Atsushi Nakajima: "How long will Dazai-san continue like this? I haven't seen Dazai-san eat in so long. Last time I brought him his favorite crab rice, he waited for a long time before he remembered to eat it."

Kunikida clenched his fists. "That guy! He can finish all that work in such a short time, you know? For two whole years, I've known him for two whole years, and I didn't even know about this. He's always skipping work!"

Atsushi Nakajima: "Uh..."

The Grand Tutor stood up, and the others immediately fell silent, turning their gazes to follow him.

Dazai lay on the sofa, closing his already dry eyes. Over the past few days, he had reviewed surveillance footage from all the countries where Chuuya might appear, but there was nothing. There was no trace of Chuuya anywhere, no travel records. He had also checked the radar recently, as if Chuuya had simply vanished from the face of the earth.

He couldn't find Chuuya anymore. After eliminating all other answers, the one that remained, no matter how impossible, was the truth: the reality was that Chuuya was no longer in this world. Where did Chuuya go? Would Chuuya come back? Chuuya abandoned him. Chuuya didn't even need a hat anymore. Was No Longer Human still the only switch to cleanse the world?

Dazai felt a great sense of panic; it seemed he had lost Chuuya.

"Are you really not planning to stay a few more days, Mr. Hat?"

Gray said with some regret, while Blue Zhong glanced at him from the side.

"I told you not to call me Mr. Hat! I'm the one who wasn't wearing a hat."

Chuuya protested loudly, not understanding why Haizai was so insistent on calling him Mr. Hat.

"No way~ It's because you two are both Chuuya, and since you're not wearing hats, I should call you Mr. Hat, so that other people won't know who I'm calling."

Haizai said matter-of-factly, and Chuuya couldn't argue with his twisted logic, so he turned to look at Lan Chuuya.

"Thank you for taking care of me these past few days."

A smile appeared in the blue light.

"Be careful on the road."

"Come visit again sometime! I'd love to welcome heartbroken Mr. Hats to my place to clear his head."

Before Lan Zhong could even make a move, his fist was already upon him in the next second.

"Don't worry about him. I believe you will succeed this time. Remember what I told you."

"I'll give it a try if I get the chance."

"Chuuya! When did you guys reach some kind of agreement behind my back, that we can't let that guy have it so easily! I won't accept it!"

Chuuya pretended not to hear Haizai's wailing, even though he was the one who was rejected after confessing his feelings.
