Extra 2 Postcard
Extra 2 Postcard
Early in the morning, Yan Zhen was awakened by the sound of rain outside the window.
Heavy raindrops fell and drifted in through the window that was not closed tightly.
The room was dim. She dazedly opened her eyes. The person next to her had already stood up and sat on the edge of the bed with his back to her. He was putting on his clothes carefully, and the lines of his muscles were faintly visible under his shirt.
She looked at him for a while, then lifted her foot from the quilt and stepped on his lower back.
Chen Huaixu stopped moving, turned around to look at her, and said, "Awake?"
"Yeah." She yawned lazily, and emerged from the bed like a swimming fish. She hugged him from behind and said coquettishly, "You don't have to work today, so why are you up so early?"
He tilted his head and kissed her forehead, saying, "I'm used to it."
Yan Zhen leaned on his shoulder, put her fingers into his shirt, and touched his abdominal muscles with satisfaction, which felt very good.
Chen Huaixu said, "It's still early. Go to sleep a little longer. I'll call you later."
"I can't sleep, can you stay with me for a while?"
It was a very dull weekend, a rainy morning, a day with no plans, perfect for two people to spend time together aimlessly at home.
He turned sideways, held her in his arms, and kissed her on the lips.
After lunch, the rain continued outside. Outside the French window, the sky was gray.
The two of them snuggled together on the sofa in front of the window, listening to the rustling sound of the rain. They were silent and speechless, but they felt endless satisfaction from the silence.
Chen Huaixu held Yan Zhen with one arm, resting his other hand on his tablet on his knee, his fingertips slowly sliding through domestic and international financial news. She leaned on his shoulder, playing with her phone, sleepiness gradually coming over her. Her thick, dark eyelashes fluttered a few times, and then she said in a commanding tone, "I'm sleepy, put me to sleep."
Chen Huaixu glanced at her and asked, "Yan Zhen, how old are you?"
"Are you going to coax me?" The princess got angry again.
He said, "Close your eyes."
Yan Zhen closed her eyes contentedly, waiting for his next words.
Chen Huaixu's voice calmly entered her ears: "Financial leverage, in simple terms, is..."
Isn’t this the topic she chose when she wrote her graduation thesis?
Yan Zhen shuddered and said, "What are you reading?"
How could someone take a professional course to coax someone to sleep?! And she's already graduated!
Before she could stand up, he pressed her down, gently placed his fingers over her eyes, and continued to read: "The level of financial leverage..."
Everything was pitch black before her eyes, and only his calm voice filled her ears. Although she hated to admit it, the hypnotic effect was indeed very good. Yan Zhen closed her eyes and fell asleep in a short while.
Noticing that the breathing of the person lying next to him was gradually becoming steady, Chen Huaixu slowly released his hands that were covering her eyes, lowered his head to look at her sleeping face, stared at her for a long time, and couldn't help but curl the corners of his lips.
However, Yan Zhen didn't sleep for long and woke up soon.
Chen Huaixu still maintained his previous posture, with his arms around her, motionless.
She leaned over and kissed his chin, then kissed the corners of his lips twice. Suddenly she remembered something and asked, "Has the postcard been delivered?"
"It was delivered a long time ago and is in the study." Chen Huaixu said, "You said I couldn't read it, so I haven't read it yet."
Yan Zhen got up, walked to the study in her slippers, and ran back to the living room. She saw Chen Huaixu slowly moving his arm. It must have been numb from being pressed by her.
Even after this, he still refused to wake her up.
Yan Zhen sat down beside him and said, "Look."
She showed him the front of the postcard, which showed the beautiful Milky Way at night in western Sichuan, captured by the camera on the piece of paper.
After reading the front, she hesitated to turn the page. Instead, she asked him, "Would you like to guess what I wrote on the back?"
Chen Huaixu pondered and said, "Hmm... wish me good luck in my work?"
Judging from the perfunctory manner in which Yan Zhen gave him birthday gifts every year, he guessed that given their relationship at the time, 80% of it was just politeness.
She said nothing, but turned the postcard over. On the blank paper, the handwriting was clear and beautiful:
to: Chen Huaixu
The stars are beautiful. If you have the chance, let’s watch them together next time.
from: Yan Zhen
Chen Huaixu was slightly startled and raised his eyes to look at Yan Zhen.
She pursed her lips and said, "I'm not lying to you. This is my true feelings."
At that time, Yan Zhen held the pen, thought about the blank postcard for a long time, and finally wrote this sentence.
The encounter by the campfire, a big bag of desserts in the car, under the romantic starry sky, in the boundless wilderness, she had a very strong idea for the first time.
Perhaps it was from that moment that her state of mind changed, and she was willing to try to remove the disguise of hypocrisy and reveal herself honestly.
While choosing souvenirs at the small town market, she went around in circles, not knowing what to buy for Chen Huaixu, and finally decided to give him a starry sky.
Although it wasn't as shocking as seeing it with her own eyes, she wanted to make a promise with him.
If you have the chance, let’s go and see it together.
Just the two of us.
The living room was silent, with only the rising and falling breathing of the two people.
Yan Zhen asked him: "Do you like this gift?"
He lowered his eyes to look at the postcard, then raised his head to look at her slightly red cheeks, and spoke slowly and clearly: "Thank you, baby, I like it very much."
Her sincerity is priceless.
He was lucky enough to get it and is simply the luckiest person in the world.
Yan Zhen threw herself into his arms and said, "Don't get carried away. You have to continue to be nice to me, especially nice, understand?"
He kissed her forehead and said, "This is not a promise, this is instinct."
"It's a pity that it rained today," Chen Huaixu looked out the window, feeling a little regretful, "otherwise I'd take you to see the stars tonight."
"There are many days to come," she thought, "and I want to go see the aurora with you."
"Well," he smiled, his voice gentle, "we have a long way to go."
They still have a long time to watch the stars and do everything together in the rest of their lives.
Every day in the future will be a new and happy future for them.
