Chapter 19 Pei Zhiqin's Heart Knot

Pei Tiantian narrowed her eyes slightly.

Haha, this little girl.

"Be good, grandma will wipe it clean for you with a towel later. Don't be sad, your cousin didn't mean it."

Wang Ruizhen didn't notice anything wrong between the two children at first, nor did she take it seriously.

"Cousin, I brought you a gift. Please don't be angry with me over such a small matter!"

Li Zhaodi took out a purple bow hairband from her pocket with a smile and handed it to Pei Tiantian.

Pei Tiantian's gaze stayed on the bow hairband, on which there were still a few suspicious strands of hair remaining.

I sneered in my heart.

Li Zhaodi was too perfunctory. She looked down on the original owner's cousin so much that she even gave away things she had used.

However, Pei Tiantian looked extremely surprised. Her eyes were sparkling as she held the purple bow in her little hands, looking very rare.

"What a beautiful bow! Is it expensive, cousin?"

Pei Tiantian's inexperienced look successfully pleased Li Zhaodi. She looked at Pei Tiantian with a bit of contempt and couldn't help but blurt out: "Why is it so expensive? It's only ten yuan. I have a lot of this kind of thing at home!"

"What? This hairband costs ten dollars. Is it so expensive?"

When Wang Ruizhen heard this, her face changed and she said with a frown.

Li Zhaodi didn't notice that Wang Ruizhen's tone was wrong, and continued to talk to herself: "How can it be expensive? You can buy something more expensive--"

"Okay, Zhaodi, take Tiantian to the yard to play. I want to talk to mom."

Seeing that Li Zhaodi was becoming more and more elated and talking nonsense, Pei Zhiqin couldn't help but interrupt her with a warning look in her eyes.

Li Zhaodi then stopped talking and went out with Pei Tiantian.

As soon as she walked out of the door, Li Zhaodi revealed her true face. She glared at her with disgust: "Don't follow me! I don't want to play with you!"

The little girl stood there, the two little tufts of hair on her head trembling slightly in the breeze, her pair of pure grape eyes staring at her motionlessly, seeming a little confused and aggrieved.

"I heard from my mom that grandma loves you very much. I tell you, as long as I'm here, grandma is mine alone! Grandma will only love me the most!"

Li Zhaodi raised her chin, looked at Pei Tiantian with contempt at her rustic jacket, and said proudly, "You little bumpkin, don't even think about snatching it from me!"

Li Zhaodi was very confused. Before coming, her mother had repeatedly told her to be nice to Pei Tiantian so that she could please her grandmother.

The last time she came to Huangsha Village, she was only five years old and had no impression of Pei Tiantian.

Now it seems that Pei Tiantian is just an ordinary country girl. She looks stupid and dumb, and the clothes she wears are ugly. What is there to like about her?

Unless you are blind, you should like Li Zhaodi more.

Li Zhaodi looked at her shiny little leather shoes, and then at the pair of little cotton shoes on Pei Tiantian's feet that were obviously hand-sewn by a farmer herself.

There was even a hint of superiority in his eyes.

"Cousin, the milk doesn't belong to you alone, it belongs to all of us."

Pei Tiantian looked at her aggrievedly and retorted.

"If I say it's mine, it's mine!"

Li Zhaodi snorted coldly.

Pei Tiantian took a step forward and stretched out her little fleshy hand, just as she was about to touch her, she saw Li Zhaodi suddenly step back a few steps and glared at her fiercely: "Don't touch me! How many times a week do you, a little country bumpkin, take a bath? Let me tell you, we city people take a bath every day. You look so dirty, you must have a lot of fleas on your body, stay away from me!"

Pei Tiantian withdrew her hand and rolled her eyes at Li Zhaodi in her heart.

She had no intention of trying to please Li Zhaodi. Li Zhaodi didn't even have a role in the novel and was doing worse than her.

She's not the kind of person who likes to be treated coldly, so let her do whatever she wants.

Since Li Zhaodi doesn't like her, she should just stay away from her. She won't stay here forever anyway.

Pei Tiantian thought silently.

On the surface, she still stood there pretending to be wronged, looking like an obedient person ready to be bullied.

Li Zhaodi looked down at her with her arms folded, and finally snorted coldly, turned her head and walked to the other side of the yard, sat on the bench without even looking at her.

Faint sounds continued to come out from the house. Pei Tiantian had an idea and she slowly moved her feet towards the door, her eyes always fixed on Li Zhaodi on the bench. Seeing that she never turned around, she boldly pressed her whole body against the door and attentively eavesdropped on the conversation between Pei Zhiqin and Wang Ruizhen inside the door.

Wang Ruizhen was lecturing Pei Zhiqin: "A hairband is so expensive, Zhiqin, didn't you just pay off your debt? You should spend the money sparingly. Besides, Zhaodi is still a child. Giving her such expensive things will easily make her develop a competitive mentality."

Pei Zhiqin listened silently without saying anything, and his heart was already filled with impatience.

She had no debt at all, and all this was used to deceive other people in the Pei family.

She is living a good life in the city now. Every time their factory sells a bag, it makes a profit of thousands of yuan.

This is something that a rural person like Wang Ruizhen, who has been honest and hardworking all his life, would never dare to imagine.

A ten-dollar hairband is not considered a valuable item in their eyes.

The Pei family in the village only knew that Li Jianguo's factory was profitable, but they definitely didn't know that Li Jianguo and Pei Zhiqin's current income had reached over a million.

Of course Pei Zhiqin didn't intend to tell them.

What a joke! If the Pei family members in the village find out and run to the city to seek refuge with her, she would be exhausted to death.

So she just listened obediently, nodded and said, "Mom, I understand."

Wang Ruizhen could tell that Pei Zhiqin's answer was perfunctory.

Pei Zhiqin smiled and said, "Mom, don't say these unhappy things. I have good news to tell you. I'm pregnant."

Wang Ruizhen was stunned for a moment and then laughed, "Really?"

"I came back this time to find someone called Ran Xiangu. I heard that the pills she sells can guarantee that pregnant women will give birth to sons!"

A gleam of light flashed in Pei Zhiqin's eyes.

"What is Ran Xiangu? Why haven't I heard of him?"

Wang Ruizhen said suspiciously.

"It's normal that you haven't heard of her. The fairy lady is from the north and only came to our area recently."

"Isn't this feudal superstition? I don't believe in it."

Wang Ruizhen waved her hands. "It's all about fate to have a boy or a girl. You can't force it. Zhiqin, don't buy that medicine. What if something bad happens to you?"

Pei Zhiqin curled the corners of his mouth.

She felt that Wang Ruizhen did not understand her situation at all.

Li Jianguo's family favors boys over girls. She has been angry at home for many years because of not having a son, and having a son has become a knot in her heart.
