Chapter 194: Turbulent Times

Long after Xue Shiqian and the others left the Crystal Palace, Tu Nian's figure gradually emerged from the wall next to the shattered fragments of the door, with panic written all over his face.

Damn it, this time I really heard something I shouldn’t have heard.

Tu Nian rushed out of the Crystal Palace without daring to stay for even a second. A teleportation array sent him out of the blue sea, and then he flew his sword at full speed, returning to his own sect in just over an hour.

Running all the way back to the courtyard, Tu Nian saw that the door of the courtyard was open. He thought it was Bo Qiu who came back, and immediately felt like he had found his backbone.

However, when she excitedly stepped into the room, she only saw Bai Zhu huddled beside the bed, making the mattress for her. When the two of them looked at each other, her backbone instantly shattered again. She weakly threw herself onto the half-made bed, startling Bai Ze and Bai Shu who were unaware of the situation, "Sister, are you okay?"

"Still alive."

Burying his head on the soft pillow, Tu Nian sighed deeply and asked, "Why are you here at this time? Don't you have classes?"

While helping her tuck in the corners of the bed, Bai Zhu explained, "Master left home early today, and it just so happens that the spring bedding has been distributed. Remembering that Second Senior Brother said you'd be back soon, I wanted to come over and help you tidy up so you can come back and rest."

"Good brother."

The dark fog in his heart was half dispelled by Bai Ze's childish voice. Tu Nian pulled Bai Ze and Bai Shu onto the bed, grabbed his small tender hand, and said in a touching voice: "You are worthy of being my little cotton-padded jacket."

Seeing her exhausted appearance, Bai Zhu frowned and released a gentle spiritual energy from his palm, attaching it to her. "What's wrong with you? Are you so upset? Did you fail in your business? Or did the people from Bi Hai give you a hard time?"

"How do you know I'm going there for business, um—"

Tu Nian felt a tingling sensation in his waist and moaned softly in comfort. He simply stopped talking and half-closed his eyes to enjoy this unique spiritual massage.

Rubbing his palms rhythmically, Bai Zhu answered casually, "Someone asked this during Master's class, and I just happened to overhear."

This is too convenient... Oh, that's not right.

Hearing the perfunctory tone in his voice, Tu Nian's mind flashed, and she suddenly remembered that Bai Zhu was Bai Ze, who knew everything about astronomy and geography. Then why did she have to wait for Bo Qiu to come back? Couldn't she just ask her little cotton-padded jacket directly?

Thinking of this, she immediately turned over and sat up straight, put her hands on Bai Zhu's shoulders and said, "Little brother! Are you familiar with the history of Bi Hai?"

"Ah? Within a thousand years, it's still pretty..."

Her question was so sudden that Bai Zhu didn't think much about it and subconsciously told the truth. As soon as he said it, he realized that the conversation didn't seem to be going well. He shook his head and said, "No, no, those were all said by Elder Bi Hai when he came to teach. I only understood half of what he said, so it doesn't count."

"It's okay!" Tu Nian laughed unscrupulously as he listened to his increasingly confusing explanation. "I'm willing to listen to your half-understood ideas. It's fun when there's room for imagination."

"Okay, okay."

Bai Zhu nodded hesitantly and asked, "Which part do you want to hear?"

After a pause, he quickly explained, stiffening his neck: "What I mean is, Elder Bi Hai has only said so much. If you ask about something the elder hasn't said, then I won't be able to help you!"

"I know, I know." Tu Nian said it casually. After thinking for a while, he said, "Let's talk about the relationship between Bi Hai and Ji Xue. Tell us how our two families drifted apart."

At the same time, on the shore of Qianji Lake in Bihaimen, a group of people in black were hiding in the bushes by the lake, secretly observing the people coming and going from Bihaimen. If someone looked closely, they would find that these people were not only of burly build, but also had yellow-brown eyes.

That’s right, they were the group of men in black that Tu Nian was investigating.

After squatting for a while, the leader asked the person next to him, "Are you sure the breath is coming from the blue sea?"

The latter nodded firmly. "No doubt. My informant notified me using the Thousand Mile Sound Transmission just after he detected the presence of the aura. It hasn't even been an incense stick of time yet. It's impossible for him to get away by such a coincidence. Besides, think about the predecessor of Bi Hai. This is actually the most reasonable one."

"Reasonable?"

The leader snorted coldly, "Last time, it was the snow, and then later in Wozhou, you claimed to have sensed the presence of the Tushan clan, yet every time we went, we found nothing! If we hadn't happened to capture the traitor that day, the clan leader would have imprisoned you in the Trial Realm based on your repeated lies."

"I can't be wrong this time!"

The latter smiled sinisterly and said, "If I make a mistake again this time, I can ask for permission to go to the trial ground myself and kill a red-flame fire fox for the clan leader to eat with his wine."

"I hope so."

The man in the lead muttered something and said nothing else. He turned his head and a faint whimpering sound that did not belong to a human came out of his mouth.

Immediately after hearing this voice, more than ten men in black who were hiding in the bushes rushed out at the same time and moved towards the Blue Sea Gate at a ghostly speed.

Tu Nian's mind was a little confused.

The Gong family's pursuit of Xu Chi hadn't been resolved when a group of unidentified men in black arrived. Their identities were still unknown, but she learned about the utilitarianism of the old men in Bi Hai and their intention to tie Ji Xue to their chariot to fight against Yu Qing.

These complicated and confusing things seemed to have suddenly piled up together. Tu Nian tried to sort them out, but he got the illusion that he was caught in a messy web. The harder he tried, the harder his mind worked.

But no matter how difficult the task is, you have to do it one by one.

The next day, Tu Nian went directly to the main peak tower to find Nie Yanchen. Coincidentally, Jin Nanfeng and Chu Qiurong were both there, so she temporarily ordered these three guys to help her find clues about those men in black.

While flipping through the book, Tu Nian told everyone about his speculations about the man in black and the Gong family, except for avoiding talking about Bi Hai.

Jin Nanfeng and Chu Qiurong were not familiar with the Gong family and just listened to the story for fun, but Nie Yanchen was different.

After listening to Tu Nian's description, he quickly suggested based on his years of experience: "If it is true as you said, that the deaths of the Gong family are partly due to Yanyu Pavilion, then you can definitely pay a high price to buy a copy of the assassination client's personal information from Yanyu Pavilion."

Tu Nian was surprised and asked, "Is this okay? But I heard that Yanyu Pavilion has always done a good job of keeping assassination missions secret."

"That's all told to the outside world."

Waving his hand lightly, Nie Yanchen said, "In Yanyu Pavilion, money talks. As long as the price is high enough, there is no information you can't buy. Otherwise, why do so many people who patronize Yanyu Pavilion die suddenly for no apparent reason?"

At this point, he paused, his eyes darkening slightly, "There's a price to pay for buying your life from the Misty Rain Pavilion."
