She swallowed and was about to walk towards the Old Beijing Copper Pot next door, but suddenly she saw Bo Qiu and the bun shop owner waved to each other, and after exchanging a few words, he walked straight into the bun shop.
Looking at Bo Qiu chatting and laughing with Boss Zhao, she stood there for a long time, unable to come back to her senses. It was not until Bo Qiu turned around and called her that she trotted a few steps into the store.
As the two of them sat down at the table, Boss Zhao approached with his hands behind his back and asked, "What would you like to order?"
"Three signature dishes, a bowl of tofu pudding, and a plate of pickled vegetables." Bo Qiu finished his order smoothly and raised his chin towards Tu Nian. "What about you?"
Tu Nian was becoming increasingly confused. She glanced at Boss Zhao, who seemed accustomed to the meal, and said, "One tray of signature dishes, one tray of wild vegetables, and a bowl of tofu pudding, not too spicy."
Bo Qiu frowned and said, "No chili, no chili for both bowls."
Boss Zhao smiled knowingly and walked towards the kitchen with his hands behind his back, staggering.
Tu Nian held it in for a long time, and when he saw the boss leave, he asked, "Boss, do you often eat here?"
Bo Qiu suppressed his smile, raised his hand to pour her a cup of tea, and pretended to be surprised: "Why, you come here often? How come I haven't seen you many times in all these years?"
"I..." Tu Nian was about to mention his mother, but changed his mind and swallowed his words, saying, "I only come here once in a while. But the food there is really good. I didn't expect that you, Mr. Bo, would like it too."
Seeing that she was clearly expressing her true feelings but was now saying such polite words, Bo Qiu felt a little annoyed and picked up the teapot to pour himself another cup of tea.
He blew away the tea leaves in the cup and said leisurely, "Didn't I tell you not to call me Mr. Bo? Why are you still calling me that?"
Tu Nian took a sip of water nervously, sweat breaking out on his forehead: "Hey, I forgot."
"You two are here with your signature—"
The shouts carried from the kitchen to the hall, sounding even more interesting. However, this time the person delivering the buns was not Boss Zhao, but a little boy who looked only about seventeen or eighteen.
The boy, wearing thick cotton gloves, placed two steamers on the table with one hand, bent down, his face full of enthusiasm: "You two eat first, there are also steamed wild vegetables in the steamer, and the side dishes and tofu pudding will be here soon!"
The steaming hot dumplings were fresh from the oven, and the fragrant aroma of noodles filled the air. As the boy left, Tu Nian stared at the steamer in front of her, her eyes wide open.
She used one hand to draw a plate from the side, which was filled with vinegar and chili peppers. She took a pair of chopsticks from the bamboo tube on the table and started eating.
The chopsticks were halfway through poking when they were intercepted by Bo Qiu in mid-air. Tu Nian looked up and narrowed his eyes: "What are you doing!"
Bo Qiu smiled: "You, eat this."
A dish of clear fragrant vinegar was pushed in front of him, while the dish of chili peppers was dragged away mercilessly by Bo Qiu. Tu Nian wanted to cry but had no tears, so he endured the pain and started eating.
After eating the dumplings, both of them were in a good mood, but it was getting late, so they just chatted for a while over tea at the table and then went home.
Bo Qiu walked Tu Nian downstairs at Bo's International, where they encountered a group of overworked people leaving the building. Their exaggerated attire was exactly the same as it had been during the day. The only difference was that Tu Nian could now speak freely about the words he had hesitated to say during the day.
"What's wrong with this company? How can the employees do their job if they dress like this?" Perhaps because the dumplings touched her heart, even her tone of voice became much more relaxed.
"Yes, the boss of this company is somewhat ill." Bo Qiu continued.
Tu Nian looked at him with disdain and shrank back with such force that he almost appeared to have a double chin. "I at least gave you an office, and you're being so disloyal."
Bo Qiu chuckled, seemingly completely unconcerned about this office. "If saying something is considered disloyal, then I'd rather he say a few more words about me, so he can raise his standards in other areas."
Tu Nian was startled. Somewhere else? The bottom line? She let the two words drift further and further away in her mind. Finally, she simply patted Bo Qiu's shoulder.
Bo Qiu turned his head to look at her, only to see a look of regret and comfort on her face.
"Life is always difficult. One thing is good, another is difficult. Be more positive."
"What are you thinking?" Bo Qiu knew that this girl thought she was being taken advantage of. He grabbed the hand on her shoulder and smacked her head back, not too hard or too light, just enough to give her a little pain.
"I advise you to calm yourself down first. Tia's class isn't easy to take. She has a bad temper, and Shaohua has asked her to supervise the Mid-Autumn Festival banquet these two days, which is a lot of troublesome and trivial. If you don't pay attention in class, she will definitely scold you to death."
Tu Nian covered his forehead and rolled his eyes at him: "I will definitely not do something like being lazy, so don't worry about it, Mr. Bo."
"Hiss," Bo Qiu took a breath, his brows knitted together: "How many times have I said it..."
"Bo Qiu!" Tu Nian immediately changed her words. Although it was very uncomfortable to call him by that name, she absolutely dared not disobey the boss' order.
When the topic of address came up, she recalled what people had called Bo Qiu today, so she asked, "Come to think of it, back in Shaohua, everyone seemed to call you Erxi more often, right?"
"What else? Erxi is my stage name. Why don't you go ask on the street and see if anyone knows Bo Qiu." Bo Qiu looked at her as if she were a fool.
"I remember the short, slightly fat one..."
"Old Zhu has been my friend for many years. How can he be like them? Look at that guy Chu Qiurong. When has he ever called me Erxi?"
"so……"
Tu Nian thought about it and realized that this was indeed the case. "Then the woman in white today, are you very familiar with her?"
