Su Xieqiu and Chenchen were chatting intimately while cooking.
An An watched the twins finish washing and then took them to the backyard to catch insects.
Except for little Han Wenyu who was still sleeping soundly on the kang, no one in the family was idle.
Su Xieqiu cleaned the wild vegetables and fried the shredded potatoes that Chenchen had cut. "Chenchen, mix the wild vegetables for a while. I'll go see if my sister is awake."
"I know, Aunt Su, you go ahead.
"Add more sesame oil. Don't be reluctant. Just buy more after you finish eating." Su Xieqiu reminded again before leaving.
Chenchen is older now and more sensible. He probably knows that there are many children in the family and the burden is heavy, so he is very fussy when cooking. He is reluctant to put this and that away, and is becoming more and more like his great-grandmother.
Su Xieqiu felt both amused and distressed. She had told him several times that there was no shortage of food at home, and only then did the boy become a little nicer and finally not so stingy anymore.
Su Xieqiu tiptoed to the bedroom and saw that his daughter was still sleeping soundly, so he did not disturb her. He took out a piece of black coarse cloth from the space and prepared to make a shoulder bag for each of the children so that they could carry things when going to the fields.
While she was cutting the cloth with scissors, little Han Wenyu turned over, hummed twice, and fell asleep again.
Su Xieqiu raised the corners of his lips, put down the scissors in his hand, and helped her pull the quilt.
The little girl's full name is Han Wenyu, and her nickname is Tiantian. She can eat and sleep well, and she smiles when she sees people. She is a very well-behaved fat child.
Although he is only one year old, he can already walk with support.
Grandma Du gently opened the door and asked in a low voice, "Zhenyu's wife, Tiantian hasn't woken up yet?"
Su Xieqiu smiled and shook his head, "Grandma, please sit down and rest for a while."
"I'm not tired, just a few clothes." Grandma Du looked at her great-granddaughter who was sleeping soundly, with a smile on her face.
She said, "Zhenyu's wife, you still have to go to work later, take the children to eat first, I'll stay here to watch over Tiantian."
Su Xieqiu looked at the watch and saw that there was still more than half an hour before work started.
She stood up, put down the scissors in her hand, and gently patted the thread off her body.
She smiled and said, "Grandma, let's go eat together. Leave the door open. The little girl will cry if she can't see anyone."
Grandma Du sat on the kang, looking at Tiantian with a kind gaze, a happy smile on her face.
She stretched out her calloused hand and gently stroked her sweet cheek, her eyes full of concern and love.
Hearing Su Xieqiu's words, Grandma Du shook her head and said gently: "I'm not hungry yet. Go quickly and don't worry about me. When Tiantian wakes up, we can eat together."
Su Xieqiu couldn't persuade the old lady, so he smiled, shook his head, and got up to go to the main room.
Chenchen has already served the rice and is placing the chopsticks.
Haohao and Xuanxuan stood obediently in front of the table. Anan was helping them tie their bibs and kept nagging them, "Be careful when you eat later, don't spill anything on yourself."
"Got it, sister." The two little ones nodded obediently.
When he saw Su Xieqiu coming out of the house, he grinned and shouted, "Mom, it's time for dinner."
"Okay, sit down and eat, and then follow me to work later." Su Xieqiu said with a smile.
Breakfast consisted of rice porridge, boiled eggs, a bowl of shredded potatoes, a bowl of mixed wild vegetables, and a plate of dumplings left over from last night.
Chenchen placed a bowl of corn porridge in front of Su Xieqiu and asked, "Aunt Su, where is your great-grandmother?"
As soon as Chenchen finished speaking, An'an stood up and said, "Aunt Su, I'll go call my great-grandmother to come over for dinner."
"Your sister is in the room, go and call her." Su Xieqiu did not stop An An.
She couldn't beat her grandma, but An An had plenty of ways to deal with it.
As she expected, after a while, Grandma Du was pulled out by An An.
Chenchen had already helped her pull out the stool. Grandma Du was very pleased to see that the children were so considerate.
Su Xieqiu put the peeled eggs in her bowl and said, "Grandma, Tiantian doesn't wake up that quickly. Wait until you finish your meal and then you can feed her."
"Okay, okay, I'll listen to you." Grandma Du said happily.
After the family had breakfast, Chenchen went to school, and Su Xieqiu took the three children to the fields.
She was weeding in the front, and An An led the twins to pull the weeds by hand. No matter how much they worked, the most important thing was to participate.
"Sister, sister, there is a bug here." Haohao pinched a cutworm and excitedly asked An An for credit.
An An opened the small purse she brought with her and praised him with a smile, "Haohao is really capable. Leave it here and take it back to feed the chickens at noon."
Aunt Caihua, who was weeding with Su Xieqiu, was a little surprised to see that their children also came to work.
I heard that Han Zhenyu earns dozens of yuan a month, so why does he let his wife and children suffer like this?
She asked tentatively: "Zhenyu's wife, your children, even though they are so young, know how to work. You taught them really well."
"The two boys have been taken care of by their sister since they were young, so I haven't really worried about them."
Su Xieqiu pretended to be helpless and said, "Aunt, there is no other way. We have five children, and they are all big eaters. Their father's salary is not enough to support our family. The first thing I do when I get up every day is to go out and dig wild vegetables for a snack, so that I can save some food."
Aunt Caihua felt better after hearing this. Everyone in the village thought that Han Zhenyu was a formal employee and his family must have a good life with enough food and clothing, but she didn't expect that they were still living a tight life.
She didn't doubt what Su Xieqiu said. If the conditions were really good, who would be willing to let such a young child work?
Aunt Caihua smiled and said, "As the old saying goes, a grown-up boy will eat his father out of money. The boys in your family are still young now, and they will be able to eat more in a few years."
