Chapter 363: Stop in Beijing

Han Zhenyu took Su Xieqiu to find a guesthouse to stay in.

It was already evening, so the two decided not to go out. They planned to have a good rest for the night and then go sightseeing in Beijing tomorrow.

Han Zhenyu has frequently come to Beijing on business trips in recent years, sometimes two or three times a year. Although his stay is not long, he is basically familiar with the place.

After breakfast, the couple checked out of the room and found a remote alley. They put the things Lu Yiming bought for the children in the space and took the trolleybus to the most prosperous place in Beijing.

Su Xieqiu had been to Beijing several times in his previous life, and looking at the gray streets now, he felt extremely unfamiliar.

But when she saw those symbolic attractions, she suddenly felt familiar again.

Han Zhenyu borrowed a bicycle from an acquaintance and spent two days taking Su Xieqiu to travel around most of Beijing.

The two of them even went to take a look at the courtyards that he liked.

Han Zhenyu parked his bicycle in an alley, pointed to the yard opposite and said:

"Wife, my favorite part is this two-entry courtyard. There are nine rooms in the backyard, and a large open space. There are five rooms in the front yard, plus the gatehouse, which is enough for our family to live in. It can also accommodate guests. It's a pity that it's not easy to trade now. I'll think of a way to see if I can get in touch with the people at the Housing Authority."

Su Xieqiu looked at the geographical location nearby and found it was indeed good. Even decades later, this place would still be the center of Beijing.

"It is a bit troublesome to buy a house under the current policy, but there is no need to be too anxious. There will be plenty of houses in the future. You can just wait and look for one when one comes."

Han Zhenyu smiled and nodded, then looked at the yard with regret.

As the two were pushing their bicycles and preparing to leave, an old man in his fifties walked over with his hands behind his back.

He looked at Han Zhenyu, squinted his eyes and smiled: "Isn't this Xiao Han? Are you on a business trip again?"

"Hey, Uncle Sun, what are you doing?"

When Han Zhenyu saw an acquaintance, he quickly stopped his bicycle, gave him a cigarette and lit it for him himself.

Then he smiled and said, "Uncle Sun, I'm not on a business trip this time. My wife has never been to Beijing and she longs for this place, so I brought her here to see the world."

"Uncle Sun, hello." Su Xieqiu smiled shyly and took out four big apples from his bag. "Uncle Sun, we brought them from our hometown. Let you try them."

"Oh, thank you, girl."

Uncle Sun was a straightforward man. He took the apples with a smile and invited them to his home for dinner.

Han Zhenyu smiled and said, "Uncle, we have something else to do later, so we won't go. Next time I come on a business trip, I'll bring you some mountain products and come to see you then."

He and Old Man Sun met last year. At that time, the old man and his wife went to buy vegetables. Seeing that the cabbages at the supply and marketing cooperative were good, they bought some more and had some difficulty carrying them back.

Han Zhenyu happened to be riding a bicycle nearby, so he helped him carry the money back.

On the way Han Zhenyu sent the old couple home, he learned that they were from Beijing and that old man Sun knew everything about the neighborhood, big and small.

Han Zhenyu wanted to make friends with him, so every time he came here on business trips, he would come to play chess with him and drink tea. The two of them are now becoming more and more familiar with each other.

In fact, Han Zhenyu has met many people from Beijing in recent years, but the only one he likes is Old Man Sun.

The courtyard house with two entrances next door is the one that Old Man Sun told him about.

When Old Man Sun heard Han Zhenyu say that he had something else to do, he didn't force him and just smiled and nodded.

He knew that Han Zhenyu was very busy and only stayed for a day or two each time he came on business trips.

Old Man Sun glanced at the yard next to him and whispered, "I've been asking around for you recently. My little daughter came over a few days ago and I told her about this. She said my son-in-law has a friend who works at the Housing Authority, so I asked her to ask and see if she can think of a solution."

Han Zhenyu's eyes lit up when he heard this, and he said gratefully, "Uncle Sun, thank you so much. If this thing works out, I will definitely not let people help me for nothing. I will at least give him a red envelope of 200 as a thank you fee."

Old Man Sun waved his hand and said with a smile: "We'll talk about this later. I don't know if it can be done yet."

"Uncle, whether this succeeds or not, it will not affect the relationship between us." Han Zhenyu said jokingly.

Old Man Sun took a puff of his cigarette and asked him in confusion, "Xiao Han, this house is not cheap, it costs at least several thousand or tens of thousands. You don't work here, and you don't come here many times a year. Why buy a house here?"

Han Zhenyu pretended to be envious and said, "Uncle, this is Beijing. We dream of settling down here. If we can secure a house, I will try to get my job transferred here."

"Oh, it would be great if you could transfer your job to Beijing. It would be convenient for us to meet in the future."

Old man Sun was quite happy to hear this. He had a very good impression of Han Zhenyu and liked this young man from Northeast China. It would be great if he could be his neighbor in the future.

The more he thought about it, the happier he became. He decided to go to his daughter's house later to ask her and see how she had found out.

"Xiao Han, when are you going back? Where are you living now? I'll go ask my daughter. If I get any results, I'll let you know."

Han Zhenyu and Su Xieqiu were originally planning to go back tomorrow night, but after hearing what he said, they decided to stay for a few more days.

It would be great if they could get the house done this time. After the college entrance examination, they could move in directly.

Han Zhenyu pointed to the row of two-story buildings in front and said, "Uncle, we're staying at the guesthouse at the corner in front. We'll be here for a few more days. If you need anything, come find me."
