It was almost dark when Han Zhenyu got home.
Han Lei, Sun Dashu and Sun Dahan were preparing to go home.
Each of them held a dried fish in their hands, which Su Xieqiu had just given them.
"Brother Zhenyu, you're back."
Han Lei lifted the fish in his hand and said with a smile: "Sister-in-law said that you brought this back from your business trip, so let us take it back and try it."
Han Zhenyu smiled and nodded, "Do you know how to do it?"
"Your wife told us that you can soak it in water and steam it, or you can braise it or stew it." Sun Dahan said with a smile.
"You can also use it to stew tofu. I ate it once in the south and it tasted really fresh."
Han Zhenyu said to them, "Brother Sun, Leizi, Dashu, you have worked hard during this period. Tell your families tomorrow and have dinner here tonight. We can have a good chat together."
"Okay." The three of them didn't try to be pretentious and agreed readily.
Sun Dashu told Han Zhenyu the story of Sun Dabishi and Zhang Quezi getting married as a joke.
"I don't know how it happened that two young women fell into the river together and were bumped into by the two of them."
Sun Dashu and Han Lei talked back and forth, describing the entire process from the two female educated youth falling into the water to their marriages to Sun Dabishi and Zhang Quezi.
Han Zhenyu didn't answer, but just listened to them with a smile.
Several people were having so much fun here that they forgot to go home.
If Sun Dahan’s wife hadn’t come over to call people, they wouldn’t know how long the conversation would end.
Han Zhenyu had just sent the three of them to the main road when he saw his uncle and two cousins also preparing to go back.
Yan Daqiang and Yan Erqiang each held a fertilizer bag in their hands, which was bulging with something. No one knew what was inside.
"Uncle, elder brother, second brother, let's have dinner before leaving." Han Zhenyu said.
"We've already eaten, and we were afraid it would be unsafe on the road if we went back too late, so we didn't wait for you." Uncle Yan Guowei said as he walked, "Zhenyu, we're leaving first."
The three grown men were not afraid of walking at night, but they were afraid of encountering wild beasts coming down from the mountains.
Han Zhenyu nodded and warned: "Uncle, eldest brother, second brother, you should be careful on the road and pay attention to safety."
"I got it. You should go back and have dinner. Grandpa and my uncle are still waiting for you." Yan Daqiang said.
"Okay, I'll go back now."
Grandpa Du and Uncle Du were sitting in the room talking, while Su Xieqiu was sorting things beside them.
There was food on the table, including scrambled eggs with tomatoes and stewed vermicelli with kidney beans and pork slices.
There was also a plate of shredded potatoes and pickled peppers, and next to it was a pot of glutinous rice cooked with sorghum and rice.
When Han Zhenyu saw such a heartwarming scene at the door, he felt as if a warm current was spreading in his heart.
"Is Zhenyu back?" Grandpa Du said with a smile, "There's water in the basin outside. Go wash your hands and have dinner."
"Got it, Grandpa." Han Zhenyu parked his bicycle at the door and washed up casually outside.
When he entered the room, Su Xieqiu had already started serving the rice.
The food is a little cold, but it's just right to eat since the weather is hot now.
Han Zhenyu saw two large bags under his grandfather's bed, which were full of things, almost the same as what his two cousins had just taken away.
He asked, "Grandpa, what's in those two bags under your bed?"
When Grandpa Du heard him ask this, he asked in confusion: "Didn't you bring this from outside? Your wife brought it this afternoon, and your uncle took away two bags."
Han Zhenyu was very surprised. He quickly glanced at Su Xieqiu and saw that she secretly winked at him. He smiled and said to Grandpa Du: "Yes, I brought it back. I was too busy today and forgot about it."
Uncle Du swallowed the food in his mouth and said helplessly, "Why did you buy so many things? You brought so many canned fish and meat yesterday, and your wife brought so many more today. How much money will it cost? You spent all your salary. What will you do if you have a child in the future?"
Han Zhenyu didn't know what was in the bag, so he could only say ambiguously: "Uncle, it won't cost much."
He was afraid that his grandfather and uncle would continue to ask questions, so he quickly changed the subject and talked about transferring his household registration.
"I have completed all the procedures today. I have also received the food and oil certificate. I will start receiving the salary of a regular employee from next month."
Grandpa Du said excitedly: "Okay, okay, it will be fine if it is done. From now on, my grandson will also be a city dweller and will no longer have to worry about having no food to eat."
Maybe she was too happy, she even shed tears while talking.
Su Xieqiu put a piece of meat in his bowl and said with a smile: "Grandpa, I heard that the treatment of urban residents is very good. You and grandma can wait to enjoy the good life in the future. Han Zhenyu and I will be filial to you."
“Good, good, good, you two are both good kids…” Grandpa Du looked at the two of them and said several good words happily.
After dinner, Su Xieqiu took the dishes out to wash them, and Han Zhenyu followed behind to help.
Grandpa Du and Uncle Du looked at the young couple washing outside and felt that they were a perfect match.
"If your sister knew about this in the afterlife, she would be able to close her eyes in peace." Grandpa Du said with red eyes.
Speaking of his second sister who died young, Uncle Du felt very sad. He sighed and sat there in silence.
The two of them cleaned up the pots and pans. Seeing that it was getting late, Grandpa Du said he was tired and sent them back.
Han Zhenyu rode on the bicycle with his feet on the ground, and said to Su Xieqiu beside him: "Get on, I'll take you."
Su Xieqiu didn't hesitate and sat directly in the back seat, but he didn't know where to put his hands.
Han Zhenyu waited for her to sit firmly, and said without turning his head: "Hold on tight, don't fall down."
