Chapter 12 The police surrender

Chapter 12 The police surrender

"Really? Did you see two corpses in alley 547 yesterday?"

Two corpses in alley number 547? Cheng You's face showed a moment of blankness.

The truth, the first reaction, without any pretense. Gin observed and analyzed the other person's face, thinking to himself that the other person truly didn't know.

Cheng You had already guessed that the blond man named Cecil had killed his two men, but he still pretended to be innocent and asked Gin casually, "The bodies? I didn't kill them! It wasn't someone from your organization, was it? I really didn't do anything!"

"Shut up." Gin coldly swept his eyes across the room, his gaze filled with murderous intent and warning. He put away his beloved gun and observed his surroundings.

Cheng You immediately shut up. After the atmosphere eased, he smiled and said to Vodka, "Brother, what kind of organization are you? What do you mainly do? I'd like to join too."

Vodka puffed out his chest and said proudly, "Our organization has businesses in many areas, and our strength has been gradually increasing. But if you want to join, you'll have to show us your capabilities."

“I see…” Cheng You stroked his chin, pondering. He stared at Gin, who was surveying the surroundings, for a while, then turned his gaze to Vodka. He suddenly revealed a wicked smile.

Vodka: A bad feeling...

The next second, a dark shadow flashed past Vodka. Before he could react, a gun was already loaded and pressed against his forehead.

Vodka was somewhat panicked when he saw Cheng You pointing a gun at him. He stammered for a while and was about to ask Gin for help when Cheng You threw the gun to him.

Vodka instinctively took the pistol. It was his own gun, which meant that the other person had silently snatched it from his arms in an instant, loaded it, and pointed it at him? Vodka stood there stunned in surprise.

Cheng smiled and said, "How was it? My skills are pretty good, right?"

Gin saw all of this, chuckled, and praised, "Ah~ that's really good."

Cheng smiled without any modesty.

Seeing that his older brother had already agreed to let the other party join, Vodka said to Cheng You, "You can join our organization now, but you need to pass an exam to get a code name. Only with a code name can you be considered a true member."

Upon hearing this, Cheng looked at him incredulously: "Well... actually, I haven't completely agreed to join your organization yet."

Vodka: "Huh? You weren't just..."

Cheng You curled his lip: "Yeah, this is your assessment, but I feel you guys are too incompetent, so I didn't pass the organization's assessment."

Gin's smile vanished instantly, leaving only a gloomy atmosphere around him.

"No way, are you going to force me to join? I'm so scared." Cheng squinted his eyes to show fear, but his performance was so convincing that Vodka couldn't help but mutter, "You can't really tell he's scared from that expression."

"Our organization's strength is not for you to judge," Gin scoffed.

"Alright, I'm going abroad soon and won't be back for about six or seven years," Cheng said slyly. "If you still need me then, and you can find me, how about I join you?"

"Why do we have to find you? Others can have your abilities too." Gin glanced at them with disdain.

Cheng You shrugged. "Trust me, you'll need me then." He took a few steps back, and as his figure was about to disappear into the shadows, he spoke, "My name is Li Hua, and this body is my disguise. I'm about to leave the country, so you won't be able to find me. See you in seven years."

As soon as he finished speaking, the person in the shadows disappeared. Without Cheng You, the chatterbox, the surroundings finally returned to silence.

Vodka looked at Gin: "Brother, is what he said believable?"

Gin snorted and left in the opposite direction: "I hate riddle makers the most. Seven years from now, I'll see what makes him so compelling that we absolutely have to keep him here."

Gin sounded quite excited, so Vodka didn't say anything more.

After leaving the Nishino district, Cheng You quickly returned to the clothing store in the Higashino district, changed his clothes, and then took a taxi back to the hotel.

He remembered his promise to have dinner with Kenji Hagiwara the next afternoon, and thought he might as well treat tomorrow's meeting as a farewell. To be honest, he was more looking forward to the missions ahead and the promise he made to Gin than to a aimless vacation.

He'd have the distillery invite him to join, but he'd just keep them hooked, hehe. Awesome! Cheng You thought to himself with a smug grin.

Back at the hotel, Cheng briefly checked the news on the Gray Fox Assassins' Dark Web. Two or three people had already started posting bounty missions. Although the number was small, it was a slow start.

He turned off his phone and went to sleep, completely satisfied.

The next morning, Cheng You was awakened by a chaotic noise. He got out of bed in a great deal of annoyance, quickly washed up, and went out to see what was going on.

It turns out that the corrupt official, Soichiro Uchimura, has gone missing, and his last known location was a hotel here. Now that reporters have come to interview him, unfortunately the surveillance cameras are broken, so they can't find out if Soichiro Uchimura has left the hotel.

Reporters blocked the hotel entrance, demanding an explanation, while Soichiro Uchimura's assistant appeared very anxious. However, it seems likely that he will ultimately be classified as missing.

Cheng You, the culprit behind the sabotaged surveillance system, merely watched the farce unfold with indifference. He wasn't particularly bothered and was about to leave for breakfast when he overheard the inner thoughts of a potential criminal: "Damn it, Uchimura Soichiro has disappeared! All that hard-won information! I can't avenge my family myself now! But that despicable assistant and those reporters deserve to die too!"

[As a journalist, having this ability, instead of exposing Uchimura Soichiro's evil deeds, he's here pretending to be some great person concerned about officials. How utterly ridiculous.]

Today is your death day, I have already...

Cheng You didn't hear what happened next. Perhaps the other party had left the 100-meter range of the mind-reading ability. Cheng You's expression turned serious. He immediately returned to his room, used his computer to access the surveillance footage, calculated the distance of the other party to his location (about 100 meters away), and then calculated the time. Finally, he found the three targets.

Two of them kept walking and quickly moved out of the 100-meter range. Cheng You quickly ruled them out and focused on the last one. He checked the man's information; his name was Murayama Yuchi, and he seemed to have a deep grudge against Uchimura Soichiro. He pulled up all the surveillance footage of this man and found his hotel room number.

Cheng Youzheng planned to find the prisoner by following the room number and try to persuade him. If that failed, he would stop him to prevent him from committing a crime.

Just then, the phone on the table vibrated. Cheng picked it up and saw a message from Kenji Hagiwara. He said that he had received a report that someone had planted a bomb, and the afternoon dinner might have to be postponed.

Cheng replied that it was alright and he wasn't in a hurry. He couldn't help but think to himself, "Beihua Town really does have a small explosion every three days and a big one every seven days, huh?"

He put away his phone and headed towards Yuchi Murayama's room. As soon as he reached that floor, he saw a hooded man walking down the stairwell next to him.

Cheng keenly sensed that something was wrong with the other person. He immediately grabbed the man's wrist and observed him sharply, confirming that it was indeed Murayama Yuchi.

Yuchi Murayama paused for a moment, then snapped at the man, "Are you crazy?! What are you doing?!" [Is this guy here to investigate the bombing or the disappearance of Soichiro Uchimura? Ugh, either way, he's annoying.]

Listening to the thoughts of the person in front of him, Cheng You suddenly had an idea. Hagiwara Kenji said he went to deal with a bombing case. Could it be the bombing case that the person in front of him was talking about? Which bombing case was carried out by Murayama Yuchi?

"Oh, sir, you've dropped your phone," Cheng said, taking advantage of the other man's inattention. He swiftly snatched the phone from his pocket and then pretended to be a good Samaritan, returning it to him. "Sir, please be more careful next time you walk, you've dropped your phone."

“…Thank you.” Murayama Yuuchi paused, clearly not expecting this. He quickly took the phone and prepared to go downstairs, silently thinking: [The police should be here soon. Let them all be buried here!]

Hearing this confirmed Cheng You's suspicions once again: Murayama Yuchi had indeed hidden a bomb in the hotel. Cheng You spoke again, his tone faint yet nostalgic: "Sir, don't you think life is a very magical thing?"

Murayama Yuchi turned to look at him with some confusion. The other man's eyes held a hint of nostalgia, and he seemed genuinely reminiscing about the past. He didn't think much of it.

"When people collide, life comes into being, miracles happen," Cheng continued with a sigh. "What do you think, sir?"

"Crazy," Murayama Yuji muttered under his breath, turning to leave. But in his heart, he was already wavering on the plan: [Should we really do this? Do it! Why not! They deserve to die! The Metropolitan Police Department deserves to die too! The Public Security Bureau too! But they aren't necessarily all that corrupt. Then why don't they save me! Why!]

Cheng You slowly walked past him, casually saying, "There are so many people suffering in the world. I should be grateful for what I have now instead of complaining. Lord! I understand!" He acted exaggeratedly, like a superstitious teenager who believed in gods, with a sincere expression.

Despite his inner hesitation, Murayama Yuchi maintained a calm and composed demeanor.

Cheng You: As expected, everyone here is a drama queen.

At this moment, Cheng Youcai noticed a blond, dark-skinned man standing next to the stair railing, who seemed to have been standing there for a long time.

Cheng suppressed her surprise, put on a gentle smile, and looked at the blond, dark-skinned man: "What a coincidence, Mr. Furuya. When did you arrive?"

Rei Furuya smiled and said, "What a coincidence, Matsukawa, there's work here. Just when you were lamenting about life. I didn't expect Mr. Matsukawa to be so insightful."

"Haha, I just read it in a book. It just suddenly reminded me of my deceased family members and I felt very emotional." Cheng You smiled, but when he thought of his father who died while saving someone, a hint of sadness appeared in his eyes.

As Furuya Rei passed by him, he patted him on the shoulder: "There's some trouble here, it's not safe. You can leave through the back door."

Cheng responded gently, turned and left, not knowing whether Furuya Rei saw him take Murayama Yuchi's phone and then return it to him.

He walked slowly, listening intently to the sounds coming from the other side. If he wasn't mistaken, Furuya Rei was likely sent by the Public Security Bureau to investigate Uchimura Soichiro's disappearance.

It was probably along this line that the police eventually tracked down Nishino Ward a few years later, and through Nishino Ward, they took down a lot of gangs, eventually finding the distillery, and then sent two outstanding police officers to go undercover.

Sure enough, Cheng heard Furuya Rei's voice: "Mr. Murayama Yuchi, you are suspected of a missing person case. Please cooperate with our investigation."

A note from the author:

Seven years later, Cheng, under the alias Li Hua, makes a powerful comeback. The distillery begs him to join: "Boss, boss, join us!" The gangsters cry and beg him to leave: "Waaah, Dragon King, please be a normal person, we really can't afford to support you anymore."

Seven years later, Dragon King Cheng You returned home and discovered that the winery had killed his friend. He immediately dispatched three thousand cavalry to attack the winery. With a single command from Dragon King Cheng You, both the red and black teams were completely manipulated by him. —Purely abstract, haha.
