In the small room, a somewhat worn brown wooden desk stands in the center, behind which is a handmade chair full of holes.
On the left side of the room, there is a small bookshelf filled with all kinds of books. If you look closely, you can see that the bookshelf has been neglected for too long, and there are already many white spider webs in the gaps.
Besides these things, the only other thing in the room was the yellowed paper on the desk, which mostly contained abandoned imperial financial plans.
The white tiles on the ground, too, have been covered with a layer of fine, dark gray dust over time.
Li Anqi stared straight at the small office that originally belonged to her grandfather, but had been abandoned by the Imperial Finance Headquarters after he went insane.
Before she could think further, Gu Changqing had already entered the room.
Gu Changqing's divine sense could only probe the surface of the room, but it could not penetrate the internal structure of the various items. This indirectly proved that Li Anqi was not lying to him, and only the golden jade pendant could block his divine sense perception.
Li Anqi, who was outside the door, came to her senses after seeing Gu Changqing enter the office. She stopped thinking about the past and followed Gu Changqing into the office, speaking softly:
"I hid that last gold jade pendant under the white tiles under my desk."
Upon hearing Li Anqi's words, Gu Changqing immediately looked at the wooden desk with yellowed papers scattered on it.
Without needing to say anything more, with just a slight release of divine sense, the brown wooden desk and the documents on it turned into a cloud of dust.
Although divine sense cannot probe the interior of an object, it can still destroy it.
After wiping away the dust on the ground, several white tiles of slightly different colors came into Gu Changqing's view.
"Go and retrieve that gold and jade pendant and give it to me."
After doing all this, Gu Changqing said to Li Anqi beside him, "This is because my divine sense cannot probe inside her. Although it is somewhat impossible, it is still to prevent her from setting up any backup plans."
Li Anqi, standing to the side, didn't think much of it. She simply assumed Gu Changqing didn't want to squat down and do it, so she softly replied:
"Okay, I understand."
After saying that, she walked to the side of the white tiles and began to feel around on them with her slender, white arms.
Before long, after finding the gap they had left, they gently lifted a white tile with their small hands, revealing a hidden compartment beneath it.
A gold pendant emitting a faint golden light lay in the hidden compartment. Besides this last gold pendant, there was also a photo of Li Anqi with her grandfather, who was still conscious.
Looking at the group photo, Li Anqi felt a lump in her throat, a wave of sadness washed over her, and tears welled up in her eyes, as if they might fall at any moment.
However, she did not shed a tear. Instead, she picked up the spotless photo from the hidden compartment and gently placed it in the inside pocket of her coat.
Gu Changqing naturally saw the ordinary group photo, but he didn't care about it. Anyway, once he got the last gold jade pendant, he would activate the formation and make everyone who knew about this disappear.
After carefully placing the group photo close to her body, Li Anqi took out the only remaining gold jade pendant from the hidden compartment and took one last look at this final birthday gift from her grandfather.
She then slowly walked up to Gu Changqing and gently placed the gold jade pendant on his outstretched left hand.
After that, Li Anqi stood quietly in place, staring wide-eyed at the aloof and beautiful young man in front of her, dressed in a white robe.
If he liked me too, that would be wonderful!
Seeing Gu Changqing's image reflected in her eyes, Li Anqi couldn't help but think of him.
