Chapter 125 I'm Going to Find Ruan Ruan

After Su Ruanruan was released from prison, she went to the tofu shop and found that Ziwu had not yet returned from Maoshan Village.

When she returned to Mu Bai's house, she found it locked and Mu Bai was not home.

Su Ruanruan went to the kitchen to boil some hot water, changed out of her clothes which were stained with the musty smell of the prison cell, and, mindful of the wound on her shoulder, only managed to wipe herself clean.

I sat in the house for a while, but Mu Bai didn't come back.

She thought that Mu Bai must have listened to her and obediently returned to the academy, and he probably didn't know that she had been released.

Su Ruanruan was hungry and too lazy to cook, so she simply locked the door and went to the street to buy some food.

When someone recognized her, instead of mocking her as before, they told her to take good care of herself.

Some people were curious as to why she was released so quickly.

After all, there were rumors circulating on the street that she was a murderer. With her appearance, those rumors were dispelled.

But it doesn't matter, she believes that what she wants, Ziwu will definitely get for her.

The Su family will never be able to bully me and Su Xiaoxi again.

Su Ruanruan sat in a teahouse not far from the city gate, watching the crowds coming and going.

When she finished her tenth bowl of tea, she saw two familiar figures from the shaft of a carriage.

The people chatting and laughing were his own tofu shop employees.

Su Ruanruan stood up and took a few steps forward. The waiter saw her and quickly turned around to whisper a few words to the person behind the curtain.

Ziwu got off the carriage and told them to go back first.

Su Ruanruan led the purple mist to a less crowded area and asked in a low voice, "How is it?"

"Your Majesty can rest assured that I have done my job well." She took out a few sheets of paper from her bosom and handed them to Su Ruanruan.

Su Ruanruan found a spot where lanterns were hanging, examined it carefully, and was extremely satisfied.

She carefully put them away, smiled, and said, "You must be tired from this trip. Go back and rest early."

After parting ways with Ziwu, Su Ruanruan was in a great mood. She went to a restaurant and ordered half a roast goose, intending to secretly go to the academy to find Mubai.

But in the distance, she saw a person whose figure was somewhat similar to Mu Bai's. She followed him and saw that the person stopped in front of a small stall.

The moonlight streamed down, and Su Ruanruan could barely make out his face.

It was Xiaoyu who noticed that his figure was somewhat similar to Mu Bai's.

Fearing she would be entangled, Su Ruanruan slipped away as fast as she could before he noticed her.

As dusk fell, Su Ruanruan took a detour, choosing a more crowded path. When she reached the vicinity of the Fengshui Bridge, she saw a man dressed in white whose silhouette was strikingly similar to Mu Bai's.

He was holding a small wine jar in his hand, and his steps were unsteady.

Su Ruanruan knew that Mu Bai never drank alcohol.

But that silhouette really looked like him.

Seeing him sitting on the steps with his back to her, Su Ruanruan quickly walked over and went around to face him.

"Brother Mu Bai?!"

Mu Bai placed the small wine jar on his lap and wrapped his arms around the jar.

Hearing someone call his name, he raised his head blankly.

He couldn't believe the person in front of him looked exactly like Ruan Ruan. Ruan Ruan was still in prison; this must be his hallucination.

He took another swig of wine, and the pungent taste made him cough.

"Brother Mu Bai, what are you doing here? And you've drunk so much."

Su Ruanruan stepped forward to help him up, but Mu Bai brushed her away.

"Don't touch me. I don't know you. If Ruan Ruan sees me, she won't want me anymore."

Su Ruanruan, "..."

Su Ruanruan bent down and squatted in front of Mu Bai. "Who is Su Ruanruan?"

She reached out to wipe the wine stains from Mu Bai's lips, but Mu Bai turned his head away to avoid her.

"You're so mean! I don't want you to touch me, why are you still touching me?"

He squinted at the person in front of him and said, "You look just like Ruan Ruan..."

"However, your eyes aren't as big as hers, your nose isn't as small as hers, and your mouth...mouth..."

He looked somewhat confused, blinking as he stared at the face for a long time. "Who... are you?"

"I don't know you. Don't try to fool me. I have no money on me."

"Ruan Ruan said I'm good-looking, but I only look at her. Don't look at me like that."

He even turned his body to the side, turning his face away.

The full moon shines as brightly as water, its gentle light bathing the earth as if gilding everything in the world with a layer of silver.

Mu Bai's profile was also bathed in a silvery glow. He looked up at the starry sky, a faint sorrow seemingly shrouding his brows.

Su Ruanruan quietly gazed at this painting, which was even more beautiful than any other artwork.

But then Mu Bai tilted his head back and gulped down another mouthful of strong liquor, then coughed a few times in a low voice.

The blush on her pale skin became even more vibrant. It was a pity that the night was too dim, and Su Ruanruan couldn't see clearly.

She was about to reach out and snatch the bottle from his hand when she noticed a tear had landed on the back of her hand.

"Mother, am I really useless? I can't protect Ruan Ruan..."

“She was locked up in jail, and there was nothing I could do. I went to ask the teacher for help, but he wasn’t there.”

"Mother, will I bring bad luck to those around me? My younger brother was born without breathing, and you were burdened by life to take care of me!"

"Now, it's soft again."

Mu Bai choked up and said, "Mother, what should I do? Will Ruan Ruan have a smooth life if I leave? But I don't want to leave Ruan Ruan, I really love her."

"I love Ruan Ruan, I can't live without her..."

Su Ruanruan's hand froze in mid-air, her heart gradually filled with indescribable emotions.

Like a dull knife tearing through my chest, the cold night wind seeping in.
