Chapter 126 Falling into the Water

"Mmm." Mu Bai obediently squatted down to the side, like a well-behaved child.

She had agreed readily, but when Su Ruanruan came out of the outhouse, Mu Bai was nowhere to be seen.

I knew from the start that the words of a drunkard are not to be trusted.

Unexpectedly, Mu Bai, who is handsome and has clear features and usually keeps his promises, became unruly after getting drunk.

Su Ruanruan searched everywhere, but couldn't find him anywhere.

"I heard someone fell into the water over there!"

"Let's go take a look."

Someone walked past her and ran away like the wind.

Su Ruanruan looked over and only saw the hem of her clothes blending into the night.

Before I could even ask, my heart started to ache, and a bad premonition arose.

My feet wouldn't obey me and followed in that direction.

I walked faster and faster until I returned to the Fengshui Bridge.

A crowd of onlookers had already gathered there, some carrying lanterns and craning their necks to look down from the bridge.

Su Ruanruan moved closer and looked down from the bridge, but the distance was too far, and she could only see blurry, swaying black dots.

"Miss Su, what a coincidence!"

Wei Zheng leaned against the bridge pier and had already seen Su Ruanruan's figure.

Su Ruanruan kept her gaze fixed on the river surface, where she couldn't see anything clearly, and didn't hear anyone calling her.

Wei Zheng took a few more steps closer, "Miss Su?"

Su Ruanruan turned around blankly, stared at Wei Zheng for a few moments, and then recognized him.

"It's you."

Su Ruanruan touched her chest, feeling a terrible panic. She stared at the water and ignored Wei Zheng.

Wei Zheng was surprised that Su Ruanruan ignored him, but he secretly arranged for her to be released ahead of time. He was really heartless.

He glanced down at him and said, "Huo Yan is strong and healthy, he'll be fine. He's just saving someone."

He smiled meaningfully again, "I didn't expect you to care about him so much."

"Huh?" Su Ruanruan then realized that one of the people in the water was Huo Yan.

Who was the other person? She looked closer, but could only make out a blurry silhouette…

Could that person be Mu Bai?

Su Ruanruan dared not think wildly; it couldn't be Mu Bai's. They had already left Fengshui Bridge, and Mu Bai could never come back.

He must have gone to the government office to find her himself.

Just as Su Ruanruan was about to leave, a little beggar rushed out from the other side and blocked her way.

Su Ruanruan recognized him; she had helped him out before.

Before she could even speak, the little beggar pointed down the bridge, "It's Young Master Mu! Young Master Mu has fallen into the water!"

The last thread in her mind snapped, and Su Ruanruan's pupils contracted sharply. She grabbed the little beggar's shoulder and asked, "Who? Who did you just say was?"

"Yes...it is Young Master Mu, Scholar Mu Bai."

Wei Zheng listened from the side, his eyes lowered in thought. He had heard about Mu Bai in the past few days.

Looking up again, Su Ruanruan had already shot out of the crowd like an arrow released from a bow.

Without a second thought, Wei Zheng followed.

When Su Ruanruan reached the shore, Huo Yan had already dragged the drowning person to shore.

As soon as he put Mu Bai on the ground, Su Ruanruan pushed through the crowd and rushed forward.

When he saw who it was, he trembled all over and almost fell to the ground.

Mu Bai was soaked to the bone, his moon-white clothes clinging tightly to his body, and his face was deathly pale.

The river water was icy cold, and he was also enveloped in a layer of chill.

"Oh dear, this person is probably dead."

"He doesn't even move an inch; even a celestial being couldn't save him."

The people around me chimed in with their own comments.

Su Ruanruan's mind was a mess. She forced herself not to be disturbed by them and to calm down.

Huo Yan stood to the side, wringing out the water from his clothes, but his gaze remained fixed on Su Ruanruan.

She was already kneeling on the ground, her voice hoarse, "Mu Bai, Mu Bai."

They called his name and patted his shoulder, but Mu Bai didn't react at all.

Su Ruanruan observed carefully again and found that his chest and abdomen did not move up and down.

This means that Mu Bai has suffered cardiac arrest.

As a doctor, she should have remained calm, but the person lying on the ground was her beloved. It would be a lie to say she wasn't panicked.

With red eyes, Su Ruanruan immediately began CPR.

She lifted Mu Bai's chin and cleared the foreign object from his mouth.

Then her lips covered his.

The people around sighed in dismay.

"How could she... how could she be so shameless?"

"They don't even spare the dead."

“I recognize her, she is Su Ruanruan.”

"Oh, Su Ruanruan, the woman who was raped by Butcher Zhou?"

"Wasn't she locked up? How come she was released so quickly?"

Su Ruanruan ignored them. She first performed five artificial respirations, and then immediately began chest compressions.

"Why is she even making a fuss about dead people?"

"that is!"

Su Ruanruan repeated these two actions over and over again, but Mu Bai did not react at all.

Huo Yan reached out and grabbed Su Ruanruan's arm. "That's enough, he's already dead."

Su Ruanruan flung him away, trembling all over, tears streaming down her face.

She looked at Huo Yan with red eyes, "Don't touch me, Mu Bai isn't dead!"

She continued to use the knowledge she had learned, again and again...

Huo Yan was stung by her gaze; it was the first time he had ever seen Su Ruanruan display such sorrow and pain.

She seems... to really care about Mu Bai, and isn't just toying with him.

Wei Zheng glanced at him and said, "Sigh, what are you thinking about?"

Huo Yan said coldly, "Shut up!"

"Brother Mu Bai, don't sleep, wake up!"

"Please wake up, please don't leave me."

Time passed slowly, and Su Ruanruan's hands grew sore, tears falling drop by drop onto Mu Bai.
