Chapter 139 Half a Hibiscus Noodle

Su Ruanruan smiled innocently, "Every time I work in the workshop, I always sneak a bowl of it when no one is looking. Look at my complexion, it's much better than before, even Brother Mubai can't take his eyes off me."

Upon hearing the name "Mu Bai," Su He recalled the time she spent with him at the Fengshui Bridge when they set up a stall together.

Although he didn't talk to her much, his refined and easygoing manner made it impossible for her to look away.

In what way is she inferior to Su Ruanruan?

Su Ruanruan isn't as pretty or as gentle as her, so what exactly does he like about that person?

Even on the day he fell into the water, he kept muttering Su Ruanruan's name.

Before she could even react, a bowl of fragrant soy milk was placed to her lips.

"Drink it! I specially borrowed sugar from the shopkeeper and added it in. It's very sweet. If you don't drink it, you'll really be letting me down."

Su Ruanruan giggled, and her appearance put Su He at ease.

She really doesn't know anything, does she?

She picked up the bowl and drank the soy milk in one gulp.

After sitting for almost half an hour, Su Ruanruan showed no intention of leaving.

I kept chatting with Suhora about everyday things, it was so boring it couldn't be more boring.

Su He was bored and sleepy, her eyelids drooping.

Su Ruanruan glanced at her, then lowered her eyes. The topic shifted, and she began talking about the two days they were kidnapped by the flower thief.

As the past was gradually revealed, the scene of that night reappeared before her eyes like a revolving lantern. Su He instantly sobered up, and her face turned extremely ugly.

Su Ruanruan continued, "Sigh, let bygones be bygones. What's done is done, and there's no point in dwelling on it. It's just that I've been having nightmares these past few days, and I have nowhere to talk to but you."

"After all... we've had similar experiences, don't you think?"

Seeing the turbulent emotions in Su He's eyes, she said, "Sigh, let's not talk about this anymore, let's talk about something else."

Su Ruanruan started rambling on, recounting her amusing anecdotes from the tofu shop, speaking slowly and softly...

When I looked up again, I saw that Su He had fallen asleep on the stool, but there was a look of pain between her brows.

It took Su Ruanruan a lot of effort to move her to the bed in the inner room.

She sat on the edge of the bed, her fingers tracing across her brow.

“I wanted to be your friend, but you turned your back on me and left me in the hands of Butcher Zhou.”

“You’ve been cruel to me, and I might turn a blind eye out of pity. But you shouldn’t have schemed against Mu Bai.”

"You love Mu Bai, yet you disregard his life and death."

“I tried to enlighten you and help you start a new life. I was determined to do good, but you led me astray.”

"Then don't blame me for destroying you in the way you hate most."

"What you sow today will bring tomorrow's consequences; what you reap today is the result of yesterday's actions. Since you treated me this way first, don't blame me for what I'm going to do!"

Su Ruanruan cracked open the back window and looked back. It was a dark alley with all sorts of messy and dirty things on it.

She carried the remaining half-bowl of soy milk out the front door, mimicking Su He's voice before leaving, "Let me see you off."

Su Ruanruan said, "No need. You've had a long day, so you should rest. You don't need to come out to see me off; it's cold outside."

Su Ruanruan quickly closed the door.

In the courtyard, Aunt Li happened to come out of the outhouse. When she saw Su Ruanruan come out, she said warmly, "You treat her very well."

Su Ruanruan smiled faintly, "We are both orphans, so it's natural that we sympathize with each other. It's also fate."

"However, I'll be very busy at work these next few days, so I probably won't have time to come see her."

"It's getting late, ma'am, I have to go now."

Two men were already waiting for her at the alley entrance. The area was a complex place, better during the day than at night.

Upon seeing her come out, the two men quickly came up to escort her away.

Su Ruanruan did not return to Mu Bai's house, but went to the tofu shop instead.

She had someone fetch a bucket of bathwater and then asked Ziwu to pour a jar of strong liquor into the water.

Only then did he take off his clothes and step into the water.

When she reappeared, she had a beautiful face and skin as white as snow.

Only the scar on his shoulder detracts from the aesthetic appeal.

Ziwu was stunned. She had never imagined that her master's ordinary exterior could be so dazzling and captivating.

"What are you daydreaming about? Hurry up!" Su Ruanruan flicked her forehead lightly.

Zi Wu then came to her senses and hurriedly wrapped the prepared white cloth tightly around Su Ruanruan's proud breasts, and then wrapped it around her waist several times, covering her slender waist that could be snapped in two with one hand.

After she finished dressing, she put an extra insole inside her embroidered shoes.

Looking at her own deflated chest and waist, which was almost the same as Su He's, Su Ruanruan realized that she and Su He had similar figures.

She carefully put away the hairpin in her hair, donned a veil, and, escorted by two servants, quietly climbed through the back window into Su He's house under the hazy moonlight.

...

Having spent a day at Suhe's house, she already knew the daily routines of the other people in the yard.

Before they got up, she went to the shared kitchen and steamed the leftover steamed buns from yesterday.

When Aunt Li and Uncle Zhu from Da Tie got up to get ready, Su Ruanruan was already wearing a veil and covering her exposed skin, making her skin completely similar to Su He's, before she carried her load out the door.

"Suhe, why are you setting up your stall so early today?" Aunt Li asked.

Su Ruanruan mimicked Su He's voice, "I'm a light sleeper. When I wake up early and have nothing to do, I think I'll go and come back early."

"Auntie, I'm leaving now."

Su Ruanruan was dressed in Su He's clothes, her hair was plain without a single hairpin, and her figure was no different from Su He's.
