Su Ruanruan was like a broken butterfly, stirring strange emotions in Huo Yan's heart.
"Okay. I promise you, you owe me a favor, and you'll have to repay it someday."
"Alright, as long as you take me there, I'll go through fire and water for you without hesitation."
Su Ruanruan prepared several more doses of herbal medicine for herself and waited at the clinic for Huo Yan to fetch the horse.
The fierce, maroon wind whipped through the waves, and although Su Ruanruan had taken her medicine, she still felt terribly unwell.
Behind her, Huo Yan held the reins and wrapped his arms around her, afraid that she would fall off the horse.
He was worried that Su Ruanruan's body couldn't handle it, so he didn't run very fast, but even so, it was still much faster than the carriage.
As it was getting dark, Huo Yan decided not to travel at night because Su Ruanruan was sick, and instead found an inn to stay at.
There was only one inn on the shortcut, and when they arrived, only one room was left.
The waiter was intimidated by Huo Yan's appearance and dared not be negligent in the slightest.
With a forced smile, he said, "Sir, our inn doesn't have many rooms to begin with, and now we only have one room left. We really have no other choice."
"Moreover, there are no other inns nearby. If you miss this one, you will never find a place to stay again."
Huo Yan pursed his lips. If he were alone, he could stay in the tree all night without any problem, but Su Ruanruan was still sick.
Su Ruanruan glanced at Huo Yan and said, "We'll take it." Then she took out some loose silver from her sleeve.
Huo Yan turned to look at her and stuffed the loose silver coins from his younger brother's hand back into Su Ruanruan's hand.
"We'll settle the bill when we leave."
The waiter nodded quickly, "Yes, yes, okay."
