"Hey, you can't blame the guy for this. You know what happened back then. I'm just heartbroken and don't plan to sell to them."
"But you're different. If you want to eat it, I'll take you to buy it."
"Really?" Niu Mang's eyes lit up.
"How could this be fake? I have to go out for a bit right now, I'll call you when it's time for dinner."
Niu Mang readily agreed and then practiced his swordplay in the courtyard.
Su Ruanruan went to the hot pot restaurant and asked her to send someone to change the menu of the braised meat shop today to the dishes that Niu Mang had been longing for.
He whispered a few more words in her ear before leaving with the people protecting her.
After staying in the teahouse for another hour, Su Ruanruan went back to call Niu Mang out.
"You two don't need to follow. With General Niu here, how could I possibly get lost?"
Niu Mang also said, "That's true. With me here, you can stay."
Leaving the two of them behind, Su Ruanruan led Niu Mang south of the city.
Amidst the chaos deliberately orchestrated by Zi Wu, Su Ruanruan managed to slip Niu Mang's waist token into her sleeve.
In less than the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, the place returned to normal. Niu Mang, preoccupied with his braised pork rice, didn't notice that his waist tag was missing.
Su Ruanruan seized the opportunity to leave and headed straight for the county jail.
The guards looked at the waist token in her hand and exchanged bewildered glances.
"What? I'm just a woman. If General Niu hadn't given me his waist token, how could I have obtained his personal belongings? Can't I even get in?"
"Or are you saying that because I'm just a concubine, you look down on me? If I tell Huo Yan this in the future, you'd better watch out for the punishment!"
"That's not what I meant. If you want to see Fu Hengfeng, I'll show you the way!"
"That's more like it."
Su Ruanruan wasted no time and followed him into the prison. He knew Niu Mang would soon notice that she and her waist token were missing.
The guards led her to Fu Hengfeng's cell, and then Su Ruanruan sent her away.
Su Ruanruan looked through the fence with her deep, cold eyes, and their eyes met.
He was much younger than she had imagined; he was a handsome young man.
However, beneath such a beautiful exterior lies a wicked heart that would not even spare a child.
“Su Ruanruan!” the person in the cell said slowly.
"You know me?"
Fu Hengfeng looked her over and said, "I've heard about her before, and she is indeed even more beautiful than I imagined."
"This body hasn't been wasted; it's managed to hook up with that rough guy, Huo Yan."
Su Ruanruan glanced at it coolly, "I didn't come here to hear this."
"Fight me to the death? To avenge your brother?" Fu Hengfeng sneered.
Su Ruanruan shook her head, "You're inside, and I'm outside. I'm just a woman with no strength to even kill a chicken; I can't kill you."
"Besides, even if I kill you now, I'll still be arrested once I'm out of jail."
"I came here just to see what kind of heartless monster would not even spare a child. I thought it was a monster with a blue face and fangs, but I didn't expect to see a beast in human skin."
Upon hearing this, Fu Hengfeng was very displeased, and his brows furrowed.
Then, as if remembering something, a smile spread across his lips.
His eyes and brows were gentle, yet he uttered the most vicious words in the world.
"Do you know how that child reacted when I threw him into the cage? His face turned pale, and he cried out, 'Sister, save me... save me...'"
"I watched the whole thing. At first, his voice was very loud, then it gradually became as soft as a mosquito's buzz, and then... he stopped breathing..."
"That lump of meat was eventually thrown out; it was truly pitiful."
Su Ruanruan gripped the dagger in her sleeve tightly, wanting to pry open the prison door and tear the person inside to pieces.
But with so many eyes watching from the surrounding cells, even if she killed him, she wouldn't escape the consequences.
Su Ruanruan tried to calm her mind, which he had stirred up, and said with a smile, "You have done many bad things, and you will soon be escorted to the capital."
"As far as I know, what you did was punishable by the extermination of your entire family. How wonderful, your whole family is going to the afterlife together. There is no one as vicious as you in this world. People like you deserve to be childless and extinct."
“I cannot avenge you myself, but the laws of the Great Shun can behead you for me.”
Fu Hengfeng's upturned lips fell, and his face darkened as he said, "You're nothing but Huo Yan's concubine, a plaything who uses her looks to serve him. You'll be abandoned in a few years. Don't be too happy."
“If you could really keep him here, he wouldn’t have rushed to the capital overnight after hearing that my sister was in a coma.”
Su Ruanruan's expression hardened. "What did you say?"
Fu Hengfeng instantly gained momentum, "What? You don't know?"
"You don't even know my sister, Fu Xinrou?"
Fu Xinrou? Su Ruanruan had no idea who she was.
“I will die, but my sister won’t. With her by my side, Huo Yan will always protect her. They’ve known each other for over a decade. If my father hadn’t separated them, you wouldn’t be in this situation.”
Su Ruanruan's face paled slightly. Did Huo Yan have someone he liked?
Huo Yan has someone he loves!
Although she didn't know the reason, she got involved in their relationship.
She never intended to interfere in other people's relationships, much less become a third party in them.
She hated people like that, yet she became one of them.
Su Ruanruan's gaze was sharp as a knife, staring straight at him.
It's easy to tell from his tone that he loves his sister very much.
The best way to kill someone is to destroy their spirit. Even if you can't kill them outright, you can still stab them with an invisible knife.
Su Ruanruan slowly stroked her abdomen, "How can the outcome of emotions in this world be determined by the length of time?"
"If Huo Yan's heart is filled with your sister, then there's no room for me."
"Although I am a concubine and Huo Yan has no wife, he has never given me any contraceptive soup..."
