Chapter 188 We Meet Again

"I don't know, such a delicate little girl, what if she got into a fight..."

Seeing that Niu Mang was hesitant, Su Ruanruan quickly said to the coachman, "Let's go, we're blocking other people's way."

Niu Mang's voice came from behind, "You two protect Aunt Su well. If anything happens to her, I'll hold you responsible."

Su Ruanruan stuck her head out and waved to Niu Mang behind her with a smile.

Su Ruanruan went to the furniture factory, leaving two guards at the main gate, while she, the manager, and Qin Bei's master craftsman went to the accounting office to sort out the accounts.

Although it was his first time meeting Su Ruanruan, he had heard of her before and naturally knew her identity.

"Where is Qin Bei?" Su Ruanruan asked.

The steward said, "It's really unfortunate. Qin Bei took leave yesterday and hasn't come today."

Su Ruanruan looked up at him, "Do you know why he asked for leave?"

The manager replied, "I'm not entirely sure about that either."

Qin Bei's master spoke up, "It seems his childhood friend from the village has gone missing, and he's going back to help look for him..."

Su Ruanruan was startled. "Do you know who it is? What's their name?"

The master paused, then shook his head. "This... he didn't say."

Could it be that Gu Ji has disappeared? Su Ruanruan felt a vague sense of unease.

However, she had to go save Ziwu and didn't have time to verify it.

Hopefully, she's just overthinking it.

Su Ruanruan paused in her flipping through the account book, stood up, and looked at Qin Bei's master with a smile, "Qin Bei and I grew up together. He is honest, kind, and hardworking."

“He has mentioned you to me more than once. I know that you have helped him a lot over the years and taught him a lot. He has always regarded you as a father.”

"From today onwards, I am handing this place over to Qin Bei. I hope you two can help him manage it well."

"Thank you in advance," Su Ruanruan said with a graceful curtsy.

"No, no, you are General Huo's man, how could we accept your courtesy?"

“We’ve been here for years and consider this our home. You don’t need to tell us; we’ll take good care of it. Don’t worry.”

Su Ruanruan was very satisfied and said, "That's good. You all go about your business quickly. Please invite my two guards to the front hall for tea. Tell them that I still have many account books to review and they should not disturb me for the next hour."

The two agreed and then went out.

Su Ruanruan stood quietly, watching the two figures walk further and further away. She gently ground the ink, picked up her brush, and was about to write, feeling as if she had a thousand words in her heart, yet she didn't know where to begin. The ink condensed at the tip of the brush, like a crystal teardrop, silently dripping down and staining the white paper, but she didn't write a single stroke.

She sat quietly at her desk, seemingly isolated from the world. She was pondering, for whom to write, and for whom to write, her thoughts tangled like a jumbled mess.

She finally stood up, pushed open the door, and looked up at the boundless sky. Time flies, the appointed time was approaching, and it was time for her to leave.

Like a light butterfly, she slipped away quietly through the back door unnoticed.

Not far away, an inconspicuous carriage sat quietly. The coachman stood beside the carriage like a statue. Seeing her approach, he nimbly jumped down from the carriage and lifted the curtain.

Where is the purple mist?

The driver's expression turned slightly cold. "Get in the carriage."

Seeing that Su Ruanruan refused to get in the car, he added, "We will release her once you leave Qingshan County."

How can I trust you?

"Believe it or not, it's up to you. Now, you have no choice. If you don't leave, then she's gone forever. Whether she lives or dies is entirely up to you."

Su Ruanruan had no choice but to step onto the carriage and grit her teeth, saying, "You'd better keep your word."

The carriage traveled swiftly along the path until it came to a stop as the sky was bathed in the glow of the setting sun.

"Get down!" The driver lifted the carriage curtain.

Su Ruanruan was lost in thought in the carriage and didn't pay attention to the scenery around her.

After getting off the carriage, I discovered that I was in a desolate cemetery, and not far away, a magnificent carriage was parked out of the way.

When the people in the car lifted the curtain, she finally saw that somewhat familiar figure.

Su Ruanruan's pupils contracted slightly, and she exclaimed in disbelief, "How could it be you!"

"It's me, we meet again."

He looked Su Ruanruan up and down, and indeed she was a first-class beauty, just as depicted in the painting.

He hadn't even noticed before! He never imagined that the disguise technique she used to make herself look ugly was actually the work of that person.

Su Ruanruan didn't want to get too involved with him. They knew each other, but there was no need for them to reminisce.

"Where is the purple mist?"

The man smiled and said, "I've put her back. She's probably almost at the border of Qingshan County by now."

Su Ruanruan stared at him, "How can I trust you?"

"Well, we've known each other for a while now, so I still have some integrity..."

“If I kill her, you will resent me, and how can you then work for us?”

He added, "I never expected you to value a maid so much; I guess I made the right bet."

A cold smile appeared on Su Ruanruan's lips. "You're only half right. I really don't know what you want me to do, but where do you get the confidence that I'll become a puppet that you can manipulate at will?"

After speaking, Su Ruanruan swiftly pulled a gleaming silver hairpin from her sleeve and stabbed it fiercely into the man's chest like a gust of wind.

However, he gripped her wrist tightly like an iron clamp, and at the same time, he slapped her shoulder hard. Su Ruanruan staggered back several steps, still clutching the hairpin tightly in her hand.
