Chapter 191 Double the Repayment

Caught completely off guard, Huo Yan arrived like a god of death. He traveled day and night, and even the fierce wind seemed to sense the intense killing intent emanating from his master, as if he were a war god returning from the battlefield, full of fighting spirit, chasing the sun, moon, and stars.

Two days later, Huo Yan finally met Chu Ran on his way home.

He leaped off his horse like a demon from hell. Chu Ran's guards immediately sensed something was wrong and quickly stepped forward, blocking the carriage like an impenetrable wall.

Huo Yan brandished his longsword, its silver light flashing like a silver dragon soaring into the sky, or a shooting star streaking across the heavens. The Black-Faced God, dispatched by the Prince of Zhennan, was not present. Chu Ran's guards knew they were no match for Huo Yan, but they still went forth without hesitation, giving it their all.

The wind howled, like the wailing of demons, like the stampede of ten thousand horses, like a whirlwind sweeping away the remaining clouds, like the autumn wind sweeping away fallen leaves.

Chu Ran huddled in the carriage, praying that his father would come quickly to save him.

Soon, the sound outside stopped. He lifted a corner of the carriage curtain to look out, only to see that all his guards had been killed.

Before he could retract his hand, a long whip, whipped with a gust of wind, struck Chu Ran's face.

"Ah!" He slid off his seat, feeling a sharp pain in his head. His jade crown shattered, and his hair fell down, making him look like a madman.

The next instant, a large hand gripped his neck tightly and dragged him off the carriage.

"Did you have Su Ruanruan kidnapped?"

Through his disheveled hair, Chu Ran saw Huo Yan's bloodshot eyes, those murderous glints in his eyes that truly wanted to kill him.

Chu Ran's face turned ashen, a ghastly shade of liver.

"Stop!" the Prince of Zhennan shouted as his horse galloped on.

Huo Yan glanced at him only once before throwing Chu Ran to the ground like a rag doll.

She stomped on his heart again, "I'll ask you one more time, did you have Su Ruanruan kidnapped?"

Chu Ran wailed and reached out to her father for help.

"Let my son go!"

Huo Yan pointed his sword directly at Chu Ran's throat. "Prince Zhennan, if you take another step forward, I will kill him immediately."

The Prince of Zhennan was furious. If the conflict between their two factions had been kept secret before, it was now being brought into the open.

He underestimated this reckless man, which is why he suffered a setback in the mine.

He said, "My son returned from his travels in the Northwest and has been under my watchful eye ever since. He has not done anything out of line."

"I don't know who you're talking about. Please release my son."

"You have wantonly slaughtered innocent people. Is there no law left? I will report you to His Majesty upon my return to the capital!"

Huo Yan curled his lips, "Innocent? Anyone in this world can claim to be innocent, except for you and your son."

"How many corpses are buried in the mine? When you and your son wake up in the middle of the night, can you still sleep soundly?"

The Prince of Zhennan laughed heartily, "So what if you know I'm the one behind it all? You're just making baseless accusations; everyone will just think you're framing me. What can you do about it?"

"I'll ask you one more time, will you release my son or not?"

Huo Zheng tilted his head and said, "I'm going to take your son's life!"

"Whether he took my woman or not, I want him dead. He had previously coveted my woman and almost killed her. Now I'm just seeking revenge."

Seeing Huo Yan's sword tremble slightly, the Prince of Zhennan was terrified and shouted, "No!"

Behind them, Su Zhen, who was vomiting uncontrollably from rushing to get there, hurriedly jumped off the carriage and ran over.

He gasped for breath and said, "Stop! If you stab me with that sword, even His Majesty can't save you!"

Huo Yan glared at Su Zhen, indignantly saying, "Do you know what this beast did? She almost ruined Ruan Ruan!"

Su Zhen never expected this to happen. He angrily kicked Chu Ran, who was lying on the ground like a maggot, and said anxiously, "Now is not the time to deal with these things. The most urgent thing is to find Ruan Ruan first."

The Prince of Zhennan clenched his fists, feigning ignorance of Su Ruanruan's existence and identity. He said sternly, "Duke Su, Miss Qingyu is about to marry Prince Rui. You are her father, and I am Prince Rui's maternal uncle. How can you side with an outsider?"

Su Zhen snorted and retorted, "Who's family with you? If Jingyi hadn't taken it upon herself to decide, I wouldn't be related to someone like you. Now that my biological daughter is still alive, if we're talking about family, I'm closer to Huo Yan."

The Prince of Zhennan narrowed his eyes and said with a forced smile, "Oh? Your daughter is still alive? Where is she now? As an elder, I should prepare some gifts for my niece whom I have never met."

Thinking of his missing daughter, Su Zhen kicked Chu Ran hard again and demanded, "Did you kidnap my daughter or not?"

Chu Ran, panting heavily, replied fiercely, "I've never seen... Su Ruanruan. But you'd better pray I find her first, otherwise I will absolutely not let her go!"

"You're asking for death!" Huo Yan twisted his wrist, and with a scream, blood streamed down Chu Ran's eye, rendering it completely useless.

"Ah, my son!" The Prince of Zhennan rushed forward, pointing his finger at Huo Yan, his anger barely contained. "I must... I must impeach you before His Majesty and make His Majesty uphold justice for my son."

Huo Yan took out a handkerchief and gently wiped the blood off the sword. Then he threw the handkerchief at Chu Ran's crotch and said coldly, "If you can't control your lower body again, I'll cripple it next time."

He turned and left, mounted his horse, and continued his search for Su Ruanruan.

"Sigh..." Su Zhen glanced at the gloomy-faced Prince Zhennan, then climbed into the carriage and left.

Chu Ran wailed in pain, clutching his ruined eyes, "Father, you just let them leave like this?"
