Chapter 200 No Need to Persuade Anymore

As she walked past a pastry shop, Su Ruanruan suddenly stopped, her gaze fixed on the familiar figure who came out of it.

Wei Zheng also saw Su Ruanruan. He smiled warmly and greeted her, "Miss Su, it's been a long time!"

Su Ruanruan was naturally familiar with Wei Zheng; the two had known each other for a long time.

Wei Zheng sighed softly and said earnestly, "Miss Su, I know everything about you and Huo Yan. To be honest, I really feel sorry for you. You two were so close back then, how could things have come to this?"

At this point, Wei Zheng paused, a hint of regret in his eyes. Then he continued, "Actually, many people don't know that back in Qingshan County, some people said you were unlucky, but every time Huo Yan used his fists to drive away those gossipy people. From then on, no one dared to talk about you like that anymore."

Wei Zheng became more and more excited as he spoke, and his voice rose slightly. "Moreover, he did much more for you than that. He silently sacrificed a lot for you, but he's not good with words and never brings it up himself."

“I can see that he really likes you. So, Miss Su, can you please consider our past relationship and try to make it work with him? Don’t say any more hurtful things.”

Su Ruanruan didn't seem to want to talk about this topic. She turned around and prepared to leave after revealing a slight smile at the corners of her mouth.

Seeing this, Wei Zheng quickly reached out to stop her, his face full of a smile, "Grandma, what's wrong with you now? Why are you suddenly angry?"

After saying that, he took out a bag of exquisite pastries and handed it to Su Ruanruan, and continued, "It's all my fault for making you unhappy. This is my apology."

"I have something to do, so I'll be going now," Su Ruanruan replied calmly, still not stopping.

"Oh dear, my poor little nephew is sick and is crying and begging to see me. I have to hurry over and comfort him." Wei Zheng said as he stuffed the pastries into her arms.

Su Ruanruan, who originally intended to ignore Wei Zheng, involuntarily paused when she heard the words "sick".

Finally, she called out to Wei Zheng, who was about to leave, "Wait! You just said... your nephew is sick? I know a little about medicine, maybe I can help. Take me to see him."

Wei Zheng scrutinized her from head to toe with suspicion, his mind racing. "Are you sure you can do it? My nephew has been sick for a while now. We've seen several doctors and he's taken a lot of medicine, but he's not getting better. Are you really confident you can cure him?" His eyes were filled with worry.

Faced with Wei Zheng's doubts, Su Ruanruan did not back down and said softly, "How will you know if you don't try? Perhaps I have a way to cure your little nephew."

At this point, she couldn't help but lower her head and sigh softly. She was short of money, and if she didn't take on this job, Ziwu and Bairuan would probably continue to go hungry.

In fact, besides being forced by life's circumstances, Su Ruanruan's heart was also touched when she learned that the sick person was a child.

After Wei Zheng had the steward take Zi Wu to the side hall, he personally led Su Ruanruan inside.

Before they even reached the flower hall, they could already hear the child's loud cries. The cries echoed through the quiet courtyard, stirring feelings of pity in everyone.

Upon entering the flower hall, I saw the child's mother sitting in a chair, gently patting her crying child in her arms, while anxiously asking, "How is it?"

The doctor withdrew his fingers from the child's wrist and said slowly, "Young master's pulse is rapid and weak, his complexion is pale, he is sensitive to wind and cold, and the phlegm he coughs up is thin and white. In my opinion, this is likely a cold-induced asthma attack caused by seasonal changes in weather."

Su Ruanruan stood quietly behind Wei Zheng. Hearing this, she suddenly let out a sneer, "Hmph, what a quack doctor!"

Just then, the four-year-old child happened to see Wei Zheng. He immediately stopped crying, a hint of grievance appearing on his tear-streaked face, and rushed towards him, "Uncle, hug me."

Wei Zheng placed the pastries on the table and quickly took the child from his sister's arms. "My poor Zhang'er, why is he still not well? It really breaks my heart."

The beautiful woman beside him stroked the child's head tenderly, then looked at the beautiful woman standing next to Wei Zheng, "This is..."

Wei Zheng said, "Sister, this is Miss Su."

Wei Jia suddenly realized that the events of the past few days had spread throughout the streets and alleys, and even though she had been staying in the deep courtyard, she had heard rumors about her.

This girl is so beautiful and charming, but she has such a tragic background. It's really a pity!

With a warm and friendly smile, Wei Jia quickly stepped forward, took Su Ruanruan's hand, and said, "Oh dear! Your hands are so cold, they must be frozen! Come on in and warm yourself up."

Wei Jia personally pulled Su Ruanruan to sit down on a chair, and then turned to instruct the maid beside him to quickly brew a cup of hot tea and serve it to the guest.

After everything was arranged, Wei Jia asked softly, "Miss Su, could you tell me why you spoke of this doctor in that way?"

Su Ruanruan smiled slightly and replied, "Madam, to be honest, I grew up in the countryside. I had a very good friend in the village. His father was a doctor in our village, and I learned a lot from him. Later, I was fortunate enough to learn to read and write, and I also read many medical classics. So I have some knowledge of some common diseases."
