Chapter 6 Heartbeat

Mu Bai gasped for breath in the courtyard, trying to calm himself down. Once he had calmed down, he turned and went to the kitchen, only to find that the brown sugar water was almost gone and he couldn't drink it anymore.

Feeling a little disappointed, I was about to go find some more brown sugar when I bumped into Ruan Ruan who came in.

"Brother Mu Bai, what are you doing in the kitchen?"

“I was worried you’d be hungry, so I made some food and kept it warm on the stove. Are you hungry? I’ll serve you some.”

Su Ruanruan pulled him back, "I'm not hungry."

She pointed to the dark bottom of the pot and asked, "What are you cooking?"

"I……"

Su Ruanruan blinked and looked at him curiously.

But Mu Bai didn't know how to start the conversation.

"What's wrong? Is there anything we can't talk about?"

Su Ruanruan felt a pang of sadness, and as she thought of the past, tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

"Ruanruan, why are you crying? It's my fault. I shouldn't have done that to you."

"No, it's none of your business."

Su Ruanruan smiled sweetly, revealing her neat and white teeth.

She tiptoed and placed a kiss on his fair cheek.

Mu Bai's expression froze as he looked at that dazzling smile, a gentle ripple stirring in his heart.

The burning kiss made her heart feel like it was being cooked in oil.
