Su Ruanruan closed her eyes, suppressing the sorrow in her heart.
That year, amidst thunder and lightning and torrential rain, my mother lay in a pool of blood, crying out, "You're all I have left, please don't leave me..."
But all she could hear was the sound of rain, wind, thunder, and her crying.
As the puppy lay dying, her tears soaked large sections of her sleeves. She cradled its tiny body, wailing, "Don't go, you're all I have left..."
But it gradually stopped breathing in her arms.

The person who held her tightly in his arms trembled slightly.
Su Ruanruan could feel his grief; Mu Bai was just like she was back then.
Is he really that reluctant to part with her?
Yao Yutong stood at the door, her fingernails digging fiercely into her flesh.
She really made a fool of herself today; she tried to be all smiles but was still not appreciated.

Mu Bai shook his head, "Fang Ru won't ignore me. I'll apologize to him after I recover."
Mu Bai took Su Ruanruan's hand, their fingers intertwined, and led her back to the courtyard.
Back in the courtyard, Mu Bai pointed to a small dog lazily basking in the sun.
"Ruan Ruan, do you like it?"
Su Ruanruan looked in the direction the finger was pointing and saw a small dog, all white with a spot on its bottom, licking one of its little paws.
Its obsidian-like eyes sparkled, and it stopped moving when it saw someone looking over.
It tilted its head to look at Su Ruanruan, then stuck out its pink little tongue and ran over to Su Ruanruan with its short legs, rubbing against her feet again and again.
At this moment, Su Ruanruan's heart melted. Who could resist the temptation of such an adorable creature?
She immediately picked up the little guy and stroked its fluffy little head.
"Ruan Ruan, it likes you very much."
"Yes, I like it too." Su Ruanruan smiled sweetly, making Mu Bai's heart flutter.
How did you know I like puppies?
“I heard you talking in your sleep that day.” Mu Bai also reached out and patted the puppy’s head.
"So, you were still recovering from a cold, and you fell into the water to save it? You're really stupid."
Mu Bai coughed twice, covering his mouth. "If I don't save it, it will die, and I can't bear to do that. It's still a little life, and you like it too. Even if it gets sick, it's worth it."

She went to the tofu shop and asked the shop assistant to go to the market to buy some fresh vegetables, a chicken, and a fish.
Carrying these things out of the tofu shop, Su Ruanruan made sure no one was following her before returning to her courtyard.
Because she needed to avoid Butcher Zhou, she rarely appeared in the market. She even had her assistant follow Butcher Zhou, and she stayed far away from any alley or shop he frequented.

She fed Bai Ruan some more rice porridge. The little one was full and curled up under the table, closing her eyes.
Su Ruanruan showed no intention of leaving until the sun began to set.
On the bed, Mu Bai leaned against the soft cushions, watching Su Ruanruan sitting upright at his desk, diligently practicing calligraphy—all the characters he had taught her.
After thinking it over several times, I couldn't help but ask, "Ruan Ruan, tonight..."
