Chapter 64 Don't Leave Me

Su Ruanruan's fingertips paused slightly, her gentle gaze instantly turning cold. "Why do you insist on marrying me? If you insist on doing this, then I'll leave now and never speak to you again..."

"No...no!" Mu Bai's reddened eyes were tinged with moisture.

Her fair fingers gently tugged at Su Ruanruan's sleeve.

She murmured again, "Ruan Ruan, don't leave me."

Su Ruanruan stroked Mu Bai's cheek.

"Once you pass the imperial examination and go to the capital for the final exam, you will most likely never return."

"Can I have this time in Qingshan County? I'll leave you with me."

Mu Bai looked into Su Ruanruan's eyes, which were sparkling with tiny, flowing light, and felt a pang of sadness in his heart.

Okay, from now on, he will never mention it again.

He must study hard, pass the imperial examinations, and marry her in a grand and glorious way.

Thinking this to himself, Mu Bai blinked his sore eyes and nodded in response to Su Ruanruan's expectant gaze.

Su Ruanruan finally breathed a sigh of relief; the little puppy was finally hers.

“My dear Mu Bai, you must remember that in Qingshan County, only I am good to you.”

"I'm the only woman who truly cares about you. Don't believe what they say, okay?"

A hot breath tickled my ear, and seductive words brushed against my heart like feathers, sending shivers down my spine.

Mu Bai's eyelashes trembled slightly. "Okay."

Su Ruanruan smiled and kissed Mu Bai's forehead. "Be good, I'll go make you some medicine."

That night, Su Ruanruan squeezed next to Mu Bai again.

Mu Bai said, "Ruan Ruan, I'm afraid I'll pass on the illness to you. You rest in bed, I'll go..."

"Where are you going? To sleep on the floor? You're not fully recovered yet, you can't catch a cold again."

Su Ruanruan smiled sweetly, "But if it were me sleeping on the floor, you would definitely feel bad. Since neither of us can sleep on the floor, why don't we rest together in bed? Besides, this bed is quite spacious, and you're sick, so I... won't do anything to you."

Mu Bai's ears turned slightly red. This bed is very spacious, but Ruan Ruan, don't you know that you're a restless sleeper?

Thinking of the night they slept in the same bed, Mu Bai pursed his lips.

The next moment, a soft, boneless little hand wrapped around his waist.

A little head also burrowed into his armpit.

“Brother Mu Bai, don’t worry about getting infected. When I was making medicine for you, I secretly drank a bowl myself. It’s better to be safe than sorry.”

Ruanruan, do you like me?

These words were stuck in Mu Bai's throat, but he didn't have the courage to ask them.

Bai Ruan stretched under the table. Opening her big, round eyes, she found Mu Bai and Su Ruanruan huddled in the blankets.

It shivered, and with its short legs and wagging tail, it ran over.

It tilted its head back and whimpered at the two people on the bed.

She looked like an abandoned baby.

Its appearance amused Mu Bai, and the laughter affected his whole body, causing him to cough a few times.

Hearing him cough, Bai Ruan curled up into a ball, tilting her little head to look at him.

Mu Bai carried it to the bed.

The little guy was extremely excited, rubbing against them until he finally found a comfortable spot.

She rolled over, revealing her snow-white belly, and drifted off to sleep sweetly again.

After dinner, Su Ruanruan gave it a bath, and now it smells faintly of soap.

Su Ruanruan nestled in Mu Bai's arms, tilted her head up, and planted another kiss on his cheek.

"Thank you, Brother Mu Bai. Good night, sweet dreams!"

A moment later, Su Ruanruan's soft, long breaths came from his arms.

Mu Bai, however, felt no sleepiness whatsoever. He was afraid that if he closed his eyes and woke up again, everything that belonged to him would disappear.

He held Su Ruanruan's hand tightly, feeling the warmth from her palm, and his restless heart gradually calmed down.

Su Ruanruan slept soundly that night, but Mu Bai couldn't sleep at all, as she hugged him tightly all night.

Sunlight streamed in through the window.

Su Ruanruan opened her eyes, and her soft, pink tongue licked her face, making her feel tingly and itchy.

"Don't be silly, little thing." She reached out and stroked its soft fur.

Looking at the spot next to him, Mu Bai was nowhere to be seen.

When he came out of the house, he could already smell the aroma of the food on the table.

The porridge was millet porridge, along with a cucumber salad and stir-fried bok choy with garlic.

Su Ruanruan took a few more steps toward the kitchen and saw Mu Bai busy at the stove, placing a few freshly steamed buns on a plate.

The rising steam made his fair face look like a ripe peach, and Su Ruanruan's heart pounded.

I really want to pinch that little face and take a bite.

"Brother Mu Bai."

Su Ruanruan called out sweetly, her voice as gentle as water and as melodious as a song.

Hearing the soft voice lingering in his ears, Mu Bai almost dropped the steamed bun in his hand.

"Ruan Ruan, go wash up and come eat. I overslept today, and at this hour, we don't even know if this counts as breakfast or lunch," Mu Bai said with a smile.

"Okay, sure." Su Ruanruan was about to go to the side room to wash up.

"Knock knock knock..."

There was a knock at the door. Su Ruanruan saw that Mu Bai was still busy in the kitchen, so she went to open the door.

When she peeked through the crack in the door, she saw only a corner of a peach-colored dress.

There's no need to guess; you know who's outside the door.

Su Ruanruan smiled slyly. If she couldn't get rid of you, she would at least make you feel disgusted.

...

She opened the courtyard gate and poked half her body out.

Sure enough, Yao Yutong and her maid Xiaolian were standing outside the door. The maid was carrying a food box, which she had bought early in the morning from somewhere.

"Miss Yao, are you here to see Brother Mu Bai?"

As the door swung open, Yao Yutong quickly forced a smile. She had dressed up carefully, wearing a hairpin adorned with intertwined branches and flowers, and her dress, as beautiful as peach blossoms, made her even more radiant. Even her grandfather was struck by her beauty.

She refused to believe that with her looks, any normal man would be attracted to her, and she refused to believe that Mu Bai could remain unmoved.

But when she saw who was standing at the door, Yao Yutong's smile froze again. Why was it her again?

Su Ruanruan asked that question, but Yao Yutong didn't respond, and she didn't take it to heart.

Her maid, Xiaolian, gripped the food box tightly in her hand, her tone unfriendly, "Does my young lady need to explain to you where she goes and who she visits? Get out of the way! You really think you're the mistress."

Su Ruanruan wasn't angry and prepared to let them in through the doorway.

With a simple outstretched hand, she cried out, "Oops!" and the handkerchief in her hand accidentally fell to the ground.

She quickly bent down to pick it up, her outer garment tilting slightly to reveal half of her not-so-smooth shoulder.

But upon closer inspection, some red marks were found on the shoulder.

Yao Yutong was slightly taken aback. This was...

But when she realized what those marks were, her expression was as colorful as if a palette of paint had been spilled.
