Chapter 84 is fucking adorable!

Huo Yan didn't even look up; he opened his purse and flicked it with his fingers.

A cold smile curled at the corner of his lips. "Eight ounces? You think I can't count?"

"roll!"

The drunkard burped, looking puzzled.

He was the manager of the rice shop, and he had handled a lot of silver; how could he possibly make a mistake?

His scrutinizing gaze fell on Huo Yan's face. Could it be that he wanted to take it all for himself?

When their eyes met, Huo Yan caught the doubt in his eyes.

Just then, Niu Mang came out of a steamed bun shop, carrying several fragrant meat buns wrapped in oil paper.

He also spotted Huo Yan over there at a glance.

There was no way around it; his older brother was so tall and imposing that it was impossible not to see him.

"Brother, what are you doing here?"

"Brother, why haven't you gone back yet?"

Huo Yan raised his chin. "Here, take him back! Interrogate him thoroughly."

"Interrogate what?" Niu Mang opened his mouth, good heavens, he had already finished his shift, how did he get dragged back by his boss?

I should have slipped away earlier.

The drunkard looked bewildered. "Sir, what...what have I done wrong?"

"It is truly despicable to take what belongs to others and claim it as your own. Go to jail to sober up first, and we will release you after we have investigated whether you have committed any other crimes."

Niu Mang blinked. What kind of crime was this? He had never heard of it before.

What exactly did this guy do to offend the boss?

And what's with Su Ruanruan? Why is she here too?

Huo Yan didn't give him a chance to think and took the oil paper package from his hand.

He said coldly, "Go now!"

Niu Mang's hand was suddenly empty, and he curled his lip in disapproval.

"Oh." He carried the drunkard away like a chick.

All that remained were echoes of cries for justice.

Su Ruanruan lowered her eyes and stared at her toes.

I really don't understand what this scoundrel is up to.

He wouldn't lock her up too, would he?

Then they would keep the silver in the purse for themselves?

If he didn't usually solicit bribes or collude with others, how could he be so rich?

"Hey, I'm asking you!"

Su Ruanruan suddenly looked up, "Wh...what?"

Huo Yan glanced at her with a deep look in his eyes, then stepped into a shop and sat down.

Seeing Su Ruanruan standing there in a daze, looking at him with confused eyes.

"Su Ruanruan, come here!"

Su Ruanruan didn't move. She didn't want to be alone with him at all, fearing that he might do something indecisive again.

Huo Yan tossed the purse onto the table and raised an eyebrow at her.

Su Ruanruan suddenly realized that he must have seen the purse that had fallen to the ground.

He knew it was her purse.

If it's her own property, she doesn't need it.

However, she had to get Mu Bai's things back.

Su Ruanruan walked over in a few steps and sat down opposite him.

He cut to the chase, saying, "You know this purse is mine, please give it back to me."

Huo Yan opened the oil paper package in his hand and handed Su Ruanruan a soft, fragrant steamed bun.

Su Ruanruan glanced at it, then looked away.

He didn't reach out to take it.

Huo Yan glanced at Su Ruanruan, then withdrew his hand from mid-air and fed the bun to himself.

Su Ruanruan sniffed, "It smells so good."

She suddenly felt hungry.

Huo Yan noticed Su Ruanruan swallowing, and raised an eyebrow.

He pushed the oil paper package towards her again.

Su Ruanruan's stomach growled at an inopportune moment, making her so embarrassed she felt like she could dig out a three-bedroom, two-living-room house.

How embarrassing!

“It’s not poisonous,” Huo Yan said.

Su Ruanruan thought for a moment, then reached out and took a steamed bun.

"Thanks!"

She lowered her head and ate in small bites.

Huo Yan calmly observed Su Ruanruan, who was quietly eating across from him.

He then realized that although she wasn't particularly pretty, she had long, thick eyelashes and a small, delicate nose.

Her lips were rosy, glistening with meat juices, glistening and translucent.

Just then, Su Ruanruan stuck out a small section of her pink tongue and licked the corner of her lips.

This scene...

So damn cute!

The image of kissing her lips earlier today involuntarily flashed through my mind...

Buzz~

Huo Yan suddenly snapped out of his daze. What the hell? He actually found her cute?

He stared at Su Ruanruan for several more times, even though she was so dark-skinned and ugly.

And so annoying.

Just then, Su Ruanruan finished eating her steamed bun and was wiping her mouth when she looked up and saw Huo Yan's disgusted expression.

Su Ruanruan: ……

It's just that I ate one of your steamed buns. Is it really that big of a deal?

"Is this purse Mu Bai's?"

Su Ruanruan nodded honestly.

"So, can you give it back to me now?"

Huo Yan tossed the purse into her arms and sneered, "He's quite generous, giving you his entire fortune."

Su Ruanruan ignored him, opened her purse, and saw that the heart-shaped stone was still there, so she was relieved.

Having gotten what she wanted, Su Ruanruan didn't want to stay any longer.

I got up to say goodbye.

Huo Yan spoke coolly from behind.

"When are you going to pay me back the money you owe me? Just because I'm not pressuring you doesn't mean you can shirk your responsibility..."

Su Ruanruan sighed, realizing she couldn't avoid it any longer. She took out six taels of silver from her purse and placed it on the table.

Fearing he might find it too little, she put down the silver and quickly slipped away.

Huo Yan shook his head, a hint of regret in his voice.

This scholar is really foolish. He knew perfectly well that Su Ruanruan was playing with his feelings, yet he still handed over all the money he had painstakingly saved to her.

He had seen him write letters for the poor for free, and he had also seen him give away the coins he had just earned to beggars on the roadside.
