Chapter 4 What kind of skill is it to bully women?

Compared to going to jail, what's a little shame?

"I'll ask you one more time, where exactly did the thing go?"

Huo Yan's brows and eyes were once again clouded with dark clouds, making the sky darken and Su Ruanruan shiver.

Her almond-shaped eyes, misty with tears, were filled with grievance, but she still stubbornly shook her head. "I didn't see it. As the saying goes, to catch a thief, you need to catch him red-handed. You say I took your things, but did you see them? On the contrary, you hid the copper coins in my purse on your waist."

Su Ruanruan clenched her fists tightly; this man's eyes were terrifying.

It felt like he was going to skin her alive; she didn't dare look him in the eye.

Niu Mang paused for a moment, then, as if possessed, took a few steps closer to Huo Yan, reached out and touched Huo Yan's waist. Sure enough, he found a tattered pouch containing a string of copper coins strung on a red cord.

He looked awkwardly at the copper coin in his hand, feeling as if it were a hot potato.

I blame myself for being so impulsive. I wanted to clear my brother's name, but I ended up making things worse.

Even Jin Yu, who was standing to the side, was dumbfounded.

Su Ruanruan smiled and said, "Hmph, I've witnessed a good show of the thief crying 'stop thief' today."

Huo Yan was slightly taken aback at first, but then he laughed in exasperation.

He had truly underestimated this woman; she had hidden the copper coins on his person, and he hadn't even noticed.

The tall, burly man gave a cold laugh, and even the scars on his face trembled.

Su Ruanruan's heart skipped a beat, and she took a few steps back.

The man's dark eyes seemed to gleam with an eerie light, like a vicious wolf eyeing its prey.

Su Ruanruan really regretted provoking such a terrifying person.

"You two get out!"

Knowing that Huo Yan was completely enraged, Niu Mang and Jin Yu didn't dare to stay any longer. After giving Su Ruanruan a look that said "good luck to you," they hurriedly scrambled out.

Oh no, I'm going to die!

Su Ruanruan was relentlessly pursued by Huo Yan. With each step she took back, he would take a step forward, until he pinned her against the wall, leaving her with nowhere to retreat.

Su Ruanruan was terrified. Looking at his clenched fist, she thought that the sledgehammer could probably crush her to death in one blow.

She raised her head, her eyes glistening with tears, and looked timidly at Huo Yan. "Sir, I really didn't take your gems. I'm telling the truth. Please believe me!"

Huo Yan ignored her words, raised his hand and grabbed her slender neck. With just a light pinch, her life would be over.

His icy voice rang in her ear, "Whether you took it or not is not up to you. You said you'd catch a thief red-handed, but how can I know if you've hidden it on your person if I don't check? If it's not on you, I'll just consider it interest."

These words were like a thunderclap in a clear sky, making Su Ruanruan gasp in shock.

It was as if they already knew their fate.

With his other hand, he had already grabbed her sash. Su Ruanruan was both ashamed and angry. "You bastard, you've wronged me. Why can't I frame you? These few copper coins are all I have. They're as important as your dagger. I'll let you know what it feels like to be wronged."

She even raised her weak, boneless little hand to slap Huo Yan in one eye, but he grabbed it.

Seeing the anger on the other person's face intensify, Su Ruanruan really panicked.

"Give me a chance, I'll go find it myself, maybe..."

Before she could finish speaking, Huo Yan had already picked her up and strode outside.

Su Ruanruan was thrown out like a rag doll. With this fall, she felt as if her whole body had fallen apart, and she even twisted her ankle, which was burning with pain.

With a back injury and a foot injury, Su Ruanruan was truly on the verge of tears.

"If you can't find it, don't blame me for being rude!"

"oh."

Despite the pain, she carefully searched along the path she had taken, leaving no stone unturned, until she reached the riverbank.

They stirred the water for a long time, but found nothing.

Looking at the slowly flowing stream, Su Ruanruan looked like a deflated eggplant.

If the gemstone really did fall into the water, it would have been washed away to somewhere else by now.

While she was still searching, Huo Yan had already decided to return to the city, regardless of how scorching the sun was overhead.

"Take the female victim from inside the house, put her in the prison cart, and then tie her up."

Before Su Ruanruan could react, a constable approached her with a rope and, without a word, bound her hands tightly together.

"Give me some time, I can go into the water..."

"Shut up!" Huo Yan mounted his horse and grabbed the other end of the rope.

He raised his whip and struck the horse's rump. The horse, in pain, neighed and galloped forward.

"ah……"

Su Ruanruan's face turned pale instantly. She lifted her foot, enduring the pain, and started jogging. But after only a few steps, the pain in her ankle spread throughout her body, and she quickly couldn't keep up.

He was pulled by the horse in front of him, fell to the ground, and was forced to move forward.

"It hurts...it hurts...please, let me go!"

Huo Yan ignored her pleas for help.

The parts of my body that were touching the ground were burning with pain.

Su Ruanruan cursed, "You son of a bitch, what kind of skill is it to bully a woman?"

Jin Yu couldn't bear it any longer, so he hurriedly caught up with him. "Brother, she'll die if this continues. Judging from her appearance, she's probably not lying. I'll leave a few brothers behind to search some more."

Huo Yan looked ahead without saying a word, but slowed down. In Jin Yu's view, this was tacit approval.

He knew that no matter how angry his elder brother was, he wouldn't risk a human life.

He dismounted, took out the sword and knife from his side, and squatted down to cut the rope.

Freed from her shackles, Su Ruanruan finally stopped, weakly raising her head to look at the man before her.
