Foolish Gathering

Foolish Gathering

A week of school has passed quickly.

As usual, Yuko enrolled in an extracurricular tutoring class again.

As a member of the "Homebound Club," she didn't participate in any clubs. Fortunately, the school didn't have a mandatory club participation rule, and grades were extremely important to Yuko. Because she was afraid of being ridiculed, Yuko never told anyone that she had always had one goal in mind: to get into the medical school at the University of Tokyo.

To achieve this goal, you need exceptionally high grades.

But recently her grades have slipped a bit. Yuko doesn't think it's because of her friends; she just thinks it's because she hasn't worked hard enough.

She couldn't let her friends down, nor could she slack off on her studies. So Yuko decided to sacrifice her TV time, and even when she went on dates with Nono and Emma on weekends, she would use flashcards to memorize English words.

That's how people are; if their friends are working hard, they can't help but be motivated. Although Nono and Emma weren't particularly ambitious about studying, they didn't want to be lazy, so they started bringing homework or books with them when they met. As long as you put in the effort, you'll definitely reap the rewards. The results were significant; during the midterm exams, Yuko climbed from the top 40 to the top 10, and seeing her 7th place ranking, she couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

This good mood lasted until they went to Shibuya for okonomiyaki after their cram school class. Nono and the others could also tell that Yuko was in a good mood.

Emma exclaimed, "Is it really that fun?"

Yuko nodded, her eyes crinkling with a smile: "Yes, it feels great to get a reward for your hard work."

Emma and Ye Ye did very well on their exams, which was worth the time they put in.

Nono, who was looking down at her phone, suddenly slammed it down. She looked up and her expression was exactly the same as when she first asked Yuko to go to the matchmaking event: "Yuko, do you want to go see the idiot gathering later?"

Yuko: ?

This is truly a grand spectacle.

Dozens of men dressed in black special forces uniforms, each with a unique hairstyle, were gathered together, their loud chatter making it feel like a duck farm, accompanied by the cacophony of motorcycles—it was utter chaos. Several girls were also present, besides Yuko; fair-skinned beauties and dark-skinned beauties stood in groups.

Yuko was probably the most simply dressed person there. Her school uniform was unchanged, her long, straight black hair was cut straight, and her dignified and beautiful posture stood out from the noisy environment. But because of this, she was also the most eye-catching. Her clean temperament and pure and moving appearance made her look like a white crane standing among a flock of birds in the crowd.

"This is really a headache." Yuko was still carrying a bag of snacks.

"What's wrong? By the way, Xiaoyou, are you taking the food you bought home? Eating sweets too late can cause indigestion." Emma thoughtfully reminded her, after all, there are two super sweet tooths in the family, especially Mikey, who has had stomach aches from eating before.

Yuko shook her head: "No, I heard Nono say that we were going to a gathering of fools, and I thought it was a movie or something. I bought these to use when we go to the movies."

Nono paused for two seconds before bursting into laughter: "Pfft, Yuko, you really are the best."

Emma found it unbelievable: "I've always felt this way, Xiaoyou, are you just naturally dense?"

"No way!" Yuko puffed out her cheeks, took out a box of three tea dumplings from the bag, took a bite, and the sweet red bean paste and refreshing green tea immediately made Yuko fall in love with the delicious dumplings.

Seeing Yuko eating with such a happy expression, Nono and Emma said they wanted some too.

Yuko ate her tea dumplings slowly, chewing as she curiously observed everyone. She thought everyone was very imaginative, from the oddly modified motorcycles to the brightly colored hair, completely different from the uniformly dressed and serious adults in the police station. But she didn't dare to stare directly, only glancing over casually.

"Yuko~ It really is you, I told you so." Ichigo was the first to spot Yuko, and he upgraded his address as well, pulling the crowd along as they came over.

"City-kun, Ichigo-kun," Yuko greeted them politely.

"Ye Ye, why did you bring this guy here?" The venue's impolite words were met with an equally impolite retort from Ye Ye.

"Hehe~" She covered her mouth with her hand and said in a condescending tone, "I brought Yuko here to watch the fun, you know what I mean, like a parent taking their child to the zoo to see gorillas."

"That's too much." Yi Hu was also a cunning guy. He pretended to be sad and said, "Ye Ye, you actually called our field a gorilla. Be careful, the field gorilla might go berserk."

Ye Ye and Yi Hu are unbeatable when they team up to bully people. Poor Changchang is clumsy and honest, but he's never been one to rely on words.

In an instant, he locked one of them in each arm, binding the two unscrupulous guys tightly. One of them, Yihu, was so tightly bound that he was almost suffocating, yet he could still laugh. Yeye, on the other hand, was yelling, "I'm going to die! I'm going to die! I was wrong! I was wrong!"

Yuko was a ruthless bystander at this moment, and even sighed that their relationship was really good.

"It's so noisy over here, what's going on?" Draken, who had come over after hearing the noise, greeted Yuko, "Hey, Yuko."

"Hello, Draken-kun." Yuko quickly returned the greeting, but she didn't know him well and didn't know what to say. After thinking for a while, she said, "Draken-kun has grown taller again."

Draken, his lips twitching, asked, "Are you my elder?"

Yuko's face instantly turned bright red.

"Haha, you've grown taller again, Ken." Mikey appeared from behind Draken with amusement.

To ease the awkwardness and express her apology, Yuko opened the bag she was carrying, took out a dorayaki, and said to Draken with a slightly flushed face, "Draken-kun, would you like some?"

Mikey was quicker to act than Draken. He took the dorayaki without ceremony, unwrapped it, and said, "Thank you, thank you. I was just hungry."

Yuko was a little dazed, but it was okay, she had two more. So Yuko took another one out of the bag and was about to hand it to Draken when Mikey snatched it away.

"Are you that hungry?" Draken asked helplessly. He didn't have a big fondness for sweets, so he didn't mind Mikey taking them away.

His upbringing made him more mature than his peers. Draken gave Yuko an apologetic smile: "Yuko, don't worry about him or feel guilty. You're Emma and the others' friend, so you're our friend too." Then he turned to Emma and Nono and said, "You two need to take good care of Yuko and make sure no one bothers her."

Nono was still grappling with the ground, only making an OK sign with her hand, while Emma told Draken to stop arguing, assuring him she would take good care of Yuko.

"Kinky, the rally is about to start, stop playing around," Mikey reminded him while eating dorayaki.

“Who’s playing this?” Draken retorted.

Yuko stared thoughtfully at Draken's retreating figure. She walked over to Emma and whispered, "Draken-kun looks fierce, but he's surprisingly a good person."

“Hmm.” Emma was also looking at Draken. She felt even happier when Yuko praised him than when she herself was praised.

"What are you talking about?" Nono, who had been spared by the field and barely escaped, ran over and pounced on the two of them from behind, hanging between them.

"You're so heavy, Ye Ye, you should lose weight."

"What! Emma, you said the worst thing you could have said to a girl. I'll teach you a lesson!"

As they were playfully bickering, Yuko's gaze inadvertently fell upon Mikey, who had been walking forward, also looking at her. The two stared at each other for no more than two seconds.

How terrifying.

Those dark eyes inexplicably reminded her of a cheetah in a documentary, crouching in the jungle, poised to bite its prey's throat in the next second. Yuko instantly felt goosebumps and a chill run down her spine.
