Chapter 165 Yan Shangyu's Corner

Chapter 165 Yan Shangyu's Corner

The early morning air in the United States was chilly. In the dimly lit room, the white light from the phone illuminated Wei Yin's sharp features, but his eyes were surprisingly gentle.

"Your flight is tomorrow afternoon. Xiaotian will send you the details later. I'll pick you up when you arrive."

Yan Kui then saw the flight information sent by Assistant Tian: 9 PM.

That means I'll have to go home to get my luggage after I finish my work tomorrow afternoon, and then head to the airport.

Time was a bit tight, which was typical of Wei Yin's style.

I wish I could hang her on my phone like a pendant all the time, so I could see her every moment.

Seeing Yan Kui staring at her phone and smiling sweetly, Lan Yueyue teased, "Are you two being all lovey-dovey with your boyfriend again?"

"Speaking of which, last time I was drunk, didn't I tell you about my 18-year-old brother?"

Yan Kui felt a pang of sadness when she recalled how Wei Yin had completely subdued her that day: "He did tell me to try being eighteen too."

Lan Yueyue burst out laughing: "Hahaha, I'm just talking nonsense because I've had too much to drink, don't believe me."

"When I last met your partner, he seemed very healthy and strong. There are advantages to being older."

After saying that, he raised an eyebrow at Yan Kui twice: "Is that right?"

When Lan Yueyue talks about colors, she becomes incredibly enthusiastic, talking about everything from meat to vegetables, almost as much as Fang Tiantian.

Yan Kui didn't speak, but her reddened earlobes betrayed her.

Lan Yueyue laughed uncontrollably, as if she had discovered a new continent: "Kui Kui, you look like a master of love, how come? You're actually so innocent."

After saying that, he reached out to touch Yan Kui's reddened earlobe.

How could Yan Kui possibly accept this innocent little sister persona? She quickly interrupted the conversation: "What are you going to eat? Decide quickly, I'll drive there."

Lan Yueyue stopped teasing her and took out her phone to discuss where to go first.

The next day.

Yan Kui's graduation ceremony.

The hall was packed with people. Yan Kui and Lan Yueyue lined up to go on stage. When the principal turned their tassels, Yan Kui noticed a familiar face standing in front of her with a camera.

He waved at him and smiled, "Cole!"

Taking advantage of Yan Kui's wave, Cole snapped dozens of photos, checked the quality of the pictures, and then walked over.

"Miss Yan, the boss couldn't be there, so he sent me to take photos for you. I'll send them to him later."

After saying that, she handed all the bouquets of flowers behind her to Yan Kui.

Cole is one of Wei Yin's assistants. She is of mixed Chinese and British descent and is under 30 years old.

I had met Yan Kui at Wei Yin's company before; she's a very easy person to get along with.

Yan Kui pulled Lan Yueyue to stand under the KT banner of the school graduation ceremony and gave her half of the flowers in her arms: "Cole, please take a few more photos of me and Yueyue."

Cole nodded, took a few steps back, found the right spot, and gestured to Yan Kui: 3, 2, 1, and took more than a dozen shots in quick succession.

The hall was bustling with noise, everyone immersed in the graduation atmosphere. Yan Kui was sitting in a corner sorting through the photos taken today when she suddenly felt someone taking a few pictures of her with a camera in front of her.

At first she thought it was Cole, but when she looked up she realized that Cole seemed to have left a long time ago.

Is it just my imagination?

Yan Shangyu huddled in the most inconspicuous corner at the back of the auditorium, like a forgotten speck of dust.

His gaze passed through the waving flowers and cheering crowd, and landed precisely on Yan Kui.

He chatted and laughed with the classmate next to him, his eyes shining brighter than the tassels on his graduation cap.

Yan Shangyu carefully took out her phone.

My fingertips were a little cold and trembled slightly.

Clumsily adjusting the focus, the image of Yan Kui on the screen was sometimes clear and sometimes blurry.

Each frame is like a tiny needle, gently pricking the softest spot in his heart.

A bittersweet feeling slowly welled up, stuck in my throat, impossible to swallow or spit out.

He quietly raised his phone, pointing the camera at her one last time. The screen's light illuminated half his face, revealing a silent, crumbling desolation deep within his eyes.

Yan Shangyu took one last look at the photo, his fingertips lingering on her smiling face for a long time.

In the end, I locked the phone and put it back in my pocket.

The phone was heavy, making Yan Shangyu's heart ache.

He sighed and glanced at Yan Kui, who was still sitting in the corner.

It felt like she was back in high school, with Yan Kui holding a kitten and squatting at the bottom of the stairs waiting for him.

When he returned, she happily jumped into his arms, both herself and the cat, chattering excitedly about how a cute stray cat had come to their house that day.
