Chapter 18 The Daughter of the Yan Family

Chapter 18 The Daughter of the Yan Family

Yan Kui finished the noodles in her bowl completely. In her twenty-two years of life, she had never eaten such delicious noodles. She drank the last bit of water in her cup and sweetly said to Aunt Song:

"Aunt Song, your cooking is amazing! This is the best noodles I've ever eaten."

Aunt Song, who was glaring at her son, immediately put on a smiling face after hearing Yan Kui's words: "Little Sunflower, you have such a sweet tongue. Auntie loves to hear this, hahaha."

After saying that, he took the bowl that Yan Kui had left uneaten and went into the kitchen. Then he said to Huang Maomao, "Hurry up and deliver the things to the village chief's house!"

Huang Maomao smiled shyly at Yan Kui and said, "You sit down, I'll go deliver something and be right back."

Yan Kui didn't answer him. For the sake of his mother's bowl of noodles, she didn't hold his refusal to give her a ride against the tide, and smiled at him.

Huang Mao Mao felt as if his heart had been struck by lightning.

After Huang Maomao left, Yan Kui stood outside the kitchen and said, "Aunt Song, thank you for today."

"Why are you being so polite? We'll be neighbors from now on. By the way, if you want to buy something, you can make a list, and I'll have Chengzhi bring it back for you next time he goes to town."

Yan Kui's eyes lit up, and she agreed.

He turned around, put a hundred yuan on the sofa, and called out to Aunt Song in the kitchen, "I'm going home now, Aunt Song."

Aunt Song smiled and replied, "Okay, come again next time you need anything."

Yan Kui went home, found paper and pen, and made a list of what she needed, planning to ask Huang Maomao to bring it back for her next time.

Wei Yin from the next courtyard had already gone to the fields with a hoe after having breakfast with Huang Maomao.

Grandpa Wei is coming next year to inspect his farming results.

If the crops don't grow well, we might have to stay here for another year.

Under the scorching sun, as Wei Yin bent over tending to the seeds, his white T-shirt, soaked with sweat, clung to his strong back, and as the hem of his shirt fluttered, the lines of his wheat-colored waist and abdomen were revealed, his muscles appearing and disappearing as he bent over to plant rice seedlings.

Her bangs were damp with sweat, which only made her brow bones appear more deep. When she looked up, her eyelashes were covered with glistening water droplets, and her eyes were clearer than the dew on the ridge of a field.

Huang Mao Mao came running over excitedly with two bottles of water, shouting, "Brother Yin, I brought water, want some?"

Wei Yin stood up straight, palms up, and waved to Huang Maomao: "Drink."

Huang Maomao handed over the water.

Wei Yin looked up to drink water, his Adam's apple bobbing, revealing a smooth and sharp jawline. Huang Maomao said, "Brother Yin, I just saw that beauty again. She was eating noodles at my house. She's even more beautiful up close. I can't even describe how beautiful she is!"

Wei Yin glanced at him and said, "That woman from the Yan family next door?"

"Yeah, yeah, Brother Yin, you've seen her? Isn't she incredibly beautiful?"

Wei Yin scoffed lightly: "Not interested."

He continued wielding the hoe in his hand.

Yanjia.

Yan Kui took the written list and placed it in the most conspicuous place in the living room, thinking that she would give it to Huang Maomao next time she saw him, and give him some extra travel expenses.

Suddenly, Yan Kui heard someone calling her from outside.

Yan Kui quietly opened the door a crack, and an old lady in a traditional dress stood outside.

"The Yan family! The Yan family! Is anyone there?!"

The old lady's tone wasn't very friendly. Yan Kui opened the door to the house, while the courtyard gate was gently closed with the broken lock.

When the old lady saw the new girl from the Yan family come out, she said loudly, "You must be the Yan family's daughter?"

Yan Kui didn't speak, but crossed her arms and looked at the old lady outside the door.

Seeing this, the old lady's tone became even worse: "It's fine if you don't say anything, now the whole village knows that the Yan family's daughter has returned."

“You don’t need to look at me like that. I’m here to collect a debt. When your parents were alive, they took five hundred yuan from me, saying it was for travel expenses to go out and work. They still haven’t paid it back.”

"Since you're also a member of the Yan family, just return the money to me directly."

Yan Kui wanted to laugh when she heard this. She had only been here for two days, and someone had already come to her door asking for money.

He said, "Let me see the IOU."
